Yeah, I’ve been hearing in the news here in the United States about the problems with Canada Post, too. Hopefully you’ll get the rest of your parts soon! As for what you’ve done so far: It looks like you got things under control! It’s starting to look a little bjt like my Firefly FFTL, if you remember seeing it in my videos! 😂 What you’ve done to that neck makes it look a little like a relic! Regarding the idea of a forearm cut: I have had Telecaster-type guitars with and without comfort cuts, and I find I greatly prefer them WITH comfort cuts, which is another reason I love my Firefly FFTL. I absolutely LOVE the idea of making a forearm and belly cut on that guitar, but just be aware: you’ll probably end up sanding through the flamed maple veneer on that body, exposing the grain of the wood underneath that veneer. It might not be totally bad looking, but it probably won’t be seamless.
If you're willing and have the tools, I'd love to see you try the body contour! That would be an interesting journey! Gotta love trying something new 😊 Cheers, J-Man!
What a journey. Get that sander out! We want to see you do that. Having never done it I can't offer any thoughts about doing it. But I know with your shoulder the forearm relief would serve you well. Oh, and you should paint that ugly guitar Orange (smile). Rock on!
@@j-man9457 You won't believe this but my first "customer" (non-paying friends and family 100% discount, ha!) wants me to repair and refinishing a guitar. No joke. Its a surprise so I can't post until after the fact and the guitar is given to the person's family member. Crazy.
Nice idea with the carbon fiber sheet under the Tease pickguard! Wait on the forearm cut, you can always do that later. Once you have all your black hardware, that blue burst finish might look a lot better. What about pickups?
@j-man9457 I missed about the pickups. Sorry 'bout that but I promise I'm paying attention. This is an interesting project, it'll be fun to hear you play it out at a gig.
@markpell8979 haha thanks, I'm filling in for a band on the 21st and was hoping to have it ready for then, however parts are delayed. Finger's crossed haha!
My parts have been delayed, too. Canada Post delivers 18% of parcels in Canada. Without them the courriers are overloaded. So go for it! Have some fun with it. Remember those "OUCH" patches for cars? 😅 Decent levelling of frets. They must have a pretty surefire way of pressing the frets into the slots.
I’d do the arm carve and stain it blue to match the back. It would be interesting to see if the black Musiclily pro bridge w/ 5 mounting screws & 6 saddles would have been an exact match for the factory bridge.
If you do the contour apply tru oil to seal it and the grain will pop. I would remove all that yellow off the neck and stain it blue or black then seal with tru oil.
I've had to open the bridge cavity also when I used Wilkinson and some other replacement plates. same thing, fill the outside holes and redrill when the glue is fully dried. The carve can be done like this also by Brad. ua-cam.com/video/cIxzBd0YmYA/v-deo.html
@@j-man9457 I want to see the contoured body bar and not going to lie, even being a budget guitar, I'm scrumming trying to think of doing that myself. I would mess it up. I am about to try and change out frets for the first time, never removed them feel like ill mess it up.
@Ro-Bucks cool man... Just heat them up by passing a soldering Iron over them first, and a good pair of pullers and you should be good... Your going to have to re-sand and probably re-seal the fret board regardless anyway...😃
Belly cuts and forearm reliefs should be required by law. I have a PRS SE CE Standard I am either going to sell or put a smooth forearm relief with a rounded edge on it. Will have to paint it if I cut on the guitar. Definitely put the forearm relief on yours. It will make that slab of wood a little lighter too.

Hi J man, enjoy your channel,, if bevel on the front heightens your playing experience...go for it, I'm the kind of guy that would cut the bevel and then use flame maple veneer to match up to the existing top, I did something similar to that on a bass and it turned out beautiful
I don't know if you ordered everything on one order or not. But if you did and one item is delayed, it holds up the whole order. Order all of them separately and let Amazon combine it. I learned this the hard way.
I'd do the contour. Whatever you do, do not use nitrocellous laquer to paint it. I ried to refinish a guitar with the stuff and it's an absolute nightmare to work with. |I ened up removing it and used Duplicolour instead. iit dries much quicker and polishes up nice. A lot cheaper as well. Ya the postal strile sucks for sure! The Fender mini you sent my way is still in limbo!
@@curtisc9350 hey Curtis, I never saw a comment from you until now, so I'm not sure... I have heard of others having that issue as well. Must be some YT AI thing. Try reposting... 🤔
I'd get a can of dark matt grey and refinish the whole body after contouring it. That way the guitar would look much nicer with that carbon-fiber pick-guard, black hardware and the yellow neck. That blue burst finish is just ugly as heck..
👎on the body contour. You went to all the trouble of cutting out the carbon fiber and buying all of the black parts to make it look better. I think the body contour would look terrible.
If you are thinking of sanding for a contour - may sanding the entire front of the body and going with either a different color or "au-natural".. A bit of work but at least you would get rid of the blemishes on the finish on the front. 🩹
