- When Patrick Tutwiler was serving in Iraq, he was shot in the neck. Almost a year later, a tornado hit his hometown.
He saved his family's lives by using his body as a shield against the winds. The home was however destroyed, and they could not afford to repair it. Ty and the team surprise this brave family with a safe home.

I really believe they had all that luck for letting the nephew stay and live with them even though they were suffering themselves they are such a lovely family they couldn't say no to him they will continue to have luck for giving this handsome looking boy a better chance in life
I said that to my husband.....they didn't have to take him on......but they did.....and I belive the Lord has blessed them 🙏 🙌
It's what family's do. Although I personally can't take care of my neices full time if something happened, my family would and I would be there 100% when I could for what ever they needed

It breaks my heart to see this family, without hope. ...And then you came, bringing love, hope, happiness and unity in this community. Unity is what makes your country great, and that is what you bring to the table! Unity is the strongest bond people and a Nation can have. That is why the Elites want to break down unity in every country, so that they can take over countries with great resources and plunder them.
It bursts me to tears for this family, thank you extreme make over to make this happen for them. Strong family bonding.

I wish every community is like this loving and kind community that support everyone whose properties have been destroyed by tornado. This how our world should be.
Unfortunately not so supportive as you might think. It seems they were bullied out of town by backbiting and snipping at them out of jealousy. Shame. This chap fights for them and then gets treated like that. So many levels of wrong.
After reading the comments from kim in Cambodia I looked up the family on Google and yes they felt they had to move because of jealousy and sniping from other residents. What a shame, a purple heart receiver injured in the line of duty deserved better. . Hope they are doing okay wherever they moved to, best wishes from Great Britain
I was wondering about this aspect during the video. That's really sad, especially given that the whole community benefited from this family being chosen.

A real American hero - Patrick is an incredible person; a great Dad, a fantastic husband, a wonderful neighbor to everyone, and a very humble person. He would have a lot to brag about but he isn't a bragging type, he isn't about drawing attention to himself. As a couple they certainly deserved this help with getting back into a safe and secure home, one that was built to fit their growing family. And then for the Extreme Makeover team to keep finding more and more and more that needs to be redone in the town, and going ahead and doing it, was exceptional. This is probably the best Extreme Makeover I've seen! There really ARE good people in this world!
My Grandma had paralyzed vocal cords, and sounded like Miss Edna. To hear the way she speaks, has really just brought me back to the amazing memories with the most wonderful person that I have ever known. Hard to see through the tears. I don't know what year this is from, I haven't seen it before, so it's lovely to see - what a difference that can be made!
The car they were given was 2009. So somewhere around that year.

I was in tears for this family and to find out after absolutely everything they have been through that their own community BULLIED this family out of their home after all the trauma it’s disgusting they deserve so much better 😢
Giving this community a very safe place home to to go to was a wonderful idea as it gives them and their families a secure place in times of natural disasters. Bravo 👏 👏 👏
Another good episode. I helped with the build in Hawai'i. Hard not to cry watching this one. They saved Zues's life and he was there to save theirs too when he held the door closed during the storm. Sorry to hear in updates that they felt they had to move away from the town a year or two later because of strife between the Tutwiler's and other community members. Too bad people gotta get so petty. I hope the members of this family are all doing well now. Best wishes from Cambodia.
Sadly am not surprised… but hopefully they were able to sell the house for more than the bought it for! Small community’s are lovely on paper….

Some people out there are just lucky to be helped with love and care by Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I have not known any of this kind of Team here in the Philippines. I wish there would be that kind of Team by some of our countrymen here to help us including myself.

This was a huge tear jerker of a show a huge congratulations to everyone involved in giving this amazing incredible beautiful wonderful family back there home.
Also to help others in the community congratulations on supporting them as well but most importantly giving them that new amazing safe home hopefully they won’t need it but just in case wonderful work done by everyone
Unfortunately, I just Googled and found out that they had to sell the home and move because a number of people in that "small community" were not happy with what the family got. They made the family's lives horrible. My heart breaks for Zeus.

This was over 10 years ago I think because EM:HE with Ty as team leader originally ended in 2011/2012 and then the reboot happened but with a different team leader.

wow I just watched this. Not once but about ten times. I cried so much, but happy tears. The family's love, the good bye letter well I was balling by then. I'm an ex army brat. That dread we all love with every day...even when their on exercise. When your posted overseas you all go to the same school...during those troubles I would see at least to of my school mates a day get pulled out due to serious injuries or death.

What a beautiful story and seeing that well deserving family over the moon about their new home was very touching blessings to them all . The community safe house was a great idea but how would all those people fit into the shelter ? It is a bit on the small size to fit all those people but the good intentions were there .❤

Don't get me wrong, everything is better than nothing and what they did was just AMAZING! Outstanding! A big help for a new beginning for all the familys they helped. Helping a hand full of families rebuild and also creating a small house in their comminity area to get together and also be safe... I just can't wrap my head around why it is so small :D
I was thinking the exact same thing... I feel like they can fit max like 20 people in there if they pack in like sardines... didn't they say there were about 1400 people in that town?

I have watched a lot of these.sad often tragic tales effected whole families, my favourite one was the man with all the kids who was nominated by a lady whose life was saved by him my goodness did I cry brilliant, you can't better that but you really blew my mind with this what a bad deal he had a purple heart meant something amazing why did his country owes him so much,

In my country which is a developing country, 95% of houses are made of concrete, metal and wood. At least the place where I live and my hometown as well
