That giant moss pole for the el selvador is quite unnecessary. Why isit so big?

@@ericnyamu9981 it’s actually half the size of my regular moss poles, I think it looks bigger because the plant is small. The aim is to have the plant climb up the pole so having a pole that is only just bigger than the plant is kind of pointless because you’ll need to add an extension pretty quickly.

I’m sure in the rainforest, or anywhere in nature, vining plants don’t view trees, rocks, logs or even buildings as "too big". They simply "feel" the object and they attach. Such as a pothos indoors growing freely around my room. Attached to the wall. Obviously one vine does not need an entire room to grow in, but given the opportunity, we know it will over time. And I won’t need to do a thing for it!
The larger the support is, the more time it can support the plant. For comparison, the smaller a support is, the less time it’s going to be able to accommodate the plant, as the vine grows. In nature, that could be a small sapling tree, for example, which will inevitably bend & break as a vine grows on it. A mature tree, large rock, or large plank/pole is always going to last longer. It’s only unnecessary looking when the plant is a baby. But once a vine begins to get at least a foot long, it should ideally be supported. The sooner you do it, the stronger and larger the plant will be, and faster. A bigger plank creates less work long term for you and the vine. 😊
