There was nothing more serene than getting on the sky lift and floating over the park. Especially just as the lights came on in the afternoon. Opryland had a "feel" that will never be duplicated and will always be missed.
Thank you so much for sharing these priceless memories. I worked at Opryland back in the 80s and to see the park and hear the familiar sounds, is a beautiful trip back in time. But, it’s so sad as well.
Aerial Hiking You’re right. A little more bitter than sweet for most. I’ve never heard of any closing, of any attraction or business, affecting so many people, the way Opryland did. I’ve talked to others who will get really emotional, to this day. Kinda cool though.
Just the 'sounds' of the park......all the trees around the park.......these are things I never appreciated, until now that their gone. Very sad........
I could go on and on about my memories of Opryland. Of my family, I was the main one who wanted to ever go there. But, we all only went together to Six Flags in GA. When I was out on my own, I FINALLY made it a point that I would live my dream of going to Opryland. Three years in a row, I went at least once a year. Am I glad I finally lived that dream, cause, about two or four years after that last time I went to Opryland, I went back and it was GONE !!! My heart just SUNK !!! I had no idea how it had been closed down !!! I stayed overnight in Nashville, and, headed back home with a heavy heart. 😢 My favorite ride at Opryland was the one called "CHAOS" ! I would ride it at least five or ten times throughout my day there whenever I went. Such good memories !!!
Thank you so SO much for uploading these videos and letting us all relive some of our most treasured memories. Though we've all been to many amusement parks over the years, it just makes me so sad that neither of my kids never got to experience Opryland. It wasn't just any ol' amusement park.. it was so much more than that. Now it's just gone.. and nothing can replace it. =(
We went ever year from about 82 until it closed in 97. I wish my family could experience Opryland. It truly was a great theme park. So many memories and good times. I remember where every major ride was in that park and the years they added the new ones while I was alive. Such a magical place
This sure does bring back pleasant memories, having a season pass, seeing how many times me and my friends could go to Opryland before summer ended. Anybody remember the cantina show at the wild west saloon? Again good times and good memories!
So weird seeing this now, when I could literally be in this video, just a boy amazed at all this. It’s as if I’m watching the childhood me, and the now me is there with him.
Very important life lessons were learned here for me. Do not wear jeans to a theme park or material that is denim if you might get wet. Also walking around all day and wet tennis shoes is painful.
It was probably because this was during the fall season. It usually was a little less crowded then. The summer days though...it could be super crowded.
This was Americas Country Music home until the GAYLORD came along. Crying Shame. What do familys do in Nashville now to spend the day together. Nothing.

Randy Porter thanks for the message. Yup...it’s bitter sweet.

Thank you for these. I worked there in the early to mid 80s. These bring back memories of being young & how wonderful the park was.
Opryland was such a beautiful park with those trees all around . I loved it there but didn't think it would ever be a thing of the past.
