I wonder if Qi’ra is responsible for leaving Maul on Malachor. 🤔 Random thought I had while listening to this. Not sure if that’s been mentioned much, but I doubt I’m the first to suggest it.
It's possible, though the Hutts point out in this story that Crimson Dawn hasn't made any moves in years, and Qi'ra mentions at the auction that many might only know of Crimson Dawn by reputation. Which heavily implies that Maul's disappearance was indeed an unexpected accident that lead to CD collapsing because a successor hadn't been formally named and acknowledged. If Qi'ra had indeed planned to betray Maul and take control of Crimson Dawn beforehand, it's unlikely she would've had such a hard time keeping CD together. Losing Maul would've been a minor temporary setback at worst rather than the heavy blow that it turned out to be, had she planned this. And I could be wrong, but I think I remember Maul specifically saying in Rebels that his ship *crashed* on Malachor in his search of the Sith battle station buried underneath. He didn't say anything about someone leaving him stranded there. I know that this was before Qi'ra was created and that she could be retconned into the story as her leaving him there because she knew she could never outright kill him on her own. But it's unlikely that Maul wouldn't have mentioned being betrayed by someone at all or made it a priority to hunt Qi'ra down like he did to Obi-Wan once he left Malachor. He does love to monologue about getting revenge on his enemies, after all. Then again, you could be right. No one in the public galaxy outside of Dryden Vos and Qi'ra are shown to know that Maul was the actual leader of Crimson Dawn behind the scenes. Even Lando, who knew them both well, believed that Dryden was the leader until he started to consider the possibility that maybe Dryden was also a puppet in this story. So it's possible that Qi'ra could've taken advantage of Maul's anonymity to make him disappear without anyone missing him.
