I love trying to recognize the locations these scenes were shot in. I see lankershim and burbank in that car wash scene. That Dennys is still there in 2020!
You have to admit that KITT shines in this scene. He moniters police communication to tell Michael that a guy he knows has been killed. Then GPS's a route to intercept a criminal. Even displaying a map. And he's able to keep eyes on a criminal until the paint change.
I love how the dude is driving around with limo tint, and thinks to himself "No, this isn't dark enough" and slides down his visor, which is also limo tint status. Dude's driving blind as a bat.
I was reading the comments about the custom car charging grills when coming out of the car wash and I had to watch this again and yeah the grill is different out of the car wash.
The guy in the car on the train tracks... Ah... Drive forward? It's a really useful function that cars have. Plus, there's no fence on the other side of the train track, so there's literally nothing stopping the man from just going forward. But I guess he didn't got the plot armor option when he bought the car.
We had a lot of technology that was similar to today's. Only thing is that the rich could afford those things. Today I can buy a calculator at the dollar store for about $1.50, back then a pocket calculator cost about $100.00.
You could get calculators for cheap in the 80s, it wasn't the stone age. People had them in their watches, that was a thing then. GPS existed, but was pretty much only used by the military until 1990-ish. This is one of the few technologies in the show that would have actually been possible with the technology of the era, although a comprehensive street database didn't really exist, but could have.
The footage is shown in the cabin of the car, when drops of paint flow down from the windshield, one drop from the windshield fell on the dashboard torpedo 😂😂😂
At 20 mins and 20 seconds into this episode, the molecular-bonded shell on KITT appears to be compromised, as the t-tops leak about a quart of rainwater into Michael's lap. I still want to ask the 2nd unit guys about the leaky t-tops, failing pop-up lights, falling headliners, etc. they must have had to deal with on those 82-84 birds used in the show.
The cars used in the show were damaged in a train derailment while in transit to their destination. The studio bought them for scrap price on the condition they be destroyed when the series ended.
@@robertclark6349 Those model year TA's leaked from the T-tops like a sieve on a lot of cars right off the lot. It would always rain on the center console and seats whenever my cousin took a hard turn in his 82', he had to re-do the seals like 5 times on them.

@@notthesameman It looks to have been raining recently, it was really common as you know for t-tops to leak in those 84 birds (by season 3 they were using mostly '84's is my understanding)
80's plotlines just don't make sense to me. The guy pulled up right up to the railroad crossing gate, ignoring the stop sign at the intersection and blocking the street. And there isn't a gate blocking him on the other end which means once the car behind him pushes the car forcing him to break the gate, he could just drive forward and be on his way.
Maybe the guy panicked thinking the train was closer and could not make it across. It's more believable than a guy being bitten by a spider and getting super powers since most of us would end up at the hospital.
Driving across railroad tracks isn't like driving on asphalt or cement. The car may not have been able to go over the track, especially going from stopped. If he was moving it would have been easier.
@@vicrattlehead6386 You know, there's a more plausible reason why 80's TV shows get continuity so wrong so often. It's because they were broadcast on TV with 480 interlaced lines. In most viewings, you would not be able to see a stop sign. You won't be able to see that the tracks are paved over with cement which means the car can easily drive over to the other side. I still have an old fashioned 20" TV. It's amazing how blurry everything is on it when I watch my old VHS tapes. And most of my VHS tapes are even LP tapes, which means they're barely 200 interlaced lines.

Mister G lol
It has gasoline. Force of impact ruptured the gas tank and gasoline came in contact with the muffler or catalytic converter.

So that's just a Plymouth Fury with a Dodge grille?
Well it did become a coronet
KITT is one of the most gorgeous looking cars ever.

All that technology in K.I.T.T., and a simple paint job counters it.
