    (Version 3.4.2) If you don't see the BlendShapes Component, don't worry, use Mesh Component instead (it's secretly a Blendshapes Component). However, you may need to import your fbx without using legacy loader.
    FBX legacy loader puts the blendshapes into a separate component, and the Blendshapes Component included in the Expressions controller (now called Mesh Component despite being a Blendshapes component) assumes that the Blendshapes Component is under RenderMeshVirtual component, so you need to not use the FBX legacy loader in order to have the Blendshapes Component under RenderMeshVirtual component.
    You can check if the Blendshapes Component is under the Render Mesh virtual component by clicking the fbx you imported and collapsing the Render Mesh Virtual Component. If the Blendshapes Component collapses too, then it's under the Render Mesh Virtual Component.
    I've written component more times in this comment than ever in my life.

      I can testify that Blender does not need the legacy FBX importer, and if you use it the blendshapes will NOT work. After two weeks of beating my head against the wall trying to get face expressions working after importing with the legacy FBX importer, all it took to fix my problem was to import my model with the default settings (legacy FBX importer NOT checked)
      I wish I had read the comments sooner. I wasted a lot of time with trial and error when the answer was here all along.

    this is an awesome tutorial, by the way! One of the best (except for the part about using the legacy FBX importer, which undermined my success for two weeks) But the rest of the video did a great job of showing step-by-step what to do

      @@creativehans I followed your tutorial pretty closely except for the legacy importer. I also opted to model my character with separate meshes for all the movable features, since I find it easier to move geometry that doesn't require deforming anything else. I wasn't sure if using multiple meshes that way would work, but it does. I used a separate jaw and separate eyelids that rotate on "hinges", since Blender lets you set the axis of rotation for a component within a model.

      @@patrickmarr7076 I've been using Cinema4D for all my 3D models, so maybe that's why I couldn't get it to work unless I used the legacy option. Good to know that it works for you now!

    If you don't mind, I have a question. After made the SnapChat filter, Can I use it on PC? I want to use it on my computer with OBS or Zoom.

      Hey, you can use a service called SnapCamera. It's available for free, you can copy-paste the URL to your snapchat lens in there and it will work in your livestream if you set up the Snapcamera as your webcam input.

    Oh, is it possible to have a snapchat lens (a 3D character) that could do 3D body tracking & facial expression at the same time?

    • @creativehans
      @creativehans  Рік тому

      Hey, I've given it a try but it's hard. First of all you will have performance issues if you try launching your lens on the phone with scripts for both lens types enabled. Second of all, you will overcomplicate your project and make it hard to work with for yourself. Third of all: the camera won't be able to capture the user's face from a distance anyway.

    Hello friend, nice tutorial ! I got there until I saw that the ExpressionsController now don't have the function to link components, just the mesh. Is it a regression from 3.4 ? Or maybe I did some wrong... I'll let you know if I am able to figure it out. Thanks a lot still !

      I also have the same issue. Have watched the tutorial twice now in case I had missed something. Still no luck getting the blendshapes to work inside LensStudio. After clicking the "ExpressionsController", there is no option for "Blendshapes component" like in your tutorial, it's replaced with "Mesh component". I have not accidentally deleted the face mesh, so I don't know why it won't work :( I also have LensStudio 3.4

      Ok so it worked !... after I applied modifiers for my materials. I had to apply them after making the blenshapes, so as I used blender I had to make copies of my model, apply the modifiers and re assign the key shapes. The problem is that when render, there's an auto "apply modifiers" thing going on, and that wipes out the blendshapes. Also you may be right, I may have deleted the wrong mesh at some point also lol.jpg

      @@Elliot12367 yes. I guess the exporting parameters differ but that was my problem exporting key shapes. Also dont forget to check FBX legacy loader in Lens when importing. Hope u succeed !
