+MalcolmRandall while a good idea it might detract from the whole, "you can still make friends through pokemon even with the language barrier" concept.
I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since I first saw this trailer and fell in love with Pokémon. It’s especially sad as the 3ds and the 2ds aren’t used anymore for the release of new Pokémon games.
So a boy from Japan befriends a boy from Hawaii, with the Japanese boy selecting the starter stronger against the Hawaiian boy’s starter. So the main character and Hau basically. Edit: the Hawaiian kid even has an orange backpack and the Japanese kid has a blue and white striped shirt. This was intentional.
Still having my eyes watery just by seeing the scene of the reacton of his mother, by seeing her son making friends and having fun... Nintendo you are awesome, you are my childhood
Genetically speaking, Hawaiians have more in common with Japan than they do with non-native Americans (which themselves are predominantly European in ancestry)
That was one of the, if not the, best hype season. Every week, a new trailer was released. It left us with content to discuss about every week, basically. The best for sure, along with the Gen3 hype. Checking Serebii every day to see if he updated new news about Pokémon Advance was sheer beauty.
i like how the kid was a transfer student from japan in Hawaii and the region in Sun and Moon is based on Hawaii. also trust me pokemon can help make friendships. from kids to adults it still works.
Actually, I think this commercial implies that the game will feature a very diverse setting, so there will be lots of people, on vacation, from other regions. That'd be pretty awesome
Literally at the end I cried because at the ending music I thought about 1st grade and beyond trading Pokemon Pokemon cards battling losing friends and gaining friends through battle bro this is heartwarming my eyes used surf bro
+Luc van Driel Actually when it comes to games kids tend to be at ease, its like how alcohol is an icebreaker for adults, games do that but for teens and preteens
Just like the XY theme was friendship (mega evolution, pss, a large group of "rivals" which were really just friends), I feel like this game's theme will be bringing people together. This also goes along with the Hawaiian culture of ohana which means treating everyone like they were family Also there's probably going to be two professors, sort of like a mentor relationship. Kukui, the guy that called you cousin, and Hala, the person I assume threw the pokeballs (and Watson's long lost cousin), are both present when you receive your starter and are both named after Hawaiian trees Lastly, both the kid and the trainer and the Alola region and that town share quite a resemblance appearance wise. The kids wear similar clothing (horizontal striped shirts and shorts) and the towns both have that crater in the middle. What's interesting is that they modified the real town to include the volcano AND the little village in the middle, making me believe that there will be another Sootopolis-like city
Me too... It's not the first IGN has made a mistake in their titles. On the Sonic Lost World review, they called Sonic Lost World "Sonic Lost Worlds" if I'm not mistaken. And it's still there, after 2 years
Almost 7 years have passed since this trailer came out and it still pulls heartstrings.
if only friendship was like that in high school.....
Just wait until college.
When I got into college literally everyone who studied with me was all over Pokémon 😂😂

So, no one is going to talk about how the house and everything is so similar to the game?
I can't stop re-watching these, they're so good.
Man, I wish Sword and Shield did trailers like this. These were adorable. Guess they kinda went all out for SM tho since it was the 20th anniversary
Perhaps a Japanese Kid going to England
That and sword and shield is just objectively worse.
NO
So no one is going to say how the house and everything is so similar to the game?!?!
This is one of the better commercials that I’ve seen in my days.
Inspirational music sets the scene:
*"PPOKEMON?"*
*"nah yugioh"*
Its time to d-d-dUEL!

I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since I first saw this trailer and fell in love with Pokémon. It’s especially sad as the 3ds and the 2ds aren’t used anymore for the release of new Pokémon games.
This just proves that pokemon can connect anyone together :)
This brightened my day up tremendously.

Who's back after 4 years. If you are respect to you
Wow I've never seen someone look that shocked and amazed to pick their starter pokemon
I could understand it if that was the first Pokémon he'd ever had...But he was clearly playing Pokémon blue earlier.
There’s no way that sun and moon happened 5 years ago

I watch this vids every time a new pokemon game comes out
Just like the XY theme was friendship (mega evolution, pss, a large group of "rivals" which were really just friends), I feel like this game's theme will be bringing people together. This also goes along with the Hawaiian culture of ohana which means treating everyone like they were family

30 second ad for someone else's video, typical IGN
I was hoping for more commercials like these for the ultra versions. Maybe even a sequel to these shorts.
Kid running to random people without telling his mom
Me: hey there are you lost
this commercial was ridiculously good
I can't wait for the version to show the true essence of humanity.
I also want more info on Pokemon Go.
Its nice to see old games i used to play again
the only good video I've seen on IGN in awhile and it's not theirs lol
Brings me back to a Simpler time in life great job Pokémon
Lmaooo I could drown Hawaii rn I'm on the subway and everyone's staring lmaooo why u gotta make a man cry
OMG this trailer is so happy

You don't have any friends??
my eyes weren't welting up they just got a little swollen because this vid was so darn heartwarming, that's all.
The extra space between the words "Sun" and "and" really bother me
what space are you talking about? ;)
Me too... It's not the first IGN has made a mistake in their titles. On the Sonic Lost World review, they called Sonic Lost World "Sonic Lost Worlds" if I'm not mistaken. And it's still there, after 2 years
How to get a friend
-run at a random stranger
-"p0kEm0n ??"
"Go to website" - Pokemon 2016
Me *runs up to classmate with a pokemon game in hand* Classmate: Tf do you want new kid?
if only the 3ds could do 720p
I like Pokemon became my lifelong childhood and forged friendships over years
Question: Did I just watch a video from the future? Question: Did they beat the game so quickly so they could play together? It was like 5 seconds.
I like how they are jumping and pressing button, and they are just choosing the main pokemon
This make me jelous but also really relaxed and i feel happy for that pokémon group
The moral of this advert is the only way to have friends is by playing pokemon
