Hello Nick and Happy New Year! 🎉 This is a wonderful video about Luz-which I knew nothing about. If you have more videos with this style (visit with locals)-you have a winning formula to assist those considering relocating to the Algarve. More please. 😃
I am from England, I have came to Luz with my family for 10 days. It is truly amazing to see. I love all of it. People are so friendly and the food is 10/10 definitely recommend!
Beautiful, thank you for this video. Was nice watching it. I already met Dietmar and he of course is also one of the helpful guys. I love Luz also and I'm looking forward to play at Habana Bar in summer. :)
Thank You Nick! My family went in vacations the whole month of July to Praia da Luz since 1971 to the early 2000s. The sports bar used to be a supermarket, then a bar. I'm not sure, but I think Baptista started there. In the late 1970s moved to the biggest building just outside the church largo on the road to Lagos. Paul McCartney stayed in Luz in a place called Quinta das Redes (Close to Concha) when he discovered Algarve. When I was a kid there was only one resort called Luz Bay Club (or was it Luz Beach Club ?) Luz was once a meca for windsurf when the sport started to be popular in Portugal. Thank you for the History section! I'm not sure if this is right but, the name Luz seems to have came from a Light (a beacon) to help in the Southern Camino de Santiago (the same as Luz de Tavira).
Just love your videos Nick! My husband and I plan on leaving the US in 2 years and the Algarve is one of my first choices. Your awesome videos are helping to solidify that. Now just to decide which community?!
Happy new year nick I would like to get back to luz missed the last 6 years your videos are brilliant love seeing them brings tears to my eyes but your videos are worth it
Hi Nick,Merry Belated Christmas Wishes and hopefully a more Peaceful and Prosperous New Year for the WORLD. It’s been a while since I came across one of your videos,I don’t know why the absence but here it is. I must tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and especially showcasing the variety of restaurants and cafes in that part of the world. As a viewer of many UA-cam videos,I enjoy it when the producer walks in a restaurant or cafe places and showing what they’ve ordered and the bill which normally surprises me of how cheap or reasonable it is to eat out. Thanks Again for your work 👍
Thank you. Keeping notes on where to go. Will be in Praia da Luz for three weeks in March. Just got back from staking out waves for a month in Nazare (Yes. I got to see giants). Before that, Lagos, Lagos, and Alvor in the last three years. PT is awesome.
Hey Nick, we spent a few weeks in Luz early last year and intend to spend a lot more time there in the future. Lovely to see some of our favourite places. Just off to chat with Carl Munson on the Good Morning Portugal Show 👍
Nick Happy New Year thank you for this video I really enjoyed watching it and thanks to your friend Digmar hope spelt it ok what a good person and all the people you spoke to seemed so friendly wow, yes great location too 🙏
Absolutely loved this video and this style of content Nick. Well done and thanks to Dietmar too! And Fireman Sam, what a funny coincidence that was! Does David live in Praia da Luz?
Very interesting and informative video. Great job Nick! I'm surprised the population hasn't grown that much in 100 years. I would guess the next 100 may be different.
Hello Nick, I’m from the uk and have only just discovered your channel. Very impressed! We’re considering moving to Portugal and wondering if any of the restaurants are open in the winter months. Brian.
Hey Brian, welcome to the channel! Strangely, this January it's been REALLY tough to find restaurants open. It feels like the whole Algarve had such a good year that they've all taken January off. Some restaurants are open for sure but remember that Monday is the most difficult day to eat out. Most restaurants are closed then.
@@AlgarveAddicts hi Nick , thanks very much. How is humidity in the house in the winter time ? Should we try to find a house with energy certificate A or B and central heating /AC in this area to make sure to live comfortably ? Thanks !
Great video, Nick! Even these small towns have something to offer. It might not serve everyone’s needs but it’s a great place to see the beach and have lunch.
Hi Christina, no it's very small. No theaters or cinemas. The community gets together and meet on the beach, do dance classes at the cultural center and congregate around other events and fairs.
I want to setup a place in algarve to spend up to 2 months in the winter and a couple of weeks in the summer looking at lagoa down to lagos. Any tips for when i come over to do a reccy?
@@AlgarveAddicts Wow. That's great. Is it really quiet this time of year? I would think it gets really quiet in winter. Also, is a car rental necessary to visit the Algarve or is there public transportation? Thanks in advance for any reply. Great channel by the way. I've been to Portugal but never made it to the Algarve
Hi I'm looking to move to albuferia for 2 months over summer I was wondering what jobs I could get for the 2 months I'm coming from Ireland 19 years old ?
Hi Daniel, you'd have to look online for bar, hotel and restaurant jobs or construction. Facebook is possibly your best bet and for the more formal jobs possibly even LinkedIn.
Very nice area. Unfortunately it’s pretty small not much going on and you have depend on Lagos for most necessities. But still a nice and friendly little village.

Brilliant video made me want to go to Praia da Luz. Saw you in Tavira yesterday hope you're making one of the films about here.
An in-depth look at Tavira and surroundings would be awesome. 👍🏻
I'll definitely get over there soon. I want to redo my Lagos and Tavira videos. Susan, why didn't you come over and say hi? 👋🏼
We’ll be in Tavira in early/mid March. I’ll definitely say “Hi” if i spot you. 👀

Yes. We struggle with humidity all the time.
You forgot Latitude, Ollie’s Bar and Barrocca! These are the best places in Luz!
Hey Buzz, I didn't forget them, I've never heard of them! 😊
Zazu is my absolute favorite restaurant ❤

Absolutely, great spot. 👍🏼
❤
Lovely place. Is there anything else to do besides visit restaurants and bars? Such as theater, cinema, etc…?
It’s very nice area but when I visited it felt a little like a retirement community. Very peaceful but not much going on.
Hi Christina, no it's very small. No theaters or cinemas. The community gets together and meet on the beach, do dance classes at the cultural center and congregate around other events and fairs.
Hi Santa Luz resto and bar is now closed sadly.............
Before I plan my scouting trip, I'll need to have a call with you Nick 🍻

It is quiet here in winter which is amazing. You get all these gorgeous beaches to yourself (when it's not raining). Yes, you'll need a car.
And Bosman's restaurante? 👀
Send me a pin, I must have walked right past it...

Yes, it's not far from Lagos and clearly has a strong connection with it's bigger sister.
More tourists and foreigners…
You're a local from Luz?
Yep it’s dead in the winter lol
Yup, that's one of the reasons I like it too! Aaah, peace and quiet. 😊
