I had my babies from 1965 to 1972, and then adopted 2 boys. Yes I had my babies in the hospital. It was unheard of to have them at home. I had one naturally and got lots of uncalled for opinions . The thing that upset me the most and hurt me the most were my mother and mother in law fussed at me and tried to convince me not to breastfeed. They also tried to convince me that holding my baby would spoil them. I still breastfed and held them . No schedules ! It was so much easier to let things go the way that felt right. My children grew up strong healthy and became adults that I am proud of. The only thing that I know would happen was that o wasn't going to get much sleep the first few months. It was toldly worth it. Love your channel and your common sense . Thank you for reminding me of my baby days! Enjoy the time you have with them now and remember that sometimes they grow up leave home and come back with more.😀😀.

It makes me so sad when people talk about how much they hate the newborn stage or how awful it is. It's such a special and sweet time and goes too fast I think 😭❤️ and it definitely is easier when they're so sleepy all the time! It's harder when they start to want to be awake and exploring the world! 😂
I totally agree with you, I chose to not do any scheduling with my daughter I let her nurse on demand and sleep when she wanted and she is 3 months old and sleeping through the night and a happy girl. I've had people tell me it'll spoil her if I hold her too much or wear her too much.... but I don't believe in that. We spent nine months sharing a body, why wouldn't I want to keep her close and give her the comfort she needs during this time? That's what us Mommas are there for!

I loved the newborn stage. Definitely the easiest. I found the first 3 years easy. After that, it got much harder. 😊

I never fail to marvel at cooking babies and giving birth, it’s an amazing experience and each little miracle brings its own love and character, I’ve had 4 babies, all grown up now, every birth was different. And they each had their own individuality 😍🥰

Bradley method really helped us- and not just for labor- has helped me deal with extreme illnesses, migraines and pain in other areas too.
I tore with all three of mine. 2 water births, one hospital birth. The worst was my first- water birth. You do what you do and your body will recover.
I always felt the end of pregnancy was designed to be horrible at the end so you’re willing to go through labor just to be done!
I had PPD, it was rough but I got through it with my ND/Midwife.
You look amazing! So beautiful. I’m glad there’s women out there who love being pregnant.

Try After Pain from Mountain Meadow Herbs! I took it with my 6th and it nearly took ALL the pain away! Used it every half hour or so the first day, then every time I nursed for the next three days or so. Helped SO much! Will not go without again!

Yes genetics and due dates are a real thing when it comes to my family! Between my maternal grandmother, my mom, and me....and still going, 11 of 12 babies have not only came on their own before their due date but have averaged at least a week or two early!

That study sounds fascinating. I've had my babies at 11 days late and 14 days late but am pretty sure the reason is that I ovulate later and have a longer cycle!

  • @ninasimon1255

I absolutely relate to you on the fact, that with my first baby I was so much trying to have her run on a schedule, because listening to other mums might make you feel that something might be wrong. I also started introducing a little sleep schedule at 6 months. With my second, I just decided to go with the flow and it was so much easier ... I recommend to every new mom to be to listen to their gut feeling. That is all that matters. Wishing you a wonderful and peaceful birth, Lisa! And thank you so much for sharing your story!

You are 💯 right on not forcing a schedule on a newborn, I tried it with my first and it was a disaster but did it because " that's what you do " then did it with my second child 9 years later because that's what you do. My third and fourth child I let them call the shots and life was so much smoother.

I delivered my Frank Breech baby vaginally with no meds at all. I never felt any pain with her either, it was honestly just uncomfortable. My midwife wasn’t authorized to deliver breech so she accompanied us to the hospital and helped immensely while I was transferred to a hospital doctor’s care. My daughter is 2 now!

I had my first at 38+4 and second at 39+4 so when my third took until 40+6 I was shocked. Lol. I physically felt fine but it was definitely a mental game.
I do have my babies follow a loose routine, but I need that and have found I’m a better mom. I always wish I could be less structured like someone like you, but it’s not who I am. Every baby has gotten easier because I’ve implemented more routine.
I felt my first was by far the hardest recovery, but my second was easier than my third. Hoping this time around to have an easier recovery like my second.
Good luck with the birth. I hope it goes as smoothly as it can. ♥️

I really wish I would’ve been tested for GBS sooner. I’m typically a no-antibiotics type of person, but I didn’t find out I was positive until after 38 weeks and this is my first so I just really cannot imagine taking the risk of them getting an infection. Now I know for next time, but I will be hitting the probiotics and ferments postpartum for sure. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

It's so funny how different bodies can be! I have had four natural births, and literally cannot get babies to come out without standing or squatting. 😂 With my first the (not very patient or respectful) doctor on call made me deliver on my back, and it was the hardest, most gut-wrenching thing I've ever done. I tore horribly and took months to fully heal. I delivered my next three squatting or standing and barely tore at all. I believe it is truly so important for women to do what works best for their own bodies, not someone else's!

My mother had 6 before her due date, out of the 5 girls she had the 5 of us had all our babies (12) before due date. We live in Ireland where they don't interfere with internals or inductions, unless medically indicated, before 40 weeks.

  • @maryannerick7617
    @maryannerick7617 5 років тому

I think one of the major reasons that first births are move difficult is that the mother is experiencing something new and doesn't know exactly what to expect. Yes, she is aware of how she'll experience labor pains; she knows full well how the baby gets here. It's the other things going on around her - the hospital routine (if that applies) can be most puzzling the first time.

congratulations... been following you for a while now and happy for you... hope everything goes well with the birth and the harder few days following that... my biggest challenge with the fourth trimester is the postpartum depression and the lack of milk supply! Those two keep me scared, anxious, sad, and much more, added to that the guilt of not giving the other kids attention. who takes care of your other children while you are taking care of your newborn? and who takes care of you? Do you have a good support group? how do you build that? Thank you

For anyone interested in alternatives to antibiotics for GBS (group b strep) there is a protocol you can do with a product called Hibiclens which you can buy at any pharmacy when you go into labor. Basically you mix it with water and use a squirt bottle to wash down there and it's supposed to kill the bacteria. I did this in the past and was planning to do it 2 months ago when I birthed my last baby but labor went to quick and I ended up not being able to do it. I suggest also doing some research on how they ended up giving antibiotics to every woman that tests positive

Definitely think position of baby dictates most tearing. Had a 6lb 10oz baby & tore (not badly but in my labia... it stung) I do wonder if I hadn't had an epidural would I have been able to sorta feel the "right" way to push to not tear. Unfortunately it was medically necessary.

I gave birth to my son on the day I turned 39 weeks. My Midwife casually mentioned that sometimes women give birth around the time of a storm with the change of geometric pressure. The night that my labor started we had a horrible wind storm. Since he was my first I mentally prepared not to go into labor until at least 41 weeks and she said because I was so relaxed with the due date it could have also made it easier for my body to start labor. No one will ever really know but it’s kind of fun

Can you make a video on your approach to the newborn phase? It seems like there’s a lot of “rules” but which are important to follow and which are ok to be more relaxed about. Thanks.

I totally cracked up at the decreased pain with each baby question! I wish! We are due with baby #6 on Thanksgivingish (our third homebirth). If you figure out how to cope with transition and pushing pain, let me know! Many prayers for a great and safe birth and baby!

I think a lot of tearing has to do worth each woman's skin elasticity as well. My first was a 95th% head, was facing up, and a vacuum assisted delivery, no tears. The subsequent three babies all had big heads as well, but were correctly positioned, except the last. She wasn't face up, but her head was crooked and wedged on my bones.

You are a good mommy and your babies love to stay inside your womb. Have a good, uneventful birth and a big virtual hug! Can’t wait to see what you’ve got!🎁🤗

Lisa, wishing you a wonderful birth experience, a healthy baby (so excited to meet your new family member), and big joy for the Farmhouse on Boone tribe. You are such a natural mama and homemaker. I know you inspire a lot of women. Thanks for your channel.
I always laugh at pregnancy Q & As because my question never comes up. The bigger a family gets and I try to imagine the schedule you describe, the more I want to ask when those babies get made. LOL. (Just teasing).
XOjennyinseattle (mother of ONE but happy grandma to three). 💕💕💕

To help reduce tearing apply pressure to the perineum to support it. Over here we have 2 midwives present for the delivery, one guides the baby and one is supposed to keep an eye on mum. Thats part of their job. (My besty is a midwife, she taught me alot!) I had a student doing that bit for my 4th or 5th I think and was able to reach when I felt stinging like I was going to tear. I was non verbal by then! (I had an emergency Caesar first time and 5 natural deliveries in different positions. All hospital but midwife assisted with minimal dr involvement if any. Standard for public care here if there are no actual medical issues.)

A totally believe that trying to incorporate too much structure to your life once the baby is born can actually cause some women to experience depression. I think that some feel that depression if they don’t structure. Every woman is different. I never structured and kind of just went with the flow of things. I had my first three babies (all boys) at 43 + weeks. My fourth and latest was a girl born at 42 + weeks. I always calculated my weeks from my first day of my last period. They were not induced and were born naturally at home. I had no complications, thank the Lord, and they were all healthy.

I was counting on first pregnancy going passed the 40 week mark, still had lots of plans until the baby arrives, didn’t even packed for the hospital. Then my water broke on 37 weeks and 6 days... 🤣 was so mad I didn’t get to enjoy 38, 39 and 40th week! 😝 will definitely have the bag packed before 36th week next time around.

Lisa you look so beautiful! God bless your l&d and baby. Thank you for sharing the Bible verse that helps you during labor, I really needed that!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

I really wish my post partum journey was as peasant as yours. We had horrible trouble breast feeding, baby lost weight, doctors freaked out, so much pain, 3a tear, 80 stitches,, hadnt slept in a week before hand, and my entire labour and delivery was 3.5 hours. I had such a hard time for the first 3 months. Really hoping my next one goes differently! Hope you have an uneventful labour and delivery. Snuggle that little gem of a human 🤗

I'm 34 weeks with my second, I liked hearing your opinions on things because I could relate a lot. I'm currently taking vitamin C and probiotics to hopefully pass my GBS test, I went "overdue" by 10 days with my first and I'm sure I'll go over again but Im totally happy with it (it's definitely genetic to have a big/overdue baby for me). Do you do anything to help with labor such as red raspberry tea or evening primrose oil?

  • @jodygoodwin77

I've torn with all 4 births. I have home birthed the last 3 so I was very able to listen to my body and do what felt best. I still tore. I really just think it's a genetics issue and depends a lot on your skins elasticity. Tearing does suck though. It sucks to sit there after you've given birth and have to get stitched up! But it's not the end of the world so try not to sweat it!
