Three new criminal laws, replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Indian Evidence Act from the British era, and the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), will come into force from today, i.e., July 1, 2024.
The three new criminal laws are- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
The Bharatiya Sakshya Sanhita, 2023, The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill, 2023, and The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 were passed by Parliament on December 21 last year.

IPC survived for 164 years and served the country well and more than 90% provisions will continue to survive. Nobody can doubt the competence of Macauley. However new laws are a definite improvement and hopefully expedite justice and judgements.

Many believe that these sets of new laws are highly AUTHORITARIAN and HIGH=HANDED. While this may be partially true, India cannot move forward with ARCHIAC, OUTDaTED and MORIBUND laws in the 21st Century.
I robustky believe that the BENEFITS brought about by these new laws FAR OUTWEIGH their drawbacks, and wrong -doers and criminals cannot be set off SCOT=FREE due to technical glitches in the legal system.
SEDITION is now been equated with TREASON, so speakers would think several times before making INCITING and INFLAMMATORY speeches, all in the name of just FREEDOM OF speech, and get away with it with APPARENT blatancy and immunity

Amendments can easily be revoked or reamendwd, but the LAWS cannot be scrapped per se

After watching and listening for 6 min, reading many comments and wondering who are they actually? Rajdeep has already mentioned who is P Chidambaram if any kid doesn't know who PC is, still I can find many comments who has missed that. These viewers may have multiple technical gadgets in hands but deserve very less respect. They can never write few sentences to justify their own comment or what they think of BNS if they are so knowledgeable, but they put abusive languages on PC, India Today. People often reacts so quickly even when he has no knowledge or patience to listen if someone is explaining.
PC has explained so well within 10:56, any educated viewer should appreciate.

The argument that colonial era criminal law is replaced by modern law is unjustified. The nature of crime committed by human being is the same, only the method of committing crime differ from one person to another. Murder, theft, dacoit, cheating, lie, killing, adultery, kidnapping, Extortion, threat, robbery, forgery etc are the principal crimes all over human world. In dealing with these crimes how one can differentiate between Coloial law and Indian Law? Only gravity of punishment can very or dropped, and this can be done by simple Amendment.
Change of Sections to Companies Act 2013 was done by INC, you are guilty of the same offence.

It is rather unfortunate we call the three Acts as colonial.We cannot change our past. The changes which give more powers to State shall operate against the poor rather than rich. Bulldozer justice is an example how we treat people by using demolition squad. It is worrisome we are more drastic than colonial masters were. The British were foreign power ready to exploit people of India but did not employ draconian laws except against those who fought the empire by violent means. It is surprising that we are making drastic laws against our own people.
