I also figured that if Grogu was the son of Yaddle and/or Yoda, it would be for the reason you mentioned - their species is not only rare, but (as far as we know) generally strong in the force. In my opinion, Grogu is unlikely to be the result of a "passion" between Yaddle and Yoda (or either of them with another of their species), but intended by them as an addition to their species and a gift to the future of the Jedi Order, to be raised in the temple.

Ki-Adi Mundi has four wives because his species are rare, and he is actively helping add to the population, so based on his case, the idea that Grogu could have been Yaddle or Yoda's child could be for the same reason.

Re Grogu. One theory I’ve been playing with is that he is actually more intellectually advanced than is shown. It’s fully possible that the trauma of order 66 and his subsequent captivity caused him to retreat in his mind into “infancy” as a time when he was “safe” when actually he was/should be the equivalent of a human 8-9yo. Still a child but more developed than is shown. The feelings of safety he’s getting being with daddy Din is allowing some of that knowledge and maturity to return.

Right! I Loved how Anakin pointed out droids are easy to counter and predictable, which made me wonder about Luke’s Mandalorian cameo. Anakin saved Ahsoka by pushing her in her training against the clones and when compared to the other Jedi; they were not ready for the unpredictability of the clones during Order 66. Ahsoka was well prepared and I loved that

Yeah. I mean like a testube baby conceived in a lab would be the most believable and fitting. If that was an official Jedi sanctioned birth as well it would partially explain why Moff Gideon much later would be hunting down Grogu for tests etc. Information about grogu would probably be easy to find in Republic/Empire archives. And we know how much the emperor was hunting force sensitive children and lost Jedi and Padiwans etc. VERY BELIEVABLE.

They can do so much more with the Tales of the Jedi.
If I was asked to make some episodes here is the stories that I would pick:
    1. Palpatine and Darth Plagueis
    2. Yoda and his master
    3. Dooku discovering Asaijj Ventress for the first time
    4. Asaijj Ventress vs Anakin (their first ever encounter)
    5. Showing more Jedi survivors from Order 66
    6. Introducing characters from the Old Republic era:
    Darth Revan
    Meetra Surik

      2. I do not think this will happen, as it would go against Lucas's "keep Yoda mysterious" belief. However, you know what I would love to see? The story that the Ollivander-droid mentioned in Clone Wars, the tale of Yoda getting his first kyber crystal as a padawan, which was hinted to be very eventful!

Hmm. Even if Yaddle was Grogu's mother, we cannot forget that she was also a Jedi-complete with all the trappings that entails, including wariness of attachments and the fear it embodies. She would do the right thing regardless of any other implications, trusting the force to sort those out.
I'm in the it's possible (but I truly hope not) camp. I hope Filoni can resist.

  • @TKay42one

Loved it as a whole. I thought the first episode was...okay...but then the rest of the series was amazing. It's so odd to think of Dooku being for social justice in the beginning. Had they used that route with Anikan, I would have understood why he suddenly saw the Jedi as evil. At any rate, BDH did a great job with Yaddle, and it was definitely sad to see her go. But I think the part in the series that got me the most misty-eyed was the one that ended with Ahsoka and Rex. It made me chuckle every time she would get stunned it training, and then jumping forward, showing us that she would never have survived Order 66 had Anikan not been so hard on her, yeah, I definitely got choked up. And OMG, they recreated Padme's funeral perfectly. I was amazed.

I loved Tales of the Jedi so much. IDK why a bunch of the episodes were so emotional for me but it must just be because of my love for Clone Wars and Rebels. The Sith lord is my favorite episode. I loved seeing Yaddle and Qui-gon. Seeing that side of Yaddle was just a treat. If it was for Sidious in his ear I think he may have recognized her conflicted views she also has with how the Jedi order had been operating and maybe had a chance at redemption. Next would be the last one with Ahsoka. I love how it connects how she reconnected with Bail and became Folcrom. I love that they showed the transition of her montrals and head tails to be like in Rebels and I really loved that she was going by the name Ashla. The episode before that was my next favorite because it ultimately was just showing the training she got that ended up saving her during order 66 in the Clone Wars. Talk about poetry.

When Yaddle tells Dooku to come back with her, he tells her he can't. I took that as the same as when Luke tells Anikan/Vader to come back with him and Anikan/Vader says "you don't know the power of the dark side". Don't remember where I heard it, but the Vader line is almost like he's pleading with Luke, that he can't leave the dark side on his own and maybe that's what Dooku is telling Yaddle that he can't, that he needs help. and because she misunderstood, she couldn't help him. I could be way off, but that's the way I'm taking that comment. Dooku may well have wanted to leave the dark side, but couldn't.

My favorite point in the argument would when Grogu choses between being a Jedi or Mandalorian. Choosing between two father figures.
    1. A shield givem to him by a Mandalore who treats him like family and a son, and pushes him to find his way, whether with him or not.
    2. A lightsaber that belonged to his potential father who was never there. And even after order 66 never searched for him or treated him like a son.

I feel that both the 'Tales of the Jedi: Episode 6' and EK Johnston's novel 'Ahsoka' show portions of Ahsoka's life after Order 66. The novel goes into detail, but does not cover the whole timeline. In Rebels, Ahsoka shows she is stronger than the inquisitors, so defeating two before then seems quite believable. In the book, Senator Organa saw "Possible Jedi Sighting" in the empire logs and sends a crew to find who that Jedi was. He didn't know it was Ahsoka. He never gave her a communicator. She reunites with R2 and it's the Kyber crystals inside the 6th brother lightsaber that calls to her and makes her go fight him. She doesn't kill him like we see in the episode. Right after that, she makes her white light sabers. It's a good read, I recommend it.

Now that I saw that, Dooku deserved what he got from Anakin. My respect for his character has decreased sharply. I first saw him as someone who turned because he honestly saw that the Jedi were going the wrong way, but he total embrace of the darkside, to the point of even killing one of the Jedi that he knew agreed with him and loved him enough to go into a very disadvantaged situation to try and save him showed my that he was a truly heartless and calculating person. Another thing I did love though, was the Caleb Dume/Kanan appearence, even as brief as it was ;)

I'm confused about the timeline for Dooku. We know from Jedi Lost and Master & Apprentice that he left the order a few years before Qui Gon killed Maul, with little contact between him and the Order. The clone army was ordered around the time of the Phantom Menace but what was Dooku doing at the Temple? I understand him being invited to Jinn's funeral (sort of) but it's a bit strange.

There are 2 possible answers to that. Either, they just retconned the book. Or, as said in the book Padawan, dooku still visits a lot and is authorized to assist to council meetings. So he would sort of be in a grey area, where he is officially out of the order, but still highly regarded and trusted, so they let him do what he wants in the temple (maybe hoping he would change his mind and return)

Yaddle and Yoda must maintain their Jedi status above everything. They are not a couple, they just had a child to preserve their species as long as they have the power to do so. Yaddle may not completely agree with Yoda on this and this is how her train of thought alines with dookus, but she can not display her motherly emotions for either of the sith may sense it. She must focus solely on being the best Jedi she can be if she is going to try to portray a good example for dooku no matter what the outcome.

I don't have nearly the attachment to Yaddle as you do, Meg, so for me the best episode was clearly episode 2. That one actually got me a little misty. I never thought that I would actually like Dooku more after this series, and even though he kills Yaddle, the two stories before that actually give him some credence to his actions, however evil they are. It's tough for me to really give a solid ranking to the rest of the episodes, I loved them all, but I guess I would say: 2, 6, 4, 5, 1, 3. But the last three could really be interchangeable for me.

Tales of the Jedi was some of the best star wars we had in a long time. It showed Doku to be human and confliced more than Anikin. You got some of the back story and could understand why he was put out with the Jedi. I just hate he killed Yaddle, Somehwere I had read that Yaddle was killed saving Anikin from a bomb, so I was confused to her dying like she did to Doku. Duko is very flawed and confliced. Loved Mace showing up. I hope we get more of tales from the Jedi.

I loved all the episodes, though I slight disappointment about the 6th because it's a condensed, compressed and changed version of the story of the Ahsoka novel. I like Dooku's story about the fact that he always ends up fighting a greedy senator and since the Jedi reports to them, he ends up thinking that the system is broken. Regarding Yaddle, I honestly don't care much about this character. I prefer to think that Grogu hatched from an egg.

From what I know, Yaddle was not particularly skilled as a duelist, while Dooku was one of the best and at the moment he was filled with dark side power. Also, Dooku was actively trying to kill her while Yaddle was not. Had Yaddle wanted to kill Dooku, she could have just used morichro on him.

Another possibility is that the mating habits are conducted through the force ... ie, both (maybe even if one is a force ghost) just meditate at any distance and then the force spawns the youngling or something similar. They could come up with something just really different for their species.

The big car (tiger?) had a very strong force presence as well, and I’m glad they showed the proper mindset of ethical harvesting of a wild animal.
Note: their species must be incredibly strong for their size, since her mother was going to carry the buck as well as Ahsoka herself. Excellent episode all around, Meg!

I loved this series, it fleshed out Dooku in three short episodes as a tragic figure as Anakin, but more so because while Anakin followed Palps to save his wife, Dooku seemed focused on ridding the galaxy of the bloated Republic and Narrow minded Jedi. I play SWTOR and the Jedi Council is depicted almost the same way. Too few open minded Jedi. You see the pain in Dooku as he wrestles with his decisions and we know he was just another place holder for Anakin. Very sad and complex, the Future and Force of Star Wars is Filoni. Already liked and subscribed, great analysis

I don't think Yaddle is Grogu's mom. No mom anywhere would walk right back into a fight she just lost to be slaughtered. Would any mom really think that helping a coworker (in this case Dooku) is ever more important than having a way to help her child by leaving on the ship she was conveniently on the same side of a huge door with?

    • @rosabellaalvarez-calderon4586
      @rosabellaalvarez-calderon4586 Рік тому

Yet Yaddle is still a Jedi Master, so she would be wary of emotional attachments, especially one as powerful as a mother-son bond. At this time, little Grogu would be well cared for at the temple, and have his fellow kin Yoda to look after him. She may have believed that Grogu would have plenty of people who could care for him, while Dooku (who I think may be her friend) was in grave danger to fall to the dark side. At the time of her death, Yaddle was already a few hundred years old, so she has definitely seen more than Dooku.

  • @SvensktTroll

She might have been confronting Dooku because of her child's future might be at danger if she doesn't. And also we never saw her die so she might have just disappeared into the force.

I personally I'm not a fan of the idea of Yaddle and Yoda being Grogu's parents. First of all: Not everyone in Star Wars who is powefull with the force has to be someones son/daughter or grandchild. That's also somewhat unrealistic, considering the size of the galaxy.
Secondly: I don't see a reason for Yoda or Yaddle breaking the jedi code. That would be kind of out of character for the two of them. And I know that there was some weird case in legends, where Ki-Adi-Mundi was allowed to father children, but I personally always found that story really stupid und unnecessary.
