I absolutely love this brush. I purchased mine as soon as it was available and was shocked when it arrived in the UK 2 days later (Thanks Beautylish 😁). I was born in the Year of the Ox and I'm also a Taurus so this brush really is special to me ❤❤❤
I have a couple of Chikuhodo x Beautylish brushes and sets and they are beautiful and different in size from either these or any of the Chikuhodo series I, lets face it, collect. I am (somewhat painfully) passing because I want to save for a couple of face brushes of unique shape and size by Sonia and Koyudo (and whatever may release this year). If I had an actual pretty vanity where I sat and did my makeup and that I could decorate, I would 100% collect these or a fude brand variation FOR SURE. These are adorable and a nice shape.
@@aliciaarcher At the end of 2020, I got Sonia's Cheek Pro (and her face brushes in the Kayaki set), and your smaller concealer brush and Wayne's Air Brush, which combined with 2 of the Z series smaller highlight/cheek brushes I've been using for contour and bronzer and powder (because I didn't like how my bigger brushes were picking up Surrat's cheek products or products in smaller pans) plus that great Koyodu finishing brush that I don't use for finishing and it was like whoa, I want to play with a bunch of new shapes. I love my big fat Rephr and especially Z series Chikuhodo brushes (and 80 other Chikuhodo brushes). My z-8 is probably my favorite single beauty item (well, Midnight Sun, Lila, and Lisa's lipsticks close, close second), but I've REALLY been liking my complexion switcheroos. And I definitely want more very small fude detail brushes so that I can wear dark shadows without looking like Brittney Spears (and I have like 20 from Sonia, I mean, it's probably 8, but it feels like 20). I just need to find a way to better display and put on my makeup that keeps it at the same level of involvement in my life and doesn't intrude any more into all things movement and horses and books and cooking. I feel like the balance is good right now. But am I going to stop wanting and buying beautiful Japanese brushes? Um, no. So I want something better than cute jars (even if they are vintage and fabulous). Oooh Koyudo was my 2020 discovery love (thank you!). And I want one of their squishy cat paw cactus brushes too. Not sure why. But I look at them weekly. Plus a Golden Fox blush brush. In the Suqqu Face Palette 1? Divine. (That palette belongs in my list with Midnight Sun and Lila. I don't even like face palettes, but the blush tones are immaculate).
I was going to wait and just get the year of the Tiger one since that's my zodiac animal but these little oxen are the CUTEST fing thing!!! I couldn't resist! Also, holy heck it's so soft! I was going to wait for the Honor series blush brush to come back in stock before getting into fude but I'm so glad I did get this. Thank you for this review! If they keep making designs like this I don't know if I can resist getting more lol.

I'm Year of the Dragon. I'm probably going to buy all the things when my year rolls around (2024!!), because I do identify strongly with scorpio/dragon energy (also game of thrones baby dragons). But I always look forward to seeing these releases across brands because they feel more creative and energetically themed than Christmas.
I cannot wait to see that illustration! And I also look forward to all the brands’ interpretations. Until then, I will try and resist all other Lunar New Year brushes before then 🤣🥴💸

Excuse me a moment while I bang my head against the wall and see if I can knock some sense into it. The little oxen are so cute I can't even stand it. I see that I need that Suqqu powder. I thought you looked a little tired - no shade, still gorgeous - just like you've been working too hard (which is probably true). But then you laid that powder on under your eyes and WALA! I could see it "fix" one, then the difference between the two, and then both with the powder. I paused, went back and watched that section again. Wow. I'm sure it's ruinously expensive but I'm in the market for a new powder anyway and I've been thinking I should do that Selfridge's shipping thing and blah de blahblah. I didn't buy Year of the Rat last year, as I was born on an Ox year and was holding out for this years' design (its so cuuuute). I was still a bit unsure, but I actually don't own any blue squirrel brushes sssoooooo... your video convinced me. 😂

I don’t generally pickup the Lunar New Year brushes because I get the annual Wayne Goss Holiday brush. But it seems Wayne didn’t release one in 2020 so I might consider getting it. My only hesitation is that I’m STILL waiting to use my Z1 & Z9. Just haven’t been using much powder these days🙁
I totally forgot about that! I guess Wayne held off because of his makeup releases? If you have both Z brushes, then you’re good. This one is a shorter version of the Z-9.

Should one be careful when handling this brush regarding the design? Like should it be held more toward the brush head rather than the handle? I wouldn't want the art to rub off!

Yes, and I think ideally it will be stored flat in a drawer. You can still hold the brush on the handle as it yields a better blend technique.
