  • We remove, repair and reinstall the 2004 Nissan Murano Instrument Cluster which has a speedometer, tach, fuel guage and more. The methods shown here will probably work on the 2005 and 2006 models -- and maybe several more.

    Thank you for the video!! Had a bunch of work done on my 2005 Murano and asked them if they could look at my Tach arm which ended up on other side of the post causing arm to not move. They said no didn't know how to fix without taking out the dash. Just goes to show, guys like you posting solutions on how to fix things payed off for me!!!!! Done in 15 mins!! Thanks again.

    I ordered another off ebay. My current speedometer isn't working and I have replaced all speed sensors. My mph Gauge jumps around. Do you know if the new instrument panel is a plug and play situation

      Totally don't know but I think it should be. This is a great question and please get back to us after the swap -- please tell 1.) year of your vehicle 2.) if your mileage was the same after swap or did it change to the new swapped unit's mileage? and 3.) how it went in general. This will help lots of viewers -- thx so much!
      EDIT: I just figured out maybe you've already swapped and now you're seeing mph gauge issues on the swap unit -- ouch! Man, I hope you didn't get a defective cluster off ebay, but it could be the case.

      Have the same problem. Was reading it could be a plastic gear in the cluster. Don't see anything in the video. Did you figure out a fix?

      This question has bugged me for some months. Today I set out to answer it. Details are in my pinned comment, but short answer -- YES. Everything works successfully when I swapped with the instrument cluster I bought on ebay.

    Is the bulbs for the dash? I was wanting to change the color from orange to white is that possible?

    • @spearsg
      @spearsg  Рік тому

      The only success I've had is from finding parts (like the instrument cluster in this video) on ebay or a junkyard... then i take the bulbs from that ebay part and put them into my car part, then reinstall my car part. So that means then... if you can find a part for your car on ebay or in a junkyard... and that part has white bulbs, then yes it's possible.

    Trying to understand if you repair it or just replaced it?

    • @spearsg
      @spearsg  Рік тому +1

      Hi -- I can appreciate that it's not 100% clear especially due to other discussions on this video. I _repaired_ the instrument cluster by borrowing parts/lights from the instrument cluster I bought on ebay. Then I put the original instrument cluster back in the Murano and it's installed there now. Also, I still have the ebay instrument cluster (stored in my garage) for more lights/parts in the future -- which is likely -- cuz these old school incandescent light bulbs don't last so long.

    nice vid. anyway to remove light scratches or dirtyness from the plastic lens of it? i used polish coumpand to clean the plastic glass but it left some marks which is annoying . thx

    • @spearsg
      @spearsg  3 роки тому

      Thanks! None that I know. My plastic lens was cracked, so that was half the reason for me getting a salvage instrument cluster off ebay to use for parts. The other half was i needed some bulbs. It sux that we have to buy a whole cluster to get these trivial pieces, rt? But at least I was able to get one cheap ($70) on ebay. The MSRP for the cluster is $1200.00(!) So, it could have been lot worse...

    Do you know what size light bulb are they to replace my cluster lights?

    • @spearsg
      @spearsg  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry, nope. They're incandescent -- and every time I searched for replacements I found only LEDs, which will not work. That's when I searched ebay for a used Instrument Cluster to use as source of light bulbs -- which worked out nicely.

      Researched online. It looks like the part number is going to be different, so please be careful when selecting. www.nissanpartsdeal.com/oem-nissan-murano-instrument_cluster.html The process to remove and install MIGHT be the same or close - but sorry really can't say either way about that.

    Today I set out to answer two things for the 2003-2005 Nissan Murano instrument cluster :
    1.) Is the Instrument cluster plug-and-play? (simple swap ok?) (Short answer: yes)
    2.) Do the Equus 9902 Tachometer Replacement Bulbs fit/work? (Short answer: no)
    DETAILS:
    2004 Nissan Murano SE / SL Engine: 3.5L V6 / Instrument Cluster part #: 24820-CA101
    1.) I removed, replaced the instrument cluster with the one I got from Ebay back in June 2021. Test drove fine... all gages and indicators worked as advertised.
    -- The only exception is the mileage was off. This tells us that the mileage is stored in the cluster. Apparently you can buy a kit--or--take it to an authorized mechanic to set the miles.
    -- CAUTION: most states have laws about reselling vehicles with "innaccurate" mileage, be careful.
    -- EDIT: pls note: -- I put the _original_ instrument cluster back in the Murano when I was done with this test.
    2.) I ordered "Equus 9902 Tachometer Replacement Bulb - 4 Piece" ( Amazon product# B001QUB930 ). They Are incandescent bulbs... but... they do not fit my instrument cluster, can't use them.
