  • These Short Hair Hairstyles are Age-Defying! Looking for a chic and stylish haircut that's easy to manage? Look no further. In this video, I’ll show you the 5 best short hair hairstyles that are perfect for anyone looking to rock a short haircut. But First, get your Lume Starter Pack with over 40% off for new customers at: thld.co/lume_justinhickox23_0223 when you use JUSTINHICKOX23 at checkout.
    Whether you have straight hair, thick hair, wavy hair, fine hair or thin hair, these hairstyles are sure to make a statement. From edgy and bold to soft and feminine, there's a pixie cut out there for everyone.
    First up, we have a longer short hair hairstyle very similar to the Bixie Hairstyle. This timeless style is perfect for those who want a longer current look that's still stylish and sophisticated. This cut is perfect for anyone who isn’t ready to go super short but still wants to accentuate their facial structure.
    Next, we have a few hairstyles that are versions of longer pixie hairstyles. These styles are all about creating volume and texture in the right places, and are perfect for people who really want to lift their faces (like mini face lifts). They are the perfect mix of edgy and feminine.
    For those who want a more dramatic look, we have an undercut pixie. This is probably my favorite of the short pixie hairstyles and is great for those who really want an edgy short hairstyle that can also be styled very polished and conservative.
    Last on the list we have the short pixie. This is a low maintenance style that’s great for anyone with small bone structure. They have a ton of movement and texture and scream confidence.

      In my honest opinion (as a hairdresser of 20 years as well) short hair does not draw attention to any body part any more than long hair would. So wear whatever hair style you wish! If anything, a short style is a focal piece and draws everyones attention upward and away from where you you don't want focus. In my opinion clothing does a lot more for hiding and balancing what you may perceive as a problem area. Hair is all about accentuating your lovely face.

      It creates the problem of small round head atop a large round body. Doesn't look great, on me or anyone else I've seen. 80s mall hair, with more curl and layers and less damage, is the way to go.
      I'm just a person with 80s mall hair and eyes.

    Oh wow… this came at such a funny time! I’ve had short hair, sometimes extremely short hair, for many years. While on lockdown and all the Covid happening I grew my hair out to almost shoulder length. (It is white -I’m 75- and texture is fine).. this looked ok snd I got compliments on my color mostly.. but one day I saw a reflection and thought “Omg I’m one of the Golden girls!!! Lol.. “. I looked old and dated. I’ve always loved an edgy cut and look..I’m very thin, worked in cosmetics and tend to wear black, I never go out without makeup/jewelry and it’s all about drama….sooo! Off came the hair! I left the sides a bit less tight (I used to shave the sides and nape-this time it is about an inch scissor cut-overall layers-very choppy-top a TINY bit longer. I spike it up on top and it feels like me..(long face and all! ..but the upward movement of the hair helps lift my face and take away from the fullness around the slight jowl I have.
    I was recently shopping with my granddaughter, and a woman came up to me. She said she was a hairdresser and just wanted to say how she thought my look was so exceptional. I feel like me! Yes, I know short hair is not for everyone… but it is nice to stand out a bit. I think the versatility is amazing..I wish more stylists would show more ideas like this. Thank you for taking on the subject.

A young man in his 20’s ran up to me in Costco yesterday to tell me I looked hot! Lol I think it is all about confidence and feeling “home”. Hi Justin! Love your videos. And I thought your assessment was spot on!! The only comment I have is that the name of this video is about short hairstyles for women over 50, yet the women you show, none of them have a double chin or a “turkey” neck, which is what a lot of women that age contend with. And which is exactly why I can’t wear shorter styles. 😔 To do so emphasizes my chin, jaw and or neck. I’m 67 and wear my hair in an inverted Bob with the longer hair in front “covering” my chin from my profile. You know what I mean? I wish you could do a video on hairstyles that can help distract away from the many flaws a woman can have. Like being overweight, too round a face, elongated ear lobes, pointy head, flat head in the back, lol etc. Thanks Justin. Love you!!

    I actually LOVE everyone of these cuts! I was told a long time ago that I should never have short hair because I'm so short (I'm not small in stature IM SHORT!!! Lol) I'm only 4ft tall and she said that it would cut off the eye, or somethin like that. Like I told her though, a hair length ain't gonna help your girl out at 4 ft!!
    What I like the thought of is just opening up my fave a bit, so I look more alive, and awake! I wish I knew how to do that, without cutting my hair.

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! I'm glad I can help. You crack me up! The idea of having your hair short does make sense in that the longer it is, the more potential it has to overwhelm you simply due to your height and the lengths proximity to the floor basically. If your hair is thicker, that concern is compounded. With that said, shorter is relative. Haing it around your shoulders could be short enough, going shorter could be better...may not be, depending on a lot of factors. Layering your hair around the face tends to open your face up a bit. Simply styling to back off the face also helps.

      @justinhickox  Рік тому +30

      HEY Deborah! I'm honored that you saw the video and love it!!! I LOVE your style! I've had a couple people mention that it goes against what I say in the video. Your face is on the longer side so technically this style should draw your face out too much. Here's why I love this style for you regardless of that...I touched on it in the video, CONFIDENCE! It's the same reason you can see someone on the street wearing an outfit that looks like an explosion of craziness, clashes in every way and somehow you still look at them and think, "they're rockin' that outfit!!". You take an edgy style and wear IT instead of letting it wear you...THAT is when it becomes a showstopper like you and your style. SO, send this to every damn hater you have along with the name of a good optometrist so they can get their eyes fixed.

My hairsylist typically cuts my hair in a bob but now my hair shrinks up and becomes much shorter when dried. We can't seem to get the length right...too short and it ends up above the earlobe or too long and just past my shoulder and also as mentioned by others frizzy on the ends!!! I wore pixies when I was much younger until I got my first french school girl bob and fell in love with bob's. • @justinhickox

      Great question, it can be a few things that caused that, but likely the hair didn’t lift enough to get past the orange stage and into the less orange stage. There are a lot of factors that play though, so it’s tough to say.

      I’m a fine, curly so what I can tell you is that volume starts with your wash. Make sure you’re actually cleaning all of your product out and not putting heavy conditioner. Next make sure your stylers are lightweight. I recommend leave in spray since they are lighter and a water soluble pomade. If you use heat as protectant. Last make sure you dry your roots lifted, clips, round brush (straight) or even just the handle of a comb to get it off your scalp. Finish with an oil or serum and fluff like there’s no tomorrow. You’ll have volume guaranteed.

Everything else on me is pretty moderate, eyes and cheeks, bone structure, build, muscle, height, weight. I do have a long vertical line visually. I look taller than my height of 5’8” but I’ve learned to dress in a way to make this happen. A longer length at the sides would probably be best for my shape however, in the next 5 to10 years, I may just embrace my longer face and go for a super short cut with some wildness to it. I'm a new follower so be patient with me if this is a topic you've already covered. I'm 71 and have very, very thick, long blonde/grey hair. When I go short (which hasn't been often) my hair gets more and more frizzy. It seems the length and the weight pulls a lot of the frizz out. Crazy, right? I want to send you an email to see what in the world I should do with this mane of hair I have. I've been blessed with hair that almost never has split ends and people stop me in the stores to tell me what beautiful hair I have so I don't want to upset that applecart too much. I like the compliments, but as I age and as arthritis starts showing up, my long hair is becoming more and more difficult to manage. Also, my face is full as is the rest of me...if you get my meaning. How do I go about sending you a request? I'm loving the content in your posts and I'm very glad I found you.

      Thank you! Welcome to the fam! You're not wrong in that length can pull out wave or curl (depends on the texture) and that can result in the illusion of more frizz when going shorter. Typically it's just a matter of being shown how to approach the styling process to deal with that. With that said, styling can be a bit of a struggle arthritis. It could be a situation of going either leaving it on the longer side or going short enough that the styling process is so easy that it's a non issue. BUT, that length requires a level of comfort with it. If you're not comfortable with going that short, it could create a larger problem than the frizz...you hating your hair. Hope that helps a little!

      I don't think you should cut it. You'll regret it. Especially if you get compliments for that long thick hair, those won't come anymore if you look like everybody else suddenly! Don't try to fix what's not broken, just saying. Be grateful for what you've got and that you stand out from the rest of the population. Plus if you go short, your face and body will look fuller... and that's not something to look forward to...

      @@justinhickox Thankyou, Justin. I appreciate your sharing your knowledge and wisdom with me. You are correct in your assessment (no surprise there). The one time in my life that I did go short, I felt like a newborn baby bird with my feathers sticking out everywhere. I do so enjoy your channel and I do appreciate your taking the time to film the episodes and for sharing your talents with us. I think for now I'll leave well enough alone.

      I’m 75 and had short hair (even spiky style) most of my life. It’s super fine and flat on my small head. Each morning I’d wake up with it looking like a tomahawk so I’d have to shampoo it to get it flat. I now have it past my shoulders and the other day had a perm to give it body. Boy am I loving it. It’s so easy to look after and only needs washing once maybe twice a week. I wear it up mostly in a casual style or if I need to I can have a more sophisticated look. From the time I was a child I wanted long curly hair and now I have it and love it. 😊

    Style #4, your favorite, elongates the face. The first two views of the cut seem to be of faces that are already long, therefore it shouldn't work for them, but it does. Why is that? It's confusing.

    • @justinhickox
      @justinhickox  Рік тому +4

      I hear ya, part of its simply because the photos show confidence, if that makes any sense. Being confident really goes a long way towards pulling off a look. Also, it’s not that elongating your face (for folks with long faces) CAN’T work, it’s that it’s smart to be aware of how the shape is effecting the face. If there was a slight bit more length on the sides of those pics, they’d likely be more “flattering” but this goes to show that these are all rules of thumb and not rules to live by. Not sure if that’s the answer you’re wanting but hope it helps a bit.

    I love your channel! However I think we should get used to saying how to look good for your age, not how to look younger. It almost seems like we should all be striving to look 10 years younger when truly most people do look their age. It puts a lot of pressure on middle aged woman.
    I do enjoy your videos and am impressed with your skills!😀❤️

      Thank you! I appreciate that a lot. I actually agree with you completely. I really try to ride that line on my channel. The tough part is, when I lean into the "looking more youthful/ or looking the best for your age" titling/ keywords, the videos don't get as much reach. So, if I want to get the videos out to a larger audience, I find using the "looking younger" performs far better. I try to explain the "looking more youthful" messaging in my videos as often as possible so viewers of my channel understand my overall concept with them.

    Thank you for a great video!
    After Covid and not having a real hair cut since 2016, I’m ready for short which I’ve had before. It’s just the maintenance. My thinner Asian hair would still require alot of texturing and frequent upkeep.
    If you don’t have a hair designer and expert cutter in your family, you’re kinda throwing the dice in my experience.

    You are so spot on with all!! As I mentioned in a previous comment, your honesty is golden! I respect and value your advice and now I need to find a stylist who can actually cut a good haircut!! I LOVE short hair, but I always end up getting a crappy cut, letting it grow out and just wear a ponytail. I'm 58 years old and I want an adult haircut! 😘 Again, thank you for sharing your wisdom! ❤❤
