Sounds like absolute heaven. I’m 64 and my husband is 69 and we have dreamt of living like this all our lives but couldn’t afford it until now and it’s too late. Good luck to you both from an envious couple xx
Experience the wonder at any age, yes. But the body ages more quickly than the spirit! Recognizing one’s limitations is a wisdom to be learned… appreciation of someone else’s journey has its merits, too. I was blessed with a natural and full summer and autumn of life- at 66, the memories will warm my winter years.
If we truly love our children, grandchildren and next generations then every effort of getting out of the ill system to return to a healthier life in nature, is required, my family moved offgrid 8 ys ago in rural Romania, together with my 75 ys old mom that worked hard with us ,we planted thousands of shrubs and trees on our land and the deforested hills around us, build several buildings with cob, garden, collecting water from all the roofs, in two ponds, we help aged villagers as often as we can, organize an annual nearby forest cleaning with volunteers and more..Never give up, city brothers and sisters, no matter the age, the money , we need to shift this together..❤
That old garden bed looks so much better and I see you got rid of the old freezer too. Congratulations on the arrival of Starlink! Precious cargo indeed, Katie! Can't wait to see how it works for you. BTW, absolutely LOVED the mainland walk and the old kirk. I love exploring places like that. Cheers to you both.
Katie you had said a MacIsaac lived in the cottage. I chatted with family and my dad had often said we were from the Isle of Skye. My ancestors came from Scotland to Newfoundland and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia coal mining. We are of the Clan Ranald, MacDonald of the Isles. Now I have to go to Scotland AGAIN!
I have a similar MacDonald ancestry lineage taking them to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and eventually to Boston, Massachusetts. Have never been to Scotland but it is on my bucket list for sure. Just came upon your UA-cam channel and am captivated.
You’re near the White Sands of Morar. You’re very lucky to have that area as a backdrop and your island home has tranquility in abundance. Wish I was there.
So beautiful! I wish you guys were able to have visitors! Your island looks like a dream! I’m sure it is hard at times though! I can only imagine the feel of history there. It looks so spiritual to me!
Loved seeing the old Kirk . Very interesting , & all the old gravestones , lots of history there . The white frost on the grass was beautiful , how lucky you are , the peacefulness . Thankyou for sharing 😘
Beautiful historic graves and old buildings, I love history so it was right up my alley. Beautiful beach, and those razor clams would taste delicious with Garlic and butter. Beautiful. Gardening never ends! I am restoring part of my garden myself too and it certainly builds muscles 😄Love it. Thank you my lovelies xx Teresa ❤🇦🇺
Such a great pity that they have not looked after the kirks and graves, I wonder who are responsible in this day and age of those old ruins. What a beautiful view. I have never been to Scotland and seeing your views of the Hebrides etc makes me want to explore Scotland now. I have always wanted to see Hadrian's wall, most probably now is the time to go. As before I was too far to go as I lived first in Rhodesia, then in South Africa, then The Netherlands, now that I have moved to the UK onwards and upwards to discover more lands. Katie's face when she saw she got something on the game camera was priceless and well done in getting your Star link, now that will be a game changer for you both. Have a lovely day and thank you for your beautiful videos. Katie you have a beautiful singing voice.
When I was in Scotland we travelled to Skippness and took a ferry to Arran I thought the clouds touch the sea. I felt so close to the sky. We also went to Oban, a little too city for me but beautiful from MacCaigs Folley looking down. If I had only known how close I was to my own heritage there we could have went a little further LOL
Thank you for sharing this magical place with us. I guess it's my family connection to Scotland, a feeling deeply rooted in my DNA, but, I certainly have a longing to visit Scotland, very soon! The cemetery tour was especially interesting, that very ornate and old one, the boat in that armorial was very telling.
Hello….. Starlink hoorah!!!!! You deserve it…. Lovely filming on the mainland, beautiful crispy mornings on the island, was that a Pine martin on the camera? See ya soon xx❤❤
Brought back some good memories of a holiday at Arisaig / Mallaig area . Beautiful beach and views of Rum , Eigg etc . Enjoyed your trip to the Kirk . If your post that was delivered was in England, I doubt if it would still be there when you went to collect 😬🫤
The site of snow on top of green grass and crocuses pushing up is familiar and brought up old memories of being the first person in Maryland to take my shoes off in the spring and the last one to put them back on in November. I remember being barefoot, wearing a sweater, and seeing the forsythia in bloom and crocuses pushing up through the snow. I also remember playing with the snow on the grass with my bare toes. Thinking about it now, it's possible that I escaped appropriate adult supervision on occasion as a child. The water flowing under the ice on the rock creating air bubbles was a very cool effect and I ended up watching it several times. I suppose it reminds me of lava lamps in a way.
I loved your message ❤️ I think we're kindred spirits. I had to laugh at "I may have lacked adult supervision" 😃 I'll be 75 in May, and I'm still lacking adult supervision 😃 Free spirits we are 😃
Its great that you've got a Pine Marten as a regular visitor. Despite all of our stays in cottages up and down the far north west coast we've never managed to spot one, even on our trail cam. Keep showing the trail cam footage in my opinion please.
The old ruins are incredible! The stories that are lost in time ... I was noticing your vintage handbag while you were exploring .. love it. Take care ❤
I love how curious the sheep are, they have to have a look and see what's what. So cute. Katie, I would totally be looking in all the pools on the seashore. I love a good rocky beach.
The coastal areas of the northern Olympic Peninsula in Washington state of USA is very similar to your area. Mountains and sea, cold but not much snow in the winter. Temperate in summer with a few hot days. Scots settled here as shown by road names like Kirk, Reddick, Cameron, and Laird. Thank you for your videos.
I am so glad the Starlink arrived! Hopefully the installation will go smoothly. The scenery was fantastic in the episode and quite exciting to see the pine martin!
Absolutely incredible loved the Kirk so interesting I will never tire of seeing views and sights of Scotland 🏴 best move I’ve ever made , so much more to see and explore, thank you for taking us along with you on your island journey 😊❤xx
Hi guys. Think a few videos ago i heard a Raven but unsure. Would recommend the free Merlin bird ap if you do not have it. You can switch on to hear and identify a bird. Probably the 95th person to mention this if so apologies. I will go back in my corner. Keep up the good work.
Is your nocturnal critter a pine marten? It looks too big to be a weasel. Katie, I don't care how old the song is that you sing - you have a lovely voice. Hooray, Starlink arrived!
Nice to see you out and about again. That coastline is always so stunning. Congrats with getting Starlink, that will hopefully make your lives a lot easier.
I've just found your lovley blog its wonderful. Im watching from salt lake city, utah in the usa. I think you should buy a metal detector someday it could be fun. Good kuck I'm looking forward to ti know you better😊.
Fascinating video. A wee daft point, because I felt hungry. The shell fish, like razor clams and mussels, you will find on your island, must be some of the cleanest and pollution free, you would find anywhere off the coast of Europe. Though I get your point about them being filter feeders. But other animals like fish, feed on them. Also the coughing you heard might well have been deer. I dont know how big your island is. But I remember once when I was in a remote part of Ireland, I heard what thought was someone coughing outside, at night. The next day my Irish host told me he hears a lot and it is stags making their stag noises in the night. Ive also heard a poorly sheep coughing in the night, which thought might have a human.
Hats off to the pair of you! Winter time must be tough on an island. Really dig the videos, making my jealous living down here in Paisley (so good they named it once). Great to see the progress you are both making and i especially admire the realism of the videos. All the best! and keep the videos coming.
WOW! So much to see and discover. Who is responsible for the graves and old buildings? This is history from beneath. The scenery at the beach was outstanding. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Hi, guys. Are you going to get some chickens? You are so lucky to have an island all to yourselves. I am really looking forward to the renovation project and, of course, what you are going to grow.. and possibly a couple of fruit trees. 😊

Would absolutely love to live somewhere like this, but prices are so high because it's more financially rewarding to rent out a cottage to summer holiday makers than have an actual person live there 24/7/365.
On Scotland's rugged western shores, Where waves kiss land forevermore, Lies Morar with her silver sands, A place where heaven is at hand. The sun, a setting orb in sky, Paints sea with hues that never die, And there, the sands stretch wide and free, A canvas for dreams and memories. Each grain, a whisper of ancient tales, Carried by winds 'cross hills and dales, Sky, Eigg and Rum look from afar, At Morar's sands beneath the stars. 😉
Love your channel and thought I had watched every episode but I can’t recall it being explained how the quad bike is driven from the island to the mainland (maybe I missed one or two episodes). At the end of the day although I’m a little confused I love watching you both on the beautiful island.
There are low tides in which we can use an old ford across the channel, but not always, so rowing or kayaking is our main means of transport from the island to the mainland.
Another brilliant video Katie and Scott. I am thoroughly enjoying your adventures on the Island, so thank you so much for sharing. The wild life cameras are fab and it's exciting to see what footage you have caught. BTW What was that animal .. certainly not a deer??!! Glad that you got your precious cargo and that it's going to make so much difference to you ..enjoy!! Can I just ask what you are doing at the front of the cottage (apart from digging at the moment, I know)? Will you be paving it or is it to grow plants and veg in? Thank you again for sharing.
It was a pine marten! They're quite elusive, so it's great to see it. We'll be 're-wilding' the front of the cottage, somewhat. I'd love to have some wildflowers and more grass (goodbye paving slabs!). Just depends if the sheep eat 'em all! The slabs need to go so we can sort out the drainage anyway. Kx

Katie's game face when she has a critter show up on the game cam .. PRICELESS.. you guys are salt of the earth!! ❤
lol, Im excited too to see the starlink and the critter caught on video, lovely stroll through McDonald history as well.

The things you can find on the shore from the ocean giving up her treasures; I also love stones/rocks shells & dift wood It’s beautiful
Thanks so much for taking us along on your trek. I so enjoy the history of places and you do a fantastic job of storytelling.

So delighted about Starlink. Wonderful news.

May the Starlink be with you! Congrats!!!!
Love the frozen snow and view at the beginning.. one of my dogs was watching and I could tell she was wishing we were there! 😂
Lovely to see that beautiful old Scottish Kirk I came from Alexander MacDonald born 1772
The beach, (do you get "San Dollars"? Beautiful round white flat shells. The Isle of Skye and on your Isle...Priceless!

Hello katie and Scott, Thanks for sharing this video with me and others. Nice scenic views of the island. Looking forward to your next video.
Yes, there were lots of MacIsaacs in this area. Time for another visit, indeed! Kx
How exciting now the starling has arrived. Loved looking round the old church. ❤❤
I meant Starlink!😂😂🥰
Congratulations you got the Starlink 😊
You are so lucky!
I love snow drops and this cemetery is very cool😊
Great historical info on the old Kirk
I realised you are possibly off the coast of Mull. I have relatives there who look out to Skye. Absolutely magnificent spot.
This video is one of my top favorites and the beauty is awesome ❤️ thank you for the history. Each time I watch I want to visit 🤗❤️
Its great that you've got a Pine Marten as a regular visitor. Despite all of our stays in cottages up and down the far north west coast we've never managed to spot one, even on our trail cam. Keep showing the trail cam footage in my opinion please.

Thanks have a coffee when you are next on the mainland.
Wow, thank you very much! ❤️
Thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery of the coast and the lovely ancient Kirk! Beautiful vlog! ❤🌿

Thank you for the lovely videos, love seeing all the history of the Island. You two are wonderful listen to.
Thank you for explaining. Looking forward to the next episode 😊
The view of the beach is the same as in county Donegal here in Ireland 🇮🇪
Stunning beach scene. Thank you. 🙏 ❤
Good evening to all

You are the first to suggest it, sir! Thank you. I'm downloading it now... Kx
Fantastic news that star link is there! Loved the visit to the Kirk and the graveyard. But man does that half hour go fast.
You sing very well, Katie!
Nice explore today with all of the history! I'm happy you got your Skylink
cool!
The sunsets, sunrises and the smell of nature are stunning here in South Africa (different vegetation/sceneries in different provinces)
Is your nocturnal critter a pine marten? It looks too big to be a weasel. Katie, I don't care how old the song is that you sing - you have a lovely voice. Hooray, Starlink arrived!
'Tis a pine marten. We called it Martin. Kx
I would love to live like this! You lucky, lucky people
Hooray for Starlink! Lovely video. That old kirk was fascinating to see. Go, Katy -- excellent wood-splitting!
Nice to see you out and about again. That coastline is always so stunning. Congrats with getting Starlink, that will hopefully make your lives a lot easier.
WOO-HOO!!! I am so happy that you guys have received the Starling. I hope the set up goes well.I actually clapped when I saw the boxes.
What a great sight that box is at the end of the vlog 😊😊
I'm in 37 Celsius temperatures. At 8:30am everyone is rushing their dogs around to avoid them getting too heated later in the day.
Lovely thank you ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s spectacular seeing the hard frost….
I’d love to stay here. Ah peaceful 😊
Mallaig kippers…..best ever! Hard to find a good kipper in Australia…
I've just found your lovley blog its wonderful. Im watching from salt lake city, utah in the usa. I think you should buy a metal detector someday it could be fun. Good kuck I'm looking forward to ti know you better😊.
Great idea! We'd love that. Kx
My dream, it looks so much alike Brittany, the rock I was living on. That's paradise.
The next day my Irish host told me he hears a lot and it is stags making their stag noises in the night. Ive also heard a poorly sheep coughing in the night, which thought might have a human.
Your garden apron is coming in handy already. 😁
🤍Thanks, Emmy! x
Hats off to the pair of you!
Winter time must be tough on an island. Really dig the videos, making my jealous living down here in Paisley (so good they named it once).
Great to see the progress you are both making and i especially admire the realism of the videos.
All the best! and keep the videos coming.
Glad you like them!
WOW! So much to see and discover. Who is responsible for the graves and old buildings? This is history from beneath. The scenery at the beach was outstanding. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Well, the newer church will be responsible for the graves, but I read that the ruin/land isn't actually owned by anyone. Kx
Magic👍🏴.
Hi, guys. Are you going to get some chickens? You are so lucky to have an island all to yourselves. I am really looking forward to the renovation project and, of course, what you are going to grow.. and possibly a couple of fruit trees. 😊
We'd like to, but they'd require lots of protection from predators first. Kx
Another great video keep up the good work and hello from Warrington
Hello there! And thank you. Kx
Was nice to see you again, no I did not let the cheese age.. I dont have a place for it. I put it in saltwater in the fridge for a week . It was like white cheese but not like feta. It was harder. It was the first time I used liguid plant Lab/ Rennet.
But I am planing more.
Have you made cheese ?
Hope you have a great week, see you soon. Take care ❤
I would love to make cheese, it's the reason we got Brie the big sheep...then we fell in love with her and decided she is a pet instead. But, if we do get a cow to the island, that will definitely be something I do! I really hope we will. Kx
Must be something in our names Marie, that make us creative. I just make kefir cheese, it’s soft like cream cheese. It’s just so versatile. Today I mixed with an avocado, mashed, cannellini beans olive oil garlic bit of onion salt n pepper. I use as a dip or sandwich spread and fresh squeezed lemon

What a beautiful history lesson. Thank you. What kind of animal was it? Looked similar to a pine martin or weasel?
It's Martin, our local pine marten!
Would absolutely love to live somewhere like this, but prices are so high because it's more financially rewarding to rent out a cottage to summer holiday makers than have an actual person live there 24/7/365.
Beautiful 💚💚
Brilliant
Thank you. You are very lucky to have the beautiful scenery everyday. I enjoy it through the two of you. Katie did you catch a fox?
A pine marten. Looks a bit one-eyed. too!
@@TheScottishIsle I thought it looked one-eyed.
Brrrr looks freezing there guys!
I’m in a welsh mountain cottage so know your issues but don’t think it’s been as cold here?
The hand and the ship come from the Clan Donald coat of arms.
Great video
Razor clamps are delicious! Just let them preg in clean water 24 hours. No chemicals will be left. 😅😅❤😂
Nice!!
Thanks!
