That portable fire looks like a cool option for a trip where weight isn’t an issue. Few better feelings than laying comfortably in a hammock warm & dry while it is cold & wet outside
Yep, the tarp passed the test and made me feel good about future trips. Now if only the weather would cooperate so that I can get back up into the mountains!
Yes, I'm really beginning to enjoy cold weather camping. Hopefully I'll get up to the Whites in a few weeks and be able to share another real winter camping video.
Bah, I have the displeasure of working through winter storms but I'm glad someone gets to enjoy them! I have a multi function tarp I use for my hammock and can make doors, I agree, doors always for me! I am looking to winterize my hammock so I am soon to be buying an under quilt. I will look at HG for sure. That portable campfire would have been good for me the other day. Thanks for sharing your trip! ATB, Gary.
Looks cold and wet outside. Just have breakfast in bed and curl up with a good book. Nothing better than lying under a tarp in a hammock in a storm. Nothing better. If you can find rocks, they will work for tie out anchors and you can move them in closer. Steep pitch and tight rig keep the slush from building up.
Yeah definitely learned some lessons on this one but happy that the tarp did its job in the end. I looked around for rocks but didn't even think about going back to some fire pits I walked past.
Cool adventure! I think I recognize the spot but won't post it here. I'm addicted to your channel. You've got a great personality: calm, happy and witty that comes thru in your vids. Happy trails, Seth!
Campfire in a can...how cool is that!! Did it give off a good amount of heat? Indeed, it is the getting packed up when one is all comfy that is the worse. There you have it, survived to tell the tale! Take great care now...Bruce and Otis
Yeah it was starting to give off some heat. The instructions say that it can get up to 2-3 feet high. 😲 But it takes a little while for the flame to spread across and I only kept it burning for 20 minutes or so. Wanted to make sure it had time to cool off and harden before the rain came.
Digging the little Radiate fire and the booties ,nice video man ,same happened to me with the weather ,hoping to get up in the whites tomorrow or next weekend ,be safe man 👋
That was fun watching you ride out the storm in the tarp! I like the little portable fire, too. Pretty fun if you are only going a short ways. Nice to see it clear up a bit for packing it all away. Glad it was a success, but, really, New Hampshire was too cold?! LOL, great video, I really enjoyed it!
It was cold up there, likely to get down to 0°, but the wind chill would have been frigid. Most of the people I planned the trip with bailed and that took the wind out of our sails. I was going to go up this past weekend but the blizzard had other plans. 🤦🏼
I liked that little Radiate tin. I can imagine the smaller one is worthwhile to bring in certain situations when you just want some ambience. Thanks for watching!
I don’t blame you, I changed my plans from an overnight to a day hike due to the cold. Looks like the doors make a big difference. Still not ready to dive down the hammock rabbit hole yet though.
Nice!! I'm telling you man, you'll be snuggling into a tent soon enough ;) I think such a tarp would be my first choice if I was going with a hammock :)
yea I got a tarp with doors just for winter camping that's the only time I camp fall and winter I don't do good in warm weather I like the cold I'm warm blooded
I prefer to camp in the mountains so even when it's hot it's usually cool enough up there. This tarp is definitely going to replace my old one year round - lighter and I can always pull the doors back if necessary. Thanks for watching!
That's a cool little campfire idea! Could you position your trekking poles inside to keep the tarp from sagging in on you? Looked like a nice local overnight. The tarp setup looks so comfy especially in those colder trips. It's been so bitter cold in NH probably better to stay in RI.
Trekking poles probably wouldn't have done much from the inside but looking back maybe I could have used them to get the pullouts heading away from each other. It's a learning process but I'm just glad I didn't get wet!
Another good one. We just got back from overnight in the Adirondacks and overnight temps were -15* F. Also had about 8 inches of fresh snow.. Frigid!! You had nice spot to camp there.. Good stuff man!!
Looked a cozy camp, lovely spot to wake up too👍
Yeah it was lovely to lay in the hammock and listen to the rain in the morning.

Nice set up! Love the colder weather videos!

Thanks Gary, I'm very happy with my Hammock Gear quilts. Only issue is that they often have quite the backorder so it can take a while to get 'em.
@@RhodySeth yeah, I was looking at their lead times and it is a bit far out and no better than ugq or any of the others
I love that wind!!!!!
It was whipping there for a while!

Woah you're so adventurous Seth! Love the setup. It looks really cold out there! :O
Cold in the evening but not bad by the morning!

I thank you sir and appreciate you kind words!
The hammock looks interesting! The sound of the rain would just make me want to stay in the hammock for even longer! - Alistair
Yeah it was really relaxing under there! Glad it kept the rain out.

Those booties are top shelf. Really keep my feet warm. Yeah bummed I didn't get up to the Whites but hopefully in a few weeks.

That tarp looked like it was ready to take off! Definitely looked stressful, sometimes you just don't get that good nights sleep when camping!
Yeah I wasn't getting much sleep with that wind but the tarp held together so it was a successful test!
Nice camping!
It was a good test and the scenery was lovely. Thanks for watching!
I love your setup which is much better than I had it in similar conditions. Also I was considering the Radiate fire option myself.

It's a deep hole!

After the amount of room I have in that tarp I don't think I could go back to a tent!

Thanks man! Sounds like you had a frosty night in the woods. ❄️ Looking forward to watching!
I’ve never tried the Italian beef. Sounds delicious though. Portable fire seemed pretty neat!
Big fan of that Italian beef. After some mediocre meals lately that one really hit the spot.
is that lincoln woods park?
cool video
Thanks! This is actually down by Yawgoog Pond on the RI/CT border.
@@RhodySeth ah cool never been there
Looks like a solid dispersed site. Could you share the location?
Hit me up on IG and I'll tell you my secrets.
