Let us compare this with the Rhine. At its mouth, the average flow of the Rhine is about 2,330 m³/s. The Rhine's catchment area covers 198,000 km². The latest available data from 29 October, explains the Spanish Hydrographic Confederation, is from 18:55, when the flow reached 2,282 cubic metres per second (m3/s). After that hour, the sensors were destroyed by the water. The flow reached exceeded 3,200 m3/s. The river bed in that area is normally dry, without water. The destruction did not reach the capital (Valencia) because it was protected by important river diversion works; the new protective channel in Valencia worked very well and exceeded 2,000 m3/s.
The new Turia river can hold Up to 5000 m³ per second. I must point out that near the V30 was flooded with lots of Cars damaged. Near Chirivella towards Valencia. So it was really near disaster. Also I must point out that they are many reports now, that said that first It did rain quiet heavy since the 25th upstream and they did realese the dams with an estimation of 9200 m³ in 3 different river systems. Júcar, Magro for example. So It looks to me that the thing that they did not raise the alarm to the population. Not following the health and safety plans for the dams. Such a mass is impossible to control, but it happened partly at the Spaniards' own request...
