Wow... Thomas Davis is an amazing powerlifter. > 700lb bench press in a full powerlifting meet, *and* 859lb *raw* deadlift?! Such a well-done video too!
The problem with TD in the bench is that his technique is much like a throwing movement, lots of momentum off the chest but it disappears at lockout. He seems to lack controlled driving strength so isn’t the best at grinding reps. Either the bar is moving really fast or not at all
I mean, oberst best classification was 8th in WSM, while eddie won it once and was on de podium twice, and his worst classification on the finals was 6th.
TD is a great friend of mine, and he is so strong. All I remember is how he would go somewhere, and he would win, and then come back home like it was no big deal. TD would move weight most people couldn’t imagine even getting off the bar. Thanks for making this great video. TD doesn’t get enough looks.
I got all my figures from Openpowerlifting.org who have it as 1072.5kg. I've double checked and the figures they've got for his S,B,D are all correct so they must have miss calculated his total. I'll drop them an email and ask them to correct it.
He took a 4th attempt squat and did 360, giving him 1082.5. Generally 4th attempts don't count towards your total but in the wrpf if you make your 3rd and 4th then it will count.
Hi Shashi, I've just replied to pretty the same comment. Openpowerlifting have miss calculated his total, I will be emailing shortly to ask them to correct their database.
Awesome to lift these weights in a full powerlifting meet! Had the same style myself. Hit it and it looks easy / explosive, miss it and it just explodes and stops halt. Weird enough it makes Danial Zamani's lifts seems more legit also, explosive style (although would love to see him in competition). Would love to see the guys all go at it in a meet with the three of them.
He’s an amazing bench presser but there is no way he’s touching the current Bench press record. I believe that Julius will eventually get 800lb which will be way to high of a lift for anyone to catch.
Thats not the point,Julias doesn't do deadlifts or squats, he is a "bench specialist"When Davis did 705, he participated in the deadlift and squat, making his bench the highest for a full powerlifting meet.
Sarichev did 1082.5 total with 320 easy bench years ago. Here is the video ---> ua-cam.com/video/oeq7sD-Vc5A/v-deo.html Also in your video his total is wrong how is 360+320+402.5 = 1072.5 LOL
In "push" only competitions he is 7th. In a full Powerlifting meet he is 3rd but in my opinion he should be considered 2nd because the guy who is first place (James Henderson) only did a 60kg Squat and Deadlift to qualify for the bench press.
Considering that Julius is 33 years old and TD is 28 TD has room to reach Julius. In 5 years from now TD if he continues and remains injury free he can easily do 740 plus in the future.
That he competes drug-tested is what impresses me the most. I really hope he is natural and has never used PEDs. If so then he seems to be in a class of his own when it comes to natural bench pressers. I saw a video of him when he got his gold medal for an IPF world championship with one arm around the silver medalist and the other around the bronze medalist. Kind of funny because he not only beat them with about 50 kg but also looked like a super-giant compared to them even though they were also giants compared to any normal sized human. It's interesting that he does not look that big when he was in high school, but I am also much larger now than when I was in high school although nothing near Thomas so it maybe is possible drug-free. If he did start with PEDs, assuming current natty status, I can't see it any other way than that Julius Maddox would be in big big trouble!!
@@scarred10 You may think I'm delusional or ignorant, but as long as I think it exist a theoretical possibility for me to lift 700 lbs naturally, at least in prime age and ideal circumstances, I find it to be some kind of self-satisfied hypocrisy to not give people the benefit of the doubt. I don't want to limit the possibilities for myself and therefore also not for others.
No ones ready for the monster total in the making thats coming from this man. My coach and now a good friend is undoubtedly in my mind gonna be the first to total 2500+ in sleeves 💪
Hi Andrew, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'm really looking forward to seeing TD's continued progression, what an awesome athlete!
TD is a great bencher but it always shocks me how deep the bar dips into his chest before the press. Is there a reason for that? Seems like other heavyweight benchers don't let it dip that low.

Yes he's got so much all-round potential which is very unusual in Bench specialists
The problem with TD in the bench is that his technique is much like a throwing movement, lots of momentum off the chest but it disappears at lockout. He seems to lack controlled driving strength so isn’t the best at grinding reps. Either the bar is moving really fast or not at all
I thought he may lack a bit of tricep strength as he doesn't seem to engage them
@@StrengthUniverse definitely but I also believe he should work on doing slower reps and keeping tension throughout the movement

Dude is a monster
Henderson did a 60kg squat and dead? Can anyone explain to me why? I'm sure he could have atleast pulled 200 on each.
Presumably to take the record for bench in a full meet with as little effort as possible but this was back in 1997. I'll have to do some digging.
Спрашивают, кто побьёт рекорд Мэддокса... Ответ : Мэддокс!🤣🤣🤣
Freak off nature no weaknesses wow
210kg..ok
Yes that was his peak weight
Did he still drug free
Incredible performance but Julius Maddox seems so far ahead of everyone ... except for that Iranian monster who doesn't seem to compete.
Next: Eddie Hall vs Robert Oberst, they keep saying they’re rivals but we know Eddie wins by a long shot

Waiting for 100 pound dweebs to say he "is just fat"......
When you can deadlift 390kg and that is not the most impressive thing you can do 😄
7:11 something doesn't add up there in case of Kirill. According to that data his total is higher than Thomas.

I don't think he's doing the Kern

Thomas DAVIS vs Julius MADDOX in 2021 = what's UP crazy BATTLE

He actually has some pretty long arms for benching too.
Maddox is tha King ! Long rule that Yogi Bear
He is not the strongest but at least drug free
He doesnt compete drug free now.
why is his form so shaky and not controlled for all lifts? kind of curious
Bench is very elite next time he should go 900lb+ on deadlift and on squat 850lb+ or maybe like 880 I reckon he could crank out for a single💯💪
That would be cool
sounds like hes 75 pounds behind so not before maddox
Don't forget that 705lb bench was done in a full meet and he fainted just beforehand so bench is probably not as far behind as it appears
he's probably tied for powerlifting achievements with Kirill Sarychev at the moment, but in the coming years he'll likely pass them.
He’s an absolute unit.

@My Pets ohhhhhhh
Never, hes a huge way off that,800lbs is his target.
@@scarred10 ohhhh, but i can tell you than MADDOX can do it really, it's not a joke
No way he is natty
He apparently started TRT in 2019: ua-cam.com/video/xFy0ilXt_Dw/v-deo.html
He takes 200mg every 10 days which is way above natural levels
to bench 700lbs natural is just insane
What an absolute tank!
No one see the mistake at Kiril Sarychev's total? It's 1082,5 not 1072,5 so TD did not beat him
Hi, I have replied to several comments about his before. Kirill did a 4th lift which most organisations don't count towards the total.
I saw Big Julius at the deadlift. That's a level to look to. I think Maddox has got the bench locked up. T D is strong for sure.
Considering that Julius is 33 years old and TD is 28 TD has room to reach Julius. In 5 years from now TD if he continues and remains injury free he can easily do 740 plus in the future.
No natty has ever benched 600lb raw
Julius said he hopped on TRT after his 600 lb bench. Dude's just naturally stupid strong.
And it will always be that way
Way better bencher then maddox
No fucking way he is natty
So he have more KG than CM in height, hahaha
