- This is where the Truck almost kills Curtis. Make the first exit in Leland off of Interstate 74 (about 10 miles west of Wilmington, North Carolina) and the former gas station now known as the Kicking Mule is right there. Other Locations: The Bridge used in the opening scene is The Isabel Holmes Bridge. It was also used in the movie 'The Cat's Eye'. Take 74 until it becomes 17, then follow signs to Wrightsville Beach and you can't miss it. If you want to see the neighborhood where the Ice Cream Truck and Lawnmower terrorize, head into Wilmington on 17, turn left on S 3rd street until you come to Market. Make right on Market, then go to Kenwood Street and make a left. You will go past a church and then run into Shirley. (Intersection of Kenwood Shirley). You can find some of the houses filmed in the movie there. The Dixie Boy Truck Stop is gone but you can view the Location (it is now fenced in). It is located on I 74 at Estes Truck Lines One mile before the Leland exit approx. 10 miles outside of Wilmington, North Carolina. The Steamroller Baseball Field is in a park adjacent to where the former Dixie Boy Truck Stop Movie Set was.
"Curtis...? Is he deeeeead?"
TheAssassin650 ha my favorite movie
TheAssassin650 me and my mom love this move and we will randomly say that 😂
Love to see it. brings good old memories.it was a former gas station 26 years ago. i miss those 80's.
I hope I can visit this place someday.
my grandma and god father drove trucks threw north Corina and stopped at the dixie boy before it was used in the movie she was the one who told me about the movie
I knew these spots, I never realized the opening scene was Isabella Holmes.
Thanks for sharing this.. One of my favorite "bad" movies..
Camera looks like it's zoomed in throughout this entire clip.
youTube USED to have a "stabilize" feature that was pretty neat.. Made the camera float rather than jar with every step..
I am watching this movie now, and it was great to see it then and now!
Thank for sharing the video 9-6-18
I lived in Castle Hayne outside of Wilmington about 8 years ago, never knew this movie was filmed there until now.
My favorite truck in that movie was "Bertha">
That’s Where The Semi Crashed Into The Store When It After Curtis
best bad movie ever!!
Did anyone not notice the railroad crossing it was also featured in the movie as well if you go back and look at the movie you can see that Crossing was part of the location
the clock is not there?
I probably drove past there numerous times
está padre el lugar es bonito
I was born in Wilmington and know of some of the streets there, My aunt lived on Metts Ave till her death in 1999 and my parents lived on Wrightsville ave till they moved to FL in 1960
Anyone know the street address for this place and if it is still there?
Yes it's still there. It's called The Kicking Mule now. I live in Leland and pass the place all the time.
Yup, I work about a mile from it
That's the kickin mule
There was no top of the roof.just a lit up advertisement sign with a yellow arrow pointing left of the roof .That was how the hip roof was built, no tear off.just and advertisement sign on top.and they took it down.
I've heard rumors that the old Dixie boy billboard is still up somewhere I'm Wilmington or at least what's left of it. Has anyone seen it?
I would be interested to know this also.. Thanks!
They should re do this movie with todays CGI 😲. But keep it set back in the 80s. exact same story. Shit you could see if Emilio could play the same guy again. Just switch his character to the older cool guy hero. All 80s still. Way more raw and horror . Rob Zombie should do it with Stephen King onset. That would be dope. Zombie has a great eye for that 70s 80s setting.
thats fuckin awesome. I was just at the dixie boy location
the other Dixie boy that was used is off exit 61 I 95
Wats the name of the city?
Leland, North Carolina
CURTIS? IS HE DYEEAAD??!
