I had same front setup in front of my xj.... never had any issues with IRO products... even that caster bolt... 3 yrs of daily driving and wheelin on wknds. stongly suggest this kit to those interested. great vid too
Glad to hear the videos are helping you out because that's why I make them, to help my fellow Jeepers! You're going to love the long arm setup! Let me know how the install goes in the rear because I'm getting ready to do that.
Excellent Review! How is everything holding up? looking at upgrading to long arms on my xj. any problems with the castor adjuster? also curious how the steering is on the road, Ive read some ppl dont like heim joints on the street.
drum911 I haven't had any problems, everything is holding up really well. No issues with the caster adjuster once you get it dialed in for your setup. Steering is solid, not running a steering stabilizer and do over 70 mph on the highway. Most important thing is keep your joints clean and lubed.
Peter I I felt like I did when I first changed them but it could have just been in my head. The biggest reason I got them was so they would not get damaged or stretched when offroading.
Front drive shaft is double cardan u-joint style to replace stock CV. Rear shaft is stock. Extended brake lines were needed in the front, new shocks, adjustable track bars, sway bar disconnects.
my 95 jeep grand Cherokee with a 4in rough country lift has a 249 transfer case and my front drive shaft is to short. you have a 5 1/2in lift how is your front driveshaft fitting when with the 4in it is 5/8 in to short what did you do for this problem
i looked at the Bar Pin Eliminating Shock Relocation Brackets and the ones in the picture are just black without the IRO cutouts like yours, just want to make sure i get ones like yours thanks.
Ryan Muniz That's strange, if I were you I'd call IRO before you order to make sure you get the right ones. I don't remember seeing black ones before when I ordered mine but not sure.
I drove that rig on the road a lot over the many years I owned it. It ended up on 7" long arms front and rear. Drove great, 80+ mph straight as an arrow.
Yep, go to my latest video and check out the description section. You'll have to click "Show More" to see it all. Also, top right corner of my main UA-cam channel page there is a link to Jeep Forum build thread.
***** okay cool because I was thinking about just going ahead and buying the 7 inch lift from iron rock because I don't have any left at all right now... Could you tell me the things that i will have to be replaced to put in that lift? or can I put it in for now without replacing anything ? .. This is the first time I've had a vehicle that I wanted to lift so I don't know much about it .. But I can tell it's going to get very expensive so I'm going to have to cut back on buying guns lol
clownbow1 You should be able to bolt that kit right on for the most part but you should look into a steering kit too. Once the front axle is pushed forward by the long arms you need to correct all the angles. Also you can't push the rear axle back too far with the stock slip yoke drive shaft but it will work. The rear sub frame is the hardest thing to install. Everything else is pretty straight forward.
***** yeah I think I'm going to use the same steering kit as you unless somebody talks me into something else... Do you have a recommendation for a drive shaft? I'm in the middle of watching your video series on the Cherokee I think I'm pretty much going to use a lot of the same parts you are using So it will all fit under there until I can replace the other parts ,is what you're saying right?

+andy Yeah it's a great kit and beefing up the caster setup is easy too
Your videos have been really helpful! I'll be installing my IRO 7inch LA kit on my '97 ZJ shortly, your rig looks AWESOME.

Do you have a video on how to adjust the caster?

Nicely done , thanks for the heads up
Do you get better braking response with your braided hoses?
Peter I I felt like I did when I first changed them but it could have just been in my head. The biggest reason I got them was so they would not get damaged or stretched when offroading.
Did you have to get new drive shafts or lengthen anything for the lift?
Front drive shaft is double cardan u-joint style to replace stock CV. Rear shaft is stock. Extended brake lines were needed in the front, new shocks, adjustable track bars, sway bar disconnects.
How much did that cost to modify? It looks awesome. I want one!
Too much :( Jeep - Just Empty Every Pocket

Shane Thaxton I'm now on adjustable lift between 7 and 8 inches. I bought a longer u joint drive shaft to replace the stock cv drive shaft.
Awesome stuff Ryan, maybe consider a front diff guard? either a brace or ARB cover and dont forget to paint it red haha
Yeah, axle shop is the next stop. 4.88 gears with lockers front and rear, then heavy duty diff covers and possibly u-joint protection.

Ryan Muniz I checked the web site and you're right, the pic is black, but the description says zinc coated. Give them a call.
***** Thanks man i have a 97 like yours and just bought the 5.5 critical long arm kit but it doesn't come with the bar pin brackets
Yeah I bought them separately too. You'll love the kit, tons of flex!
How dose it handle on back roads freeway ect would u daily drive it
I drove that rig on the road a lot over the many years I owned it. It ended up on 7" long arms front and rear. Drove great, 80+ mph straight as an arrow.
Hey man, Hows this setup doing? thinking of ordering it today.
+Tim Ritter Still running IRO long arms front and rear NO PROBLEMS after multiple rubicon trips. Check out projectzj.com
+RYANVISION only thing keeping me from getting it is that damn bracket on the tri arm
+Tim Ritter I bypassed that, used flex joint instead of upper bushing and 1/2 inch bolt
Do you have a build sheet anywhere?

awesome vid ryan!
Ryan O Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I thought you were going with a 7 inch lift on this?
clownbow1 It's on 7 inches now. I bought the front/rear long arm kits separately and used my own springs. Went from 3.5 to 5.5 then 7 inch adjustable.
