- Welcome! I made a video. This is a simple video of me riding into Manhattan from Brooklyn on Broadway. Ive ridden this stretch more times than id like to know.
I am open to suggestions of where to ride and what to film! Drop a line in the comments. I plan to do more tours eventually. (like this: • New York City Cycling ... )
This is mostly a camera test. I am learning to shoot and edit video. Got a GoPro to shoot after more than a decade of riding and taking photographs. This is my first time working with video, so bear with me!
Open to technical feedback too---
Things id like to improve: Artifacting with the ND. Stabilization. Not as sharp as i'd like. I'm using a gimbal, and hypersmooth on the GoPro, yet things are still not how i'd like. I think i need to set a faster shutter to get sharper frames. A work in progress. Join me as i learn to become fluent in video.

After watching Terry's first Roughcut of you riding though NYC I got back into cycling, bought a fixed gear bike, and finally found a way to revisit my love for film editing with cycling edits. So glad to see you making your own videos now! You're riding style is definitely my favorite of all the hotline content and helped me develop my riding motto: "speed is cool, but grace is above all"

the spots! I can carry this little black box easier than a hunk of brass. I should do an edit called ''the spots' of all the phone videos from different vantage points. Undisclosed of course :P

Perhaps, you could do a next video showing us your bike (i'm very curious about your tires, are they solid tires?) and your favorites places to ride in NYC or even a "Hotline - Terry B." That would be awesome
Hotline Teryl has to happen. I'm happy to do a bike check style video. I should probably do this for all of my bikes.

jajaja definitely have 'close calls' on the regular-- they very rarely feel like (or actually are) real close calls though. Only thing is the camera is never rolling when they take place. Murphys Law. Some day i will ride in Buenos Aires, i cant wait! High on the list.
Glad to see someone else wear a mask while on a bike. Everyone in my city seems to think that it is a free pass not to wear one for some reason.
it's quite mind-boggling how many bodies on bikes do NOT wear masks while riding, or even have one on their chin at the ready.... sad. i dont always wear it, but any time i will be near anyone else, its on

You may have already done something similar but a tutorial of sorts for noobie fixed gear riders would be awesome. eg talk us through why you choose particular lines through traffic, thought process when you approach an intersection, what you're looking ahead for, reading the traffic, traffic flow etc

Your headlights are not bright enough, I don’t know if you have them on. LED headlights should show on the road under the elevated.
I have photos of the western half of the Williamsburg, but I’m planning to shoot another video starting at the Kosciusko.

Close proximity, not close call!! I say less than a few inches is close. Very common to be very close to vehicles (even oncoming traffic!) when stuff jumps out at you though... 🥵
