Epic Acoustic Rock Jam Track | Guitar Backing Track (F# Minor)

Your goal as a soloist is to create MELODY. Our neck diagrams give you the notes you can use to create that melody in REAL TIME. Think of the Diagrams as 3 layers of information:
1. PENTATONIC - The pentatonic scale works all the time and almost never changes, so this is the basic level.
2. MODE - The mode will always be the pentatonic PLUS 2 NOTES (modes have 7 notes). The mode can change depending on the chords (modal interchange).
3. CHORD - The chord layer shows you the notes of the chord changes (aka the HARMONY) in REAL TIME. Outgoing notes get smaller and fade out, incoming notes will fade in, so you know what notes to go for next.
In our app AlphaJams (currently in Beta), you will be able to control which layer you see, and how much of the neck you see. It should be out in the next few months, so please stay tuned!

This is a good example of why you should.
You're playing at a moderate speed, the camera angle is good, it's very easy to follow along and learn those licks.
If someone is intimidated by it, so what? It's not like you're going to beat them up if they don't play it.

I really like this kind of chord progressions for figuring out voice leading. My favorite technique for this progression is to hover around the 7th fret. Then you can rip on B major on F#, B phrygian for D, and B mixo to end it. In general, it's just treating every chord as mixo and then thinking about it relative to one scale center. Might be convoluted, but it's how I think

Key of F#m with F# as the I chord?
I've got so much to learn.
Play F#Maj on the I chord and target that major 3rd and bring it down to a minor 3rd for the chord change it will give your solo a lot more flavour
Both F# dorian and mixolydian will sound great over this track, just dont target the major 3rd on the B or D unless as a passing note

Yes, it is a very strange chord progression. It is definitely in F# minor - although I suppose you could argue that it is in F mixolydian for a second. The first thing to remember is that music theory is not an exact science. There is plenty of room for interpretation.
I interpret it like this:
The F# chord: To me the b6 still sounds good, so play Aeolian but raise the 3, or just play Aeolian and call the b3 a blues note. so what do you call that? Mixo b6??
The D chord is from F# Aeolian.
The B chord is F# Dorian.
Interesting progression. Why does the bVI work with the I and IV? I know it's a chromatic mediant of F# and D is another chromatic mediant to B. Is this why it works?
The D chord is F# Aeolian, the B is Dorian. The F# major is just BLUES! ✌🏼
