The irony is... it's Mark's defense mechanism to point out defense mechanisms of others. That way he can be in control of the situation by making others feel awkward about themselves. I hate when people manipulate me like that. It's not healthy. I love these guys though. Classic psychology right there. Haha.

I've noticed this heaps, mark always belittles tom to make himself seem the more level-headed or mature in the group, you see it develop into something less joking and more sinister after their enema boom. Kinda sad how jealousy, pressure from peers and insecurity can tear apart friendships like this. Tom is always the underfigure character around Mark, due to mark always making him feel stupid. Hence why Tom has wanted to get away, so he can feel like a useful person and grow into his own feelings and interests comfortably/ confidently. Even when they first re-joined and they'd be doing interviews, Tom would be trying to convey his (spacey) but somewhat thoughtful feelings, and Mark would just be like "you're so weird dude" and take over the conversation. I don't think it makes any one of them better or worse, it's just an unfortunate dynamic that's developed over time, pretty common with personalities in duos.
