Just Kudos to Digital John. He's doing great. I'm glad you brought him on the show. He adds a lot value to your videos on these more complex multi-fx units.
I love seeing Digital John paired with Pete. A little constructive criticism for The Captain, imstead of whining about the differences between analog and digital, like the Captain does, Pete goes with the flow and seems more interested in letting John guide him through the features and capabilities of the unit! John's videos with Lee are informative for players more accustomef to separate pedals but it feels like Lee is being led, kicking and screaming, to his digital doom! It's a nice change of pace to see how to use a digital miltieffects unit without having to tip one's hat to a pedalboard and pedals. Honestly I've been a tiny bit miffed with the Captain since the blindfold combo challenge where Lee picked the Blues Cube as jis favorite but he never kept one and lived with it for any reasonable length of time. I think that he would have been much more comfortable with digital gear if he would have just taken the plunge and used a blues cube as his combo of choice for, at least, a year!
Props to Digital John for keeping the video running smoothly with just him and Pete😂 our lovely Dane is like a wild puppy running around the house some days.
Well Digital John is definitely stoned most of the time. It's pretty obvious. I also have noticed on certain days Pete is sniffling a little more then usual, he's also quite peppy, he's got a zing, a certain bounce to himself if you will..... And i also know how popular a certain "candy" can be for eroupean dudes. Especially euro dudes from The Netherlands and Denmark lol. **These are just observations, inglorious observations with zero weight, and none judgment whatsoever, that are more likely wrong then correct (Although id put money on John being a pothead)**
The best part is these things cost less than many individual pedals. If you don't have many/any pedals, this gives you a chance to try out a bunch of tones.
This outro jam is why I love guitar so much. Two guys playing over the same loop, with the same exact rig, and they sound completely different. Well done, as always, gents.
Great format with Pete and John. Nice interaction around the discovery of the product and very informative/fun video. Keep it like that for the next videos on modelers!
Incredible piece of kit, 2 incredible players. I Have the full fat gp200 and it comfortably outperforms anything in this price bracket. Also, dij-it-all John is a seriously tasty player. Happily holding himself with the mighty Danish Pete. Wonderful to see.
Petes definitely got the Friday feeling in this one! - Great outro from John - Its great to have his style on these vids bringing a bit of variety - seems a good value unit
Wendy wrote and played the Purple Rain lick, not Prince. Give her the credit she deserves for writing probably the most iconic opening to probably the most iconic song ever written.
I’ve got the regular GP-200 and I’m very happy with it. As a beginner it’s a great way to try a load of effects without breaking the bank, plus it’s got the tuner and metronome/drums built in too (albeit the drums are pretty basic). The only downside I’ve found so far that was mentioned in the video is that you can only have one pedal in each category which can be limiting as for example the fuzz pedals are in the same grouping as the distortion pedals so if you want both you’re kinda out of luck (although you do have the option to plug actual pedals into it’s effects loop which gets around it). It’s got a good PC app too so if you want a touchscreen and your laptop has a touchscreen, just connect the 2 up with a USB cable and you’re away
I love my gp200 I bought it so I could have a bass rig and Also a guitar rig depending on the show and coupled with a powered monitor for stage volume and a line for front of house it hasn’t failed me
I use the GP-200 in my church band, it’s the only multi effects in this price bracket with XLR outs (that I know of) and it sounds good, glad to see this mini version does the same.
really amazed at how fast digital realm is progressing! everywhere/ all kinds of trades too!! long live 0s and 1s!!! (which it will beyond man for sure, infinitely)
One of these, a basic guitar and a pair of headphones has to be Junior's ideal first guitar rig. You have the headphones so the parents are not driven nuts by all the noise of a beginner messing up songs or playing the same songs time and again along with loads of effects and later on it could be plugged into an amp or a PA if they ever got to playing in a band.
With so many people using multi fx pedals and amp pedals instead of traditional amps, I'd like to learn more about the powered cabs they might run them through in a live setting. Is there a big variety? Future video, maybe?
the key "word" is FRFR. They are some kind of PA boxes. There are differences yes, and there are ridiculously overpriced boxes that cost way over 1000EUR/GBP/USD and sound as good as 800 quit boxes.
I just plugin to the return of an amp. (any). Yes none of the knobs on the amp will work but it works like a powered cab. But you are at the mercy of the master level on the multi-fx.
John almost convinced Pete to get to the right side with this one! It is kind of cute that I have a guitar named Danish Pete, it's another story... I bought the one he wanted from Sire, known now as the Sire H7v in vintage burst just like the first one with P90's!
Don't know what is up with Digi John, cuz when he plays..he goes into a wonderful dimension. I think they need to make him a new Moniker. His style is unique and is his own. I'm a thinking'....'Slim Jim Mojo'....
I wonder how good it would sound going through a seymore Duncan power stage 170, and then through a mesa compact 2x12 cab. That’s what I’m wanting to do with it
As the kid I was in a band in the 80/90s, with a no brand guitar and no brand amp. Do I need to say more? I remember coveting a Boss DS-1 (which was a rare thing of beauty).
Great video!! I have a question, tone-wise does it sound exactly as it’s bigger brother GP200? Also, I have several Choptones packs for the GP200, will I be able to put them on the GP200jr?
At this price point, for 50 pounds more I'd prefer the GP200 with 8 stomp buttons instead of 3. There are some things not to like, such as the lackluster bundled IRs and inability to make parallel paths that the more expensive competitors do. The 44.1 kHz sampling rate could be problematic in certain cases, such as trying to make your own IR with software that expects 48 kHz sampling rate. But it's still a very nice multi-FX pedal with 11 blocks that can be used simultaneously. To mitigate poor amp/cab emulation, you can turn off the amp + cabinet emulation and use a valve amp and a real cab.
Jesus- that sounds so good man. A friend gave me a Line 6 Flex 3 to play on a demo he was making- he didn't have to give me anything, I think it was just in his way- anyway- it sux. They nailed the clean tones- they sound better than my tube amp- but the distortion is so bad, it truly makes you wonder why they would release something like that. If that was the best I could do, I would wait until I could do better before releasing anything- because that's what made ppl hate digital modeling. Ppl like me- I'm in my 50s- our first taste of digital modeling was that it was horribly bad- no good. And many of us just wrote it off back then and will never give it another chance. Which is a shame because they've fixed all that now- it sounds great. I've stopped buying pedals , amps, guitars, etc.- saving money for a good modeler now. The Valeton stuff is tempting though- it sounds damned good, it's easy to use, and it's affordable. Tbh I think I would spend more on the speakers than the unit if go with a Valeton. Having a good set of FRFR speakers- or a good cab, I would imagine makes a world of difference in how it sounds in the end. That's something I always try to remember when they demo a unit at Andertons- they're going to have access to the best speakers available and I'm sure they use them.
For home or studio speakers, it makes sense to use any stereo or home theater amp and speakers plus a subwoofer. It's a very inexpensive way to get full range frequency response with tons of headroom for the multi-FX pedal to drive.
It's difficult for bass players who are looking for an affordable all-in-one board.. 99% of the reviews are about guitar sounds.. I know this unit must have some bass cabinets in it, so, I'm wondering; Is the compressor any good for bass guitar?

I am thinking about using this as an effect board for gigs, but if the unit would fail, it is important for me to have a backup. The size would be perfect for that, but if I have to edit every patch 2 times that would be very time consuming.
Where this device is connected to? Is it connected to mixer or directly to the soundcard of a computer? It would be good if you also told us this in your demos. How does it sound with an ordinary guitar combo, without a cabinet and a mic simulator?
Can you add multiple of reverbs for example? And can you change the order to like before dirt etc? I really like how this sounds and would like to know if this thing can shoegaze?
I don't own one, but from what I understand seeing multiple reviews, it only allows you to have one pedal of each type (so, no multiple reverbs at the same time)
That’s true, but you can change the order of the modules, including changing the send and return points of your external fx loop - so reverb or gainstage layering is possible if u have favourite pedals in the loop
Okay, here’s the dilemma, I’ve got loads of decent pedals I love & nice valve amps. Then because of my Arthritis and because am not as young as once was, got the Fender GTX 50 which is great. But I look at this little unit from Valeton & can see the appeal and applications of it as an option should I wish to plug into my old Wem or maybe even my valve powered Marshall on days where my hip and back are not playing up and getting a plethora of additional setup options. But the reality is I don’t really need it for my guitar setup, even with the additional options it would undoubtedly give. Tbh, if the Valeton could have the additional flexibility to use as Bass multi-FX then would have no excuses to not get one. As I think that is in reality what is really missing from my setup. Great pedal but the GP 200 is only 50 bucks more. I bought the GP200, if the jr was 250 or below it would sell more. it would be nice to be able to tell what the buttons are when they're not lit. After some time you'll memorize them but it's definitely a mistake to not have them lit all the time, just change the color when they're activated.
Bro, over here where it is designed and manufactured, we can get a new GP200 under 208 dollars(not from official sale). And the LT version can only costs less. It's the best budget multieffects unit in the market, surpassing the mooer GE 200 by so much.
I was planning to buy a Pod Go which should be better than valeton GP200 because of the higher price. Now I see this promotional video. I'm wondering if I should still go fo Pod Go.
Well, the Pod Go has more switches, can be used as a pedalboard in stomp mode and it makes you have multiple ods, delays, reverbs, etc. simultaneously (in the limits of the patch and dsp, obvs)
@zackpack8 Oh man, Helix Floor is so much better than any of these two but I can't afford it. Pod Go should sound similar to Helix Floor even though the dsp is more inferior.
Great video' Excellent bit of kit for sure! Thank you! _ Cept' For All the talents and knowledge presented on your show' and the class of it' It's are far and above any ,locker room humor! 🎼🇬🇧🇺🇲✌️
After consulting my electronic abacus, 85x3=255 Makes sense that it's 85 then since 255 is generally a good number for binary programing. Don't ask me why... I don't know.
a byte is 8 bits. a bit is either 0 or 1. and right to left it goes 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 in value. So one byte that's 8 bits of 11111111 = 255. That's why it's good for binary programming. :)
Review also Gp-100, it sounds the same and is half the price. It's smaller and has a smaller screen but has so many features too. Mr. Pete might need reading glasses for it.
For me that bigger screen and more foot switches is definitely worth the extra cost. Each bank has 4 patches with a dedicated foot switch for each patch (or to turn on/off 4 fx blocks within 1 patch)
Digital is the future! Don’t get me wrong, I love my tubes and pedals… But digital has got sooooooooo good in recent years. I’ll be honest, I barely use my tube amps anymore. I’m a youngster though so maybe that’s why it was so easy to make the switch, I’m only 30 lol. Sorry boomers(jk), digital is where it’s at now! I want to get this neat thing!
Just Kudos to Digital John. He's doing great. I'm glad you brought him on the show. He adds a lot value to your videos on these more complex multi-fx units.

How do you feel the Valeton compares to the Headrush Mx5?
I've really liked using my gp200, when I saw this I became so excited for those who may be looking for something like it!
same. I use it all the time. it fantastic

Instead of making updates for additional effects, you could instead use these effects as individual pedals in the effects loop
Digital John is a fantastic guitarist! He's a great addition to the Anderton family
I play at church and the other guitarist uses one of these since we play direct. And it sounds really good.

Danish Pete and Digital John….brilliant!
Thank you for the “for dummies” explanation. Very helpful.
Hey Pete, 85 x 3 = 255. This is a well known number in computing being the maximum value that can be expressed in 8x binary digits (1-byte).

You can buy a GP200R which is red and is the same unit but for bass
Can I turn off the amp/cab models for specific outputs
or send my guitar directly to an output with no amp modeling applied at all?
Yes- you can have amp/cab on one out and none on the other
Does it have USB digital audio out for input to a DAW?
Yes
Any hardware or background noise/hiss?
I don't need one, but i WANT one! 🙂
The IR sound great, but otherwise I think the old zoom are better. Battery operated better reverb, better interface, lighter, way cheaper.

Hey Pete, does your back hurt from bending over backwards to promote the Digiwigi?
intresting compare it with zoom
Nice jam at the end 😎🤘🏾🔥🔥
