I do believe Evan Almighty is the sequel of Bruce Almighty, since Evan is in Bruce Almighty, during the newscaster scene, Played by the same actor with the same stage name. Evan, or better known as Steve Carrel, is in both movies.
It's not a sequel in the conventional sense. It's more of a standalone sequel/spin-off. Steve Carell was a rising star in those days, thanks to The Office and people really liked his part in Bruce Almighty, deeming his scenes as one of the funniest things in Bruce Almighty. Everything just worked out for them. People really liked Morgan Freeman's portrayal of God and Steve Carell's portrayal of Evan in Bruce Almighty and Carell was quickly becoming famous, so everyone involved saw the potential to squeeze a few more bucks out of the deal and so this got made. As a movie, it's alright. Not nearly as good as the first one, but definitely not terrible. A lot of it gets saved by Morgan Freeman playing a very charismatic version of God.
This is actually pretty amazing to me because I feel like a very similar thing has happened to me in my reality and now I seek World Peace. Its Asif I have been summoned to put the word out. BANK OWNERS should end all poverty. We all have a duty to put the word out so that man can create happiness in the world instead of taxing everything and there being inequality. ALL debt should also be squashed to sattisfy GOD. Many changes should be made keeping GODs requirement planned from what the people really want. What is funny about that is Jim Carrey has a tendency to not do sequels by choice. I don't know why but he likes to do stand alone films and leave sequels to somebody else which is why Son of the Mask has Jamie Kennedy instead of Jim. Sequels just are not his thing.
