Hi i also own an id3 first. After 90000 km I can say I mostly agree with your opinion. It is a reliable and fun car to drive. It is alsof very efficiënt. There it is good to know how the regeneration work, use the brake pedal gently and stay within the max. regeneration. Until now the only only " maintenance" I had to pay for were the rear tires. Charging mostly done with dynamic priced electricity. The car charges via an app with the lowest EPEX prices. All in all a nice and competent EV. As far as I am concerten a bit underappiciated.
Great review as always Derek. I bought my ID.3 in May 2021 and I have to say I love it. It has its small issues in terms of software and I've found the service department of my local dealer to be worse than useless but the car itself, I absolutely adore. Big fan of the armrests like yourself! With all that said, there's zero chance I'll be buying another one as my next car if they continue pricing their cars as they have been recently. Too much competition out there selling very good cars for more realistic prices. I think I'll probably hold my own for 6 - 12 months beyond the 3 year PCP mark and will look at everything that's available then. Maybe VW will have come to their senses by then!
Good to see another Pro S, I have 2022 tour 5. I can't see the justification for almost €50k though for that model. It brings it into Tesla territory. Definitely would like to see a coast - coast.
Great review Derek, thank you. Picking up an id3 pro this week rather than waiting for the second facelift. Moving from a larger SUV, as you say, looking forward to the smaller efficient driving experience. Comes with quite a few extras in a package so your UA-cam on Park plus very useful...had no idea what it did, so auto reverse parking into a home garage a surprise bonus! Yes at the margin there are some cheaper options / maybe better value EV's available but having driven Golf's in yesteryear seems ok for a small premium.
EVs are never cheap but €40,000 compares well with other small family EVs, like the Megane, EC4X, etc. I’d love to see a Skoda in that segment. The Enyaq is too big.
Great review Derek. I own a March 2022 ID.3 Pro Max. My car has a lot of the spec that’s on your review car. It has Matrix headlights, X rear brake lights which can be changed, Augmented Heads Up Display, panoramic glass roof, powered heated massaging front seats. After all that I have a had a few problems especially with the software. I’m waiting on a part for the SOS system which isn’t working and I’ve had a tyre replaced after a blow out which I’m told is happening to a lot of ID.3s and ID4s. They dealership is not the best. I won’t be buying another one next year, I’m going to look elsewhere
@@NevoEVReviewIreland I’m hoping to look at the Kia EV6 or EV Niro also the Renault Megane ETech. I’ve owned more Renaults than any other car and I always found them excellent
Thanks for the review. I am keen to hear the price for the 82 and 62 kWh plus release dates in Ireland. One to review next and compare to the Seal is the Song L
Did not expect VW to make a RHD version this year . Fair play to them. AS an ID.3 owner I do think this is over priced. The infotaiment is utter rubbish . Mine frequently reboots endlessly . cant wait to return it back on 04/24 at end of PCP.
What software version are you on. Battery Life YT Channel - Chris from Germany has an early ID3 and has been keeping up with the various software updates.
Wish reviewers would identify that the car they drive isnt the bog standard one, electric seats for eg is an extra? I get they give you the ones with all the bells and whistles but I still think you should say what isnt included on new versions as standard. Thanks for the review.
Great review Derek and some nice changes to the updated version but I would still prefer the Cupra Born styling wise. Do you know why it is only a 4 seater as that could hurt sales I think.
Good review though I think the initial EV head of steam is starting to evaporate . The price for a Golf sized car is eye watering when compared to the Golf 1.5l (petrol) which is an excellent overall vehicle. I feel that Hybrid petrol or even MHEVs will still hold their own .
Upgrade an improvement but dash still not to my taste. Interesting to see so many comments on price being too high. VW need to do more to matct the oposition imo. Great review Thanks Des
Haptic buttons... infotainment...no rear door switches are all totally overblown. Lovely car to own and drive. Hasn't given a days bother in 64k of driving. 300 to 350 km range Winter/Summer (58 kWh battery). Will I get another one? No...gone waay too expensive. ID4, ID5, Enyaq all gone bananas in price. VAG have a big problem in my view.
If these things are to catch on in any numbers that will make a difference to the environment they will have to come in at sub €25k from all manufacturers. I'll wait for the as promised sub €25k ID2 but not holding my breath.
Haaa here no heat pump, still a spec choice. Tutt Tutt Tutt. VW are just going to send a lot of customers towards Tesla and if they can get over brand badges too BYD.

Thanks for the comment Niall. Great as always to hear from an owner. Not to worry, lots of choice for you once it comes to go again
Good review Derek, I will wait for the updated screen with the backlit temperature and volume sliders next year, looks great in that colour
You and me both!
Lives in Denmark, and has had an ID.3 for two years and 55,000km. Have been very satisfied with the car, which has run almost flawlessly.
Great to hear from an owner. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the review! I’ve just ordered one of these, can’t wait
Hope you enjoy it!

I'll see if they have a 58kWh press car because this 77kWh will easily do it

Straigth and honest review.
Many thanks for the comment! Very interested in your tyre and wheel tests.
I love the Haptic Buttons.
I'd say you're one of only a few
I wonder is it just reviewers that don't like them as they don't live with them everyday@@NevoEVReviewIreland

Definitely - a Scala or Octavia sized Škoda could be very interesting.
Skoda is coming!

Also, what's worth to mention is that the software is much improved since the first ID.3s. Ie. it's much faster and doesn't have those bugs
Agree! Planning some used EV reviews soon on the channel

It's nice isn't it? Great to see VW trying something different.

Good review, can you do efficiency figures in both miles and Km thanks

Great question re Software Version. Also, when the PCP ends, what are you going to go for?
@@NevoEVReviewIreland If the new M-3 highland is out then , will go for that, expected to be cheaper with 100km + more range. Else M-Y

Agree and will try to clarify in the future. I recent drove the Peugeot e-308 and I selected the entry level trim

I think it's something to do with weight and maximum passengers allowed.

Thanks for the comment Des. The comments are plentiful alright but maybe on the model I had and not the Pro version for €40k 🤷♂️

Thanks for the comment and have you taken it for a test drive yet? You may love it.
@@NevoEVReviewIreland i do like it. Very different
More expensive than a model y to for lower specs...hmmm 🤔🤔

Second hand Tesla how good are they ?
Depending on how they were treated by the last owner. Have a report done on the battery to really see
Lovely car, Derek but not worth anything like price now demanded for it. Much better value now available elsewhere.
Competition is a good thing for consumers for sure
Nope! This car is a case of emperor’s new Clothes
Interesting analogy. Thanks for the comment

Lots of competition out there for sure
It’s definitely not worth the money. I would buy a Kia Niro EV it’s better value, 5 seater and decent range
Probably the one I'd go for too
" A touch on the expensive side" sorry Derek you are wrong, it's ludicrously expensive !!!!!!!!
🤣🤣 thanks for the comment
Price is way too high for this car.
Thanks for the comment. The entry level 58kWh is not too bad
No single pedal drive. No heat pump in Ireland!-Stupid. Haptic crap. Overpriced......not the peoples car any more.
Sales figures will definitely tell the story
Way overpriced .😢
Thanks for the comment
Seriously overpriced with a lousy range and snail paced recharging time
Agree on the price, the charging speed I thought was very good! For a hatchback
Overpriced 😢
Thanks for the comment. I'm getting this vibe from a lot of comments
