      The lowest quality oils on the market are Stihl oils. The only oild JASO FB... All other oils on the market are at least FC and FD. Avoid Stihl and you are golden!

    this model can also work as a (not sure the terminology) suction, meaning i can blow the leaves and also suck the leaf inside and routed it to a bag attached to it. For that to become a suction blower something inside needs to be done like reversed or something, can you show us how that is done?

    You forgot to mention a great feature of the 86...the anti-vibration springs. This is a great unit. Easy to maintain. Have had mine for 5 years so far. Just replaced the impeller as i use the vacuum a lot, and stone bark, as well as lava rock, do damage to the impeller.

    I have a SH 86 C . This winter I was using it to blow light dry snow off my side walks. It lost power so I added more motomix. Still did not seem like full rpm's. Plug, tank filter, and exhaust looked good(cleaned screen anyway). As far as I could tell top of piston looked good and compression was good. I have since bought a new plug and tank filter but have not messed with it since. Any suggestions? I also have 2 Stihl backpack blowers and 1 combi system blower.

    • @bounjamin

      Have you checked the carburetor? If you have good compression, no blockages, and good spark I would look to the carburetor. If you haven't cleaned it for a while it could have a clog. Could also be a bad carburetor. Good idea to pressure test it and, if it's good, clean and rebuild it with a carb kit.

    I love Stihl machines but I have the HS86C, I exclusively use it as a vac, for which it is great. however, as a blower it not a patch on my Husky 525 BX or Makita MM4! With regards to the fuel, with the amount I use, shelf life is not an issue so non ethanol is just way too expensive. Just make sure you buy high grade 2 stroke and it will basically do the same thing but much much cheaper!

  • @49ProRatStreet

    Great presentation.
    I just bought a used machine and went thru everything short of opening the case. It runs great and idles perfect.
    Here is my question. I know the cruise, normal operation spot and the shutoff position. I seem to find a lever position between the cruise and the normal position that enables the machine to idle but when I tilt the machine downward it idles up to about 1/3 throttle. I did this a few times and it does this every time.
    Is this a factory feature or an abnormality on mine?
    Thanks

    • @Carlsmower
      @Carlsmower  4 роки тому

      Sounds like machine could be “leaning out”. Several causes, one simple one is the fuel filter is not staying submerged, or there’s a crack in a fuel line.
      A couple areas to check.

    That premixed fuel is insanely expensive, and you’re a little misleading when you talk about how much longer the shelf life is than “regular gas”. Anyone can go buy ethanol free fuel and mix the oil in and have the same shelf life for about 1/8th the cost.

I meant to cut it down about 10 yrs ago but I must have still drank beer back then or had bigger fish to fry. The premixed fuel is a ripoff.I use premium gas and Stihl oil my machinery lasts eons. I can’t afford in a yard work business,to use gas like that so proper maintenance is the key.it’s not a magic bullet.there are none.periodic tuning and maintenance is the key.

    • @Carlsmower

      It is expensive. But cheap insurance for low use applications or off season hibernation

    • @randyt3558
      @randyt3558 7 місяців тому

      it's not a rip off. Its convenient for people who don't use their blower everyday, and aren't interested in mixing fuel and oil. 2 litres would cover most homeowners blower usage for a season.

    Buy a Echo. I've never seen a anything made by Stihl that runs as good as a Echo. I have one of these but it takes 5 pulls to start and you have to pump the bubble at least 3-5 times or it will not start. My echo, prime it once and fires first or second pull.

    • @bounjamin
      @bounjamin 2 роки тому

      I have the same thing on my muffler and I just got it in April of 2022. Part of it must be because I use it to blow light snow, etc. I have been finding that if you apply vegetable oil to a cooled but warm muffler it helps to keep the metal better. Like seasoning a pan.
