This is a very interesting discussion. I like it, for whatever that is worth. Maurice Rogers also has some very interesting, and somewhat corollary points, in his first chapter of "Everything Is Temple". This fulfilled Preterism covenant eschatology paradigm has some MOST interesting, and COHERENT ideas. Well done. Thanks.

Thanks Zac as you talked it struck me that Revelation 22:13 and 1 Corinthians 15:47 are parallel, Jesus being of the first man of flesh, and the last man of spirit.
To confirm he was a man not God, as many want 22:13 to say he was from the beginning before Creation, but actually is says he is part Creation in Genesis 1.

The same motif of being brought from outside into the presence of God runs throughout the scriptures with every calling primarily the calling of Abram told to leave his land and kin the outside world to go to a place God will lead him ie “follow me” and again with Jacob being brought into the promised land filled with garden imagery.

    Greetings Zach,
I pray this message finds you well and that you remain encouraged in your walk of faith.
May you always reflect the light of Christ - for you were known before your body - before time.
A thought for your listeners - when reading Pauls epistles it is important to acknowledge and respect that they are fiest and foremost juat that.
Letters written to a specific audience with specific intention because of specific surrounding circumstances....
Pauls letters differ in subject matter even though the substance is Christ.
The condition of each fellowship (think of Rev 2 and 3) requires tuition and cultivation.
Corinth more than any other fellowhip was in need of guidance as they were lacking the spiritual understanding of Christs revelation to the known world - the Kingdom of God on earth - God in you - the Holy Spirit.
Paul wrote 8 letters to fellowships that he ministered to (excluding Romans) and 4 letters to individuals...
In simple terms, no fellowship needed more guidance than Corinth....his two letters contain 29 chapters - 5 times more content than letter to any other fellowship.
When one reads the first letter to Corinth as a 1st century Corinthian one begins to understand the thematic purpose of that specific letter.
I am not taking anything away from the deeply profound and rich content of this letter (even for us today) but please give respectful thought to Pauls reason and purpose for this letter - this fellowship came from a place of wealth and pride and this same carnal nature was seeping into their faith....this fellowship was quickly becoming divided and haughty and self righteous....
Paul is teaching them about grace, compassion and love for one another - the substance which is Christ.
When we examine 1 Cor 15 I believe it must be done in light of the tone of his whole letter - he has emphasised the point of their faith is love for one another - so much so that faith is pointless without it bearing the fruit of love (1 Cor 13).
I would offer verses 29 to 34 to better understand what Paul is teaching about spiritual resurrection...he dies DAILY - so that He may be reborn DAILY.
Finally and I believe very importantly is chapter 16 - how does Paul finish the letter.
His emphasis is to close the loop on where he began.
In chapter one he exposes the division within their fellowship which comes from the division in their minds - whic still comes from the desires of their hearts.
In chapter 16 he emphasises unity and a love for the brethren and all the saints - so much so that in verse 14 he emphasises that ALL things be done in LOVE.
Thankyou again for your video - I am not sure how I came to receive it (praise be to God) and yet I pray my comment reaches you and blesses you....(thanks be to God through Jesus Christ - who has revealed our Father to us).
May you be blessed by Love - for God is Love.
    ❤️🫂❤️

I think I agree with you but Gen 2:7 is before God put man in the garden. Would that not cause an issue if the argument is face to face in the garden is symbolic of covenant relationship?

When G-D made man, he had an Aurora about him ( shining). But when he fell, he lost this Aurora, and he heard the voice of G-D walking in the garden. They hid themselves among the trees in the dark and lost this Shining they had. Adam WAS the bright morning star till they lost it. Shalom

These are interesting thoughts. However, if Adam was the first "covenant" man (and not the first man), wouldn't this mean that Adam's sin would only affect those in covenant and that those "outside" the covenant need not be "redeemed" by Jesus from Adam's covenantal sin? Seems kind of exclusive. All men would not need redeeming by Jesus if Adam's sin only applied to those within the covenant (temple/garden). Am I wrong? Thoughts?

    • @zachdavis3882
      @zachdavis3882  Місяць тому

Unless redemption only applies to those in the covenant. But Adam would’ve had a pre garden condition “in the dust”. That would be the category all others outside the covenant would be in and they would still need to be brought near to God by Christ.
Most of the talk going on right now is about 2 categories. In Adam or in Christ. I think it’s possible there’s a third. In adam(old covenant). In Christ. Outsiders in neither covenant.
Now that the old covenant is gone you only have the other two left. So the universal and io claims are garbage.
      I’m studying! No conclusions yet

“Then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
    Genesis 2:7
2:7 The Hebrew for man (adam) sounds like and may be related to the Hebrew for ground (adamah) ; it is also the name Adam (see verse 20).”
    NIV footnote.
“By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
    Genesis 3:19
Is this all covenantal, or relating to the physical and spiritual aspects of a human?
Did Adam come from the nations or from the soil?

Adam was a picture of all people who are outside of the presence of God. Adam was never in the presence of God, the second Adam, the spiritual Adam Jesus, abolished that and gave us access to the presence of God! Does that make sense?

[Psa 139:7-8 LSB] Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
Adam hid from God's presence, but did he escape it? Could he? Perhaps it's one thing to be in God's presence and another to enjoy it -- to stand justified, without guilt or shame, having peace and life-giving fellowship with Him. Perhaps we can only do that clothed with a righteousness not our own.

@@devincooper4055These are very good thoughts! God is omniscient and omnipresent. We enjoy his presence through the rebirth of our spirit from God's spirit. It is important that we allow ourselves to be changed by him into the image of his son Jesus Christ. Verses 23-24 also fit in with this: Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts. And see if there is any evil way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Blessing

Gen 1:2 KJV And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Old covenant Israel was in darkness bondage to the old covenant in sin and they did not recognise their Messiah

@ophiuchus9071 Gen 2:8 ISV The LORD God planted a garden in Eden, toward the east, where he placed the man whom he had formed.
Adam was given a covenant relationship with God, men were in darkness without A knowledge of God because this relationship with God brings light to Adam a knowledge of God Adam sined and broke the covenant/relationship sin and darkness are a separation from God hence Adam is taken out of the garden were he cannot tabernacle with God the true light comes into the world and restores the connection again
      Eden restored
Rev 21:3 ISV I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See, the tent of God is among humans! He will make his home with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God.

The first century saints were like fore-runners for the whole Creation. They had what the rest of the whole creation was waiting for.
The question is what were all the things they were waiting for…?
They were waiting to be adopted into the liberty of the children of God and receive their redemptive body for the afterlife when they passed away.
Before AD70 mankind was the Offspring from Adam and shared the same death in the afterlife in Hades.
Post AD70 Jesus Christ the last Adam became the Everlasting Father of mankind so they were adopted and everyone born after AD70 just became the Spiritual Offspring of the Bride and Groom. This does not mean everyone gets an immortal body for the afterlife, only those worth do though everyone receives an Spiritual redemptive body those who are not worth have their Spiritual redemptive body and soul destroyed in the Lake of Fire where only their conscience or Spirit remain tormented forever in the presence of the Lamb whose blood they trampled on.
The first century saint already had all the things like forgiveness of sins and salvation, adoption as children of God and were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise that they would receive their inheritance which was the redemption of the purchased possession of a receptive body for the afterlife which they had to wait for.
This ready but not yet does not rightly divide the word of truth between those forerunners of the new creation and the whole creation that was still waiting for it. It actually causes a lot of confusion especially with the CBV, CE and CC.
Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

The perfection, inheritance, redemption, righteousness they were waiting for was always connected to the ending of the old covenant, not physical death. You’re misusing body passages. Luke 21:28….if Christian’s experience adams punishment(which in your view is physical death), then Jesus failed.

@@zachdavis3882 I don't think you understood what I was saying, I never said: Christian’s experience Adam's punishment(which in your view is physical death). Christians were redeemed from Adam's death and never had to experience punishment Adam's punishment.
Where did you get this from...?
Jesus delivered all Christians from the death Adam experienced which was in Hades and also delivered the whole creation out from the bondage of corruption that the Old Covenant came from.

I’m wondering if someone isn’t tying you in knots so that you’re over thinking this my friend. You skipped verse 46 where it says that the natural came first (Adam) and then the spiritual (Jesus). Adam, a biological man, began it all and Jesus, the spiritual God-man ended it all.
You can say Genesis 1-3 is filled with covenantal language but perhaps that’s because God showed us his creation as a reference to where he was going. First the natural and then the spiritual.
Keep studying and I will too.

    • @zachdavis3882
      @zachdavis3882  Місяць тому

If Paul means Adam’s the first biological man then the text means Jesus is the second biological man. Both are covenantal references. Jesus as the second Adam’s not about biology, and if the reference to Adam is biological then that’s what Paul has to be saying. That’s not going to work in any theological construct.
Jan, you can also just say…. “Hey I saw you do a video with Tim and I don’t like him or covenant creation.”
No need to insult me by insinuating I don’t have the ability to think for myself or that “someone is tying you in knots”. The writers of the New Testament do not refer to genesis 1-3 in the material since but the spiritual. That’s the reason for my studies.

  • @ReformationRevelation
    @ReformationRevelation Місяць тому

The text literally says the first man Adam, it does not say the last man Adam, it says the last Adam. “Man” and “Adam” are different Greek words. Adam, in this context, means the name of the first man. Although Adam can mean man, this is not what it means here, clearly based on the context of resurrection and Jesus reconciling us to what Adam lost. Adam is a name. It does not say Jesus was the last man it says he was the last Adam.

1 Cor 15 is describing the resurrection/rapture when they received their glorious bodies at the appearing of Christ. They were changed from the visible physical realm into the invisible spiritual realm when they were taken to heaven to be with Jesus, exactly as he had promised them.
If Prestonism is correct, then your "covenantal change" was pretty much a nothing burger, because NO ONE, ABSOLUTELY ZERO, NADA, ZILCH, NO ONE commented on it after 70AD. Surely someone would have had something to say about how great it was to finally be crossed over into the new covenant. Yet, all we hear is crickets.
