  • This video is one of four videos about the sacroiliac joints (S-I). This video focuses on the forward and backward movement of the sacroiliac joints. The S-I joints are non-voluntary, crescent shaped joints between the sacrum and each ilium bone. Movement through the S-I joints is created by muscle contraction moving other voluntary joints. Many people experience a great deal of pain, stiffness, and discomfort in this general area including the low back, pelvis, and groin. I suggest you watch the first video in this series to orient yourself to some anatomical information and location of the S-I joints.

    This is wonderful! I have never thought about hiking up the opposite hip when walking-maybe that’s why I always seem to veer right when I walk!

      In walking, the leg that takes the weight is the side where the hip hikes up. Just want to make sure this is clear. thank you.

    I'm so glad to have found this channel. You are very inspiring, thank you for sharing your knowledge of somatic in these very informative videos. I have just started somatic classes here in the UK and these videos are really fantastic motivation.

      I'm so glad you are enjoying them. Who are you taking somatic classes from?

    Susan These SI joint movements are incredible. Have readThomas Hanna's book from cover to cover and done the exercises, but the power of video to understand the subtlety of pandiculation is great. Such new freedom. Have repeated these twice now, how often would you recommend these three series on SI joints in rehab for walking? Would you recommend any others of your videos? Thank you again, Ronald

      Thank you for you inquiry. I’m glad these somatic movements have been helpful for you. We recommend that you do the movements twice a day if possible, however it's better to do it one time then not at all. I suggest you scan my other youtubes and do any of them that you think might relate to your body issues. My youtubes now include the entire Daily Somatic Cat Routine. I highly recommend you learn and practice the Daily Cat Routine.

    Susan, I so love your classes, thank you! When you say "forward" do you mean towards the ceiling or towards my feet?

    • @somaticsforyou

      Thank you for your feedback. Forward means "in front of you." So if you're lying on your back, forward means toward the ceiling. I hope this is clear.

    Aside from getting comfort because it feels good. Can these si joint movements help with a twisted sacrum?

    • @somaticsforyou
      @somaticsforyou  3 роки тому +3

      You've asked a good question. I would say yes, but I know everyone is different. If you continue to feel better your twist is probably working itself out. Thank you.
