Cormier says Adesanya did everything right, from his electric walkout all the way to the very end. Cormier also breaks down the co-main event, where New Zealand's Dan Hooker was able to come away with a huge win against Al Iaquinta. Lol. Izzy doesn't hate Jones. However, I believe Izzy is the only man who is going to beat Jones. Izzy has a kind of... mystique? He gets in the ring and no one fighting him takes him seriously. But both times he knocked down Whitaker, they were not his strongest punches, especially the one at the end of the first round that he just flicked up at the last second.

@@ainitiate9582 No he definitely doesn't, usually he goes in and out and has good foot work. Doesn't head hunt even when he had Brunson rocked didn't go for the finish right away. When yoel tagged him he circled out as well. This fight he was just head hunting didn't make adjustments after Rd 1 even after he kept getting countered.
DC broke it down perfectly Rob tried to do what worked for Gastelum but that was the wrong approach

Yeah he looked like he didn't respect Israel's power. He was way too reckless. Look at Whittaker's run through MW he always fought with composure. I think his team's plan to get inside right away was a mistake. He was too aggressive. He should have thrown strikes to set up the clinch and takedowns.

Rob was actually able to blitz in and get in his face, he should have just kept his guard up after he attacked. This fight was billed as Power(Rob) vs Speed(Izzy) but in this fight Rob was pretty fast and Izzy was pretty strong

I see everyone saying Rob didn’t seem composed. The man himself said he’d felt better than ever in his entire career. He also knew that fighting a slow fight against a guy with a 6+ inch reach was not the move. Rob knew he wasn’t gonna have it easy tonight and had to try and kill Adesanya or die trying. Much respect to Rob for saying he was beaten and not bullshit on top.
As an Aussie and a massive Whittaker fan i was obviously disappointed with the result but you cant deny Adesanyas performance he was clearly the better fighter and a well deserving champion.

Adesanya vs Jones would be very interesting in the future, especially considering Jones' recent tendency to not use his wrestling (where Jones' size would play a big factor)
I think Izzy is the one guy who can actually definitively beat Jones. Izzy's presence in the octagon is deceptive. You don't see his power till you're hit. He knocked down Brunson twice with a wrist flick of a punch. He knocked down Whitaker end of first round with a flicking uppercut. The knockdown in round two was harder but still not a normal, leaning forward left hook. Izzy was leaning back and off-balance when he knocked out Whitaker.
At 195lb catchweight. Jones has enough advantages with the pictograms.
@@BreezeeGreenz His accuracy is pretty amazing. It would be very interesting against a fighter with similar stature. Regardless, that's a super fight I would love to watch.
@@FigureFlix He has a ton of holes in his game to be honest. He's weak in BJJ and practically bankrupt at wrestling. His defense is pretty awful (he rarely ever covers up with his hands but leaves them hanging down) but for the fact he has good head movement, but he should not rely on head movement as much as he does. His boxing is pretty disheartening when you note that he rarely ever uses even basic boxing (like the left hooks he did use in this fight as counter punches, the totally absent jabs that would serve a long guy like him awfully well, and the right cross that he seems to forget at home). His ground and pound could use a good amount of steroids (he doesn't know how to pin a guy to pound him). And his legs, for being so long, are surprisingly often found in the unemployment line.
Israel is currently winning on 1.) *his lion heart (no doubt),* 2.) his great _fighting instinct,_ and 3.) his _ability to adapt to situations quickly_ (besides for his acquired skills of course). I f Israel polished up on the skills I mentioned above, I mean, people would be in need of intervention if they had to fight him. If, with so many holes in his game, Izzy is still dragging people across the mat every single fight, then what kind of wrecking ball monster would he be if he 'closed those holes' so to speak?

Tbh it was that clean shot at the end of round round 1 that was the beginning of the end. I thought for sure that he would grapple with izzy and/ or shoot for a takedown to get re compose and settle down for the following rounds. I guess thats mma and why its so awsome to watch
