I hope this video answered the question that was received. it was very hard to make videos. I lost my voice last week. Although my voice wasn't back I still wanted to record. So I sat down and recorded nine videos. I haven't batch recorded in a long time.
Please submit questions you may have. I am trying to answer them all in video format.

Thanks so much for answering my question. Definitely helped me out. I've been doing a lot of reading and watching videos on gain staging. Would you agree that even before the Cakewalk input gain, the first and most important would be getting my level where it needs to be by using the gain on my interface? Then if I need to tweak it a bit, I can use the input gain. I'm getting back into recording after a while so trying to learn more. Really enjoy your channel and thanks again!

@abc456f you’re welcome. Yes I agree that you should definitely get proper level from interface first. Of course you can always tweak in Cakewalk.

    (question👋🏾)
When I am getting ready to record and I sit my preamp levels to hit around -10db, my vocals are extremely low and barely picking up my voice. am I supposed to still record at that level (-10db) and then add a plug-in to raise the vocals up or do I turn the preamp up more?
    (Second question)
When I gain stage/trim the beat, do I do the same for the vocals? And do I use a plugin to rise the beat level back up after trimming it. if so, what is a rule of thumb I can use to get the right level for the beat and vocals
If you do not understand what I am saying, can you please make a video on what you do at the start of a project as in show what you do for the beat and then show what you do for the vocal preamp levels.

The answer is No. You should leave the gain in 0 db and record your vocal to hit around -10 dbfs or more As long as it doesn't clipping (or hit 0 dbfs). Because when you record something that to low and raised the level after it will raised the noise. I hope this is help
