There's something about that sound right Dave. The smell the sound. Everything about it just takes you back. I only have one memory of Coleman lanterns as a child. My grandfather and Iowa took me bullhead fishing in the middle of the night. And I remember showing up and there must have been 50 lanterns glowing up and down along the river banks. He lit that coleman and lantern and it was just amazing to me .
Thanks Keith , my new favorite, no lie , I ran it 7 hours straight Monday night 34 degrees, and I never had to pump it but I did twice but just maybe 3 pumps . ROARS
Sam, I'm addicted. I literally have gone through 2 entire fonts of fuel. Just having this thing burn in the background I. Absolutely love how it sounds and smells. Awesome Crappie video buddy. I loved it. I felt like I was there with you
I love channels like this. Reminds me of when UA-cam was still pure and user driven instead of it's current corporate state. Channels like these are for the people by the people. I'm w history buff, so this is right up ny alley. I recently found a guy that's really into old lighters. Now I've found you as well. I bet you've got some models that Coleman doesn't even have in their archives.
Well, I really appreciate you. Can I get your name? Also, please stick around. I really do need help understanding. What a lot of this stuff? I pick up actually is or what its purpose maybe. I do have a decent eye, I can spot quality items and I also understand things that I can reuse. I also sell some of these items. Hand-to-hand and at my booth in order to keep funded and moving ahead .
Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it. It's a lot of work sometimes and sometimes you just wonder. All I want to do is help a few people out and try to make some memories and maybe get out and do something entertaining, or help others may not get out much.
Haha! That's about as good as I EVER lit one without preheating. Well done, Sir! If memory serves the mantles we were getting through supply were "Sun Flame" brand? A good old throrium rich Coleman mantle were what I kept in the storage tube. Since the half-life of thorium is 14 BILLION years, it's worth finding the old ones. Like the Blend Tech guy says, "Don't breathe this stuff!" Steve, you should get one of those TS-8000 torches with the adjustable flame knob on the back. Supposedly 8k btu on high but you can get them down to a less than a candle flame and lock it on. I have a 4000 and 8000 and rarely use the 4000. Highly recommended.
Thanks, Mike. I will look into that Torch model and get one right away. I agree, I I need to gently apply heat without blowing a hole, with my big torch. I did look up a couple forums. And without the thorium mantles, the 21 a is one that is highly recommended. It did make a huge difference than the Walmart Coleman mantle that I put on there for testing.
@@doinsngoins Sure, use what's cheap and available for testing. As long they're bright and not over burning through the mantle, go with what works. I was getting some really good ones a few years ago made in the Philippines. The brand escapes me, but they were bright and durable. Then they changed the recipe and quality went south. Not sure if they ever got better or not. Ah, Peerless was the brand. Haha!
Awesome. Yeah, the ones I have come across. Have just been near misses. Thid one as well. I walked almost right by it. I do have 2 others and they're very, very finicky but I think I have figured out how to operate them. They need a little extra attention and patience.
Thank you for sharing Joe. That's awesome. Yeah, this one I just happened to look up and it was hanging from a patio at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago.
Heartbreak today... worked on my friends 1944 Milspec got it all cleaned and ready to go put in fuel.. pumped it up and it has a pinhole in the tank... :-((
@@doinsngoins well it was a friends dads lantern. So I’m not sure if he would want that. Probably just keep it as a keepsake. Really is a nice lantern but he won’t part with it

I would dremel the area the size of a dime , put the dime on the sander and thin it by half , solder or braze it over the hole .
