    Hi Penny. So far I have made your stove and refrigerator and am very happy with both. These chairs and table are my next project.I will modify them a little to make them like the ones we had as an remember them. I was wondering if you use anything other than an x-acto knife for cutting? Thanks so much for your instructions.

      Oh, I’m so happy to hear you like the pieces! My cutting tool really depends on the material. The x-acto knife works best for things like styrofoam, chip board, and thin pieces of wood. For thicker wood I have a little razor saw with a miter box. Best of luck with the table and chairs!

    Absolutely brilliant. The taper of the leg really sets these chairs apart. Excellent design. Side note: did you ever order a jeweler’s saw?

    Penny, your work and teaching is fantastic! Puhleeeese, what are the little metal blocks for squaring called, and where to get {what type of store?}

    • @pennyssmallspaces
      @pennyssmallspaces  Рік тому

      Thank you Denise! They are called 1-2-3 Blocks (they are 1”x2”x3”) or sometimes referred to as Set-up Blocks. You can likely find them at a hardware store but I got mine from Amazon. They are a little expensive ($32 Canadian for 2 blocks) but well worth the price in my opinion. When you receive them, they have a bit of an oily film on them so I wrapped them in some paper towel for a day and gave them a good wipe down before I used them.

      Thanks you!
      I got the square from Julie Warren (Little Bits and Pieces) Etsy store. It is one of my favourite tools! I will leave a link here:

      The craft knife I got on Amazon. The brand name is Beaditive High Precision Detail Craft Knife. It comes with 10 blades and is around $20 Canadian.
      I hope that helps!💚

    Did you ever say why your grandparents' furniture is in a museum?

    • @pennyssmallspaces

      Hi Elisha! After my Grandfather passed away, my uncle Alec moved home and helped my Grandma with the farm. They then sold the farm in 1973, and bought a house in town. My uncle took all the furniture from the farm house, and what they didn’t use in the new house, he stored in the basement. It sat there for almost 20 years, collecting dust. In 1992, the town decided to turn the local hospital (which was no longer being used) into a Homestead Museum. My uncle was retired and volunteered a great deal in the community so when he heard of the plan for the museum, he offered to help them get it up an running, and then cleaned out the basement and donated all those items to the museum. When I decided to build this replica, I was doing a lot of research on the area, the town, and our family history. I found out completely by accident that Uncle Alec and been apart of the museum’s creation, and that he had donated many of the items. We went on a road trip in May to visit the museum and was overwhelmed honestly, to see so many of the pieces from the farm. My uncle has long since passed, but I will be eternally grateful to him for saving all those things, and donating them!
