Glad you were able to get it figured out! Being a Ford tech myself, random wiring gremlins can make you pull your hair out, let alone intermittent issues.
We use to have wiring problem like this all the time on the aircraft and be chasing them for days. I'm glad they finally found the problem and got you back on the track.
Nice video. I'm sure that it will help some other people with the same issue. One point of clarification. For air fuel ratios, a higher number is leaner, not richer. So when you see the gauge going up to 20, that is full lean, not full rich. This makes perfect sense for a misfire from a bad coil wire, because if there is no spark to light the fuel then the exhaust will be full of unburned oxygen which the oxygen sensor will report as lean. Also, to protect the catalysts for warranty the PCM will reduce power and lean the fuel when it detects a misfire to protect the cats from having raw fuel light off inside the cat and melt it.
Very frustrating trying to locate and diagnose electrical gremlins, especially when sensitive computers are also involved .... sure glad your technician got it figured out. Also glad to learn about "chloroplast" tape .. something we all need to keep in our tool boxes. Thanks again Tim for a great video that will probably be helpful to many owners.
Dude I feel for you, these small issues can sometimes be the biggest headaches. Glad you found the issue man! Thanks again for always giving us such valuable info.
I can say that intermittent issues can cause you to lose your mind trying to find them. Unfortunately, patience from people with the issues is rarely found. Wiring/pin issues have to be traced out. Having Carey do the work is a smart move, as I worked with him. He knows where to look and I trust him totally when it comes to my own car. If I need him, I know where to find him.
@@johnandrews9620 A daily driver could have these problems. Track use accelerated it I’m sure. As for the powertrain warranty, some items are and are not covered. For instance the coils and plugs were at my expense.
Thats not showing full rich, 20 is full lean. Or 2.00. Thats just what happens when you let off the gas. The car will go full lean so it doesnt backfire and pop as the revs come down. You really need to get an HP Tuners setup so you can log the car in real time. The dealers are just parts swappers. Get an MPVI3 from Hp Tuners and get VCM scanner and a laptop. Then you will really know whats going on. Not this dealer guess and swap thing they do.

Thanks! Yes… fortunately Carey was finally able to find the dang culprit!

Been there for hours/days of my life!
You are fortunate to have a knowledgeable GT500 mechanic at hand.
YES! Carey is the BEST!
Carey is a rarity in the automotive world. He is the best.

Thanks for the feedback and appreciate the added info! 🍻
Wow, glad it ultimately got solved and massive thank you for sharing out the entire process! Goes to show just how complex these systems are.
Appreciate it, thanks! 🍻
Just goes to show you how long it takes to track this kind of issue down.
@@dominiczanella8443 Yes! It was frustrating… but we eventually found it and fixed it!
High quality video once again Tim. It was nice to finally meet you at The Shelby Show in Plano last week. Keep up the great content!
Thank you sir! 🍻 Nice to meet and chat with you as well!

Great video Tim, a bad connection ruined a lot of track days. These problems are impossible to track down, no pun intended.
Thanks! 🍻 Yes, this was a head scratcher for quite awhile!

Solid video Tim! Glad you finally found the problem and got it fixed.
Thanks Chris! 🍻
Thanks for the video! As always, you put info out there that the rest of us can use.
Appreciate the feedback! 🍻
Aweome. My 2021 is exactly like yours but don't race mine but if someday I do, I know what is one of the things it could be:) Congrats!!!
Thanks! These cars a damn fun at the track… I recommend giving it a try!
great info , electrical issues are the worst
Thanks! 🍻
Great Information and Video!
Thanks! 🍻
Thank you love the channel I have learned a lot
Appreciate that! 🍻
Is this all covered under warranty ? And would a daily driver have these problems ?

Good educational video. I'm sure you'll help a lot of us in the future. 👍🐍🇺🇸
Thanks! 🍻
Does the factory warranty cover that ? I know it doesn't cover the coils? I have the base model?
Some stuff is covered like the PCM. The other stuff was not covered.

Stock pulley still on it?
Yes

Does the average Ford technician have the experience to do these repairs ?
@@johnandrews9620 I would not trust just any ole tech. My tech (Carey) is well versed in these cars.
As much as I like to think Ford does a great amount of torture testing, I doubt they put tens of thousands of track miles on them like you do 😂
Good point!
