    Just done a fence today old post concrete in every hole I needed a post, 3 roots the size of an elephant’s trunk running parallel through my holes, I’ve worked my legs off today grafted and no one will ever know or appreciate the pain of my work day today and I’ll die a poor man in 45 years. What an existence this is.

    I'm watching this as a 33 year old single lady who needs a new fence due to problematic neighbours. Was quoted £1500+ to have it done for me so I'm trying to see if I can save money by buying all the materials myself and trying to install it myself! I doubt I can but you've given me the confidence to try!

    • @BrownEyedGirl14
      @BrownEyedGirl14 2 роки тому +2

      @@tigerberrie5147 I can't speak for your own, but mine was a bit harder than it looked. I had really unlevel ground with holes and stuff in it so the hardest part was getting it all flat and level. I ended up going with panel fencing so it was much less work but did require another person to help. However I'm 5ft 1, 100lbs and 33 so I could just be weak! Also didn't go this route with the posts either, I found some post holders on Amazon that just need to be hammered into the ground instead of digging and using concrete, so it's ended up being a fence which can be easily removed if needed! It was worth it though and ended up only costing £160 in total instead! And now I don't have to deal with those neighbours either :)

    Awesome video lads cheers, just checking it out to see if I've missed any tips or tricks.
    The only thing I will add is if anyone plans on doing a decent amount of fencing it is worth getting a Petrol Earth Auger for about ~£200, makes digging holes so easy and will save your back if the mud is tough.
    I personally got the BU-KO 52CC 2Stroke Petrol Earth Auger 3HP V-Type, comes with 3 drill bits and an extension, I'm doing 3ft holes perfectly fine with it. Sometimes have to use the thin drill bit first if the mud is like concrete but can follow-up with the bigger one after.

    Top tip get a wood 4x4 the same height as you're concrete and drop it in the hole to check your height easier than heavy concrete in & out.
    Start at the top of a slope, then you don't have to worry about the next bay height. Dry mix & tamp it, works out cheaper than post mix

    • @JubbaheyChannel
      @JubbaheyChannel 3 роки тому

      Not for concrete posts but if you were laying in wooden ones then 3inch of gravel topped by a 3inch layer of dry concrete mix before putting post in would help against rot setting in from underneath. You'd still get rot at the top of the concrete mix sadly but there are products that can stop that too, Postsaver Pro-Sleeves are one of many.

    A question if I may; I see you place 2 gravel boards one on top of the other before installing the next post.......is there a maximum fence height you can use this method ?
    I am look at using 6 gravel boards ( 6 foot high fence) and don't really fancy lifting each board over the top of the post and then lowering into position.
    Any help/comments gratefully received.
