Can you believe that this was actually his first time singing in front of a crowd? This was a yearly songwriting competition similar to Eurovision song contest that used to be held up until the late 80s. Each year there was a theme, and songwriters from all over Latin America would send in their compositions and select any singer they wanted to interpret it in front of the judges and audience. Can you believe he came in third place due to a technicality? His song did not adhere to the theme of that year's contest. P.s. All of the people in the audience looking dumbfounded and in awe of his performance, they were all well established singers and performers in the Latin American music industry, all amazed by the vocal prowess of this kid from Mexico City that no one had even heard of before. The only reason they cheered for him in the beginning was because he was representing Mexico in the contest. By the end, they were cheering for him only.
Didnt he actually won in 2nd? And it was well said that "some how, he came in 2nd". Everybody disagreed with the outcome. Clearly, the whole crowd and every witness was amazed, mesmerized by his talent, yet, we all know México and its corruption

SO happy that you analyzed José José, El Príncipe de la Canción! His voice was INCREDIBLE. Please check out his duet of "Amor Mio" with Carlos Lico, another popular Mexican singer, who clearly knew that José José was going places with that voice!!
So what I know about this performance is that he was a contestant and was the most applauded one but he didn't win, he got second but this performance was what made him known as an artist and after that he had a peak in his career as a singer and became one of the most famous artists in Mexico (along with Juan Gabriel whose "hasta que te conocí" performance is a MUST watch and would be highly appreciated if you react to it). Unfortunately José José's voice got damaged due to alcohol (lots of it) and his lasts years as a singer wasn't even the tiniest bit of his early years, he died this year but he let a great legacy behind. Thank you so much for your reaction video, it was amazing and I felt so happy every time I saw you get excited about his singing, that's why many of us Mexicans are so proud of him. Thank you so much Sam ❤️ and please do consider reacting to Juan Gabriel please. Xoxo
You are very to point, and you inspire people to sing. About Jose Jose His father was an important opera singer, his mother when younger and a classical pianist. He inherit their voice and musical talents and became in short time the biggest star in the Americas Spain and beyond for couple of decades and adored until he passed away as his talent and heart and humanity were at the same level.
Loved your video! I'm not Mexican but everytime I see a video with José José in it, I can't help but feel proud when people talk about him and be so impressed with his vocal skill. Definitely the talent of him must be known worldwide.
I think it would be cool if you reacted to Luis Miguel “La Bikina” and possibly compared it to his most recent performance of it. I know one of the main points you make, is about making sure the way that we sing things have a good shelf life and longevity. I think Luis Miguel’s two separate performance would be a great way to demonstrate just that! Ps. I honestly love your analyzation of the videos you’re reviewing . 🙌🏻👏🏻💛

Well in Spanish there are only 5 vowels, so they boundaries are wider,. A close or round o, or an open o don´t affect the meaning of the word. It changes a bit by geography, but a wider number of speakers prefer a middle point. People from Caribbean and coastal cities are notorious for using wide open vowels.
@@jeremyhernandez8405 For Spanish speakers "bus" and "boss" sound the same, with an "o" sound, yet to American English speakers there´s an evident difference.
@@badideabearcub2747 bus is not pronounced the same as boss in spanish at least not the region of Mexico I originate from. Bus would sound like "boos" in English
Lately there's been a lot of English speakers reacting to old music in Spanish, they kind my parents used to listen. It has made me realize how good those singers were. Before I was just meh it's nice, old music. Specially Rocío Durcal singing "Amor Eterno" (a song Juan Gabriel wrote when his mom died), and Camilo Sesto singing Getsemaní (Gethsemane from Jesus Christ superstar)

when we loved eachother the most
even the birds went away
foreshadowing the end
how sad everything looks without you
the seas retreat from the beaches
all colors turn gray
today everything its loneliness
i dont know if im ever gonna see you again
i dont know what will be of my life
without the blue star of your beign
that no longer shines upon me
today i want to taste my pain
im not asking for compassion or mercy
the story of this love was written
for the eternity
how sad everybody says i am
that im always talking about you
they dont know that thinking about your love
your love
i've been able to help myself to live
i've been able to help myself to live
today i want to taste my pain
im not asking for compassion or mercy
the story of this love was wrtitten
for the eternity
how sad everybody says i am
that im always talking about you
they dont know that thinking about your love
i've been able to help myself to live
i've been able to help myself to live
i've been able to help myself to live
'Saborear' is more closely translated to the word 'savor' not 'taste' but in this context the best word would probably be 'relish'
"Today I want to relish in my pain"
The author(Roberto Cantaral) wrote this song for his mom
This song always gives me the chills and I also enjoy voice teachers critique José José one of Mexico’s National treasures
"...in younger people... And older people. And just people." The cute Sam alert 😁
RIP Jose Jose his voice is so AMAZING his songs brings everyone in my family together no matter the generations
Please react to Juan Gabriel Live “hasta que te conocí” ! I would really love to hear what you have to say 🙏🏼❤️
Yeeeees, please do!
OMG, yes!!
I had the same thought!!! Lol
Yesssss!
Yes
That was his first singing that song live, never recorded before. He was aroud 22 years old and he didnt win the contest, he was third place... Nobody remember the first and second place but after this presentation he recorded a lot of records...
Please keep on analysing songs in different languages from all over the world. I love how the techniques are something that tie us all together... Trying to produce nice sounds. 🙃🎶
Agree 100%, am tires of always watching reviews of mainstream American BS....
The crazy part is that everyone who has tried to sing this song can not get this interpretation. Just a beautiful song and a beautiful person.
The point you hit on about knowing what something feels like to know how to do it, this is lost on a lot of teachers. Great artist choice.
I would really love to know you deeper in there I might guess you have a beautiful sight, besides beautiful eyes, let me know you who knows what fate may have for us, my cigarette phone number is + +54-261-302-4096 huge kiss
I cry every time I hear this performance, Jose Jose is one of the most iconic singers our country had the opportunity to raise. Thank you for appreciate and place him where he deserves to be. We love our Principe de la Canción.
I grew up with listening to him and it brought me so much joy to see you react to this :)
SO happy that you analyzed José José, El Príncipe de la Canción! His voice was INCREDIBLE. Please check out his duet of "Amor Mio" with Carlos Lico, another popular Mexican singer, who clearly knew that José José was going places with that voice!!
"en vivo" means live and is not part of the title of the song, you probably know that already but just in case you don't lol
AAHHHH I'VE WANTED THIS FOR SO LONG!! Thank you Sam!! :) great video as usual, greetings from México! 💕
You are one of the kindest voice teachers I've seen.
Awesome to see this in your channel, I have been following your analysis and you are still my favorite Voice Teacher. Cheers from Mexico
Xoxo
Nirala Lee He lose the contestant because the public was judging the lyrics, no the singers' qualities.
My favorite José José song of all times. Great video. Lots of love from Colombia ♥♥♥
As a Mexican whenever i see a foreigner reacting to jose Jose and loving it and praising his voice it makes me happy to know that music doesn't have barriers at all and can be enjoyed by anyone 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much for reacting to our Prince. Muchas gracias por reaccionar a nuestro príncipe.
Love from México 🇲🇽
Wow! Well done, Sam. I'm impressed with your amazing ability to go into great detail.
I love how you said it was so beautiful . Made me smile . My mom loves his songs . They always bring her joy to listen to and bring her memories of when she was young
I've been waiting for you to make a video about José José, it's so nice to hear you commenting and providing details of everything he used to bring with his voice. I love your videos and how nice you always are when you are giving constructive criticism, you are a joy to watch :)
I really get exited when you get exited 🤣 even though I dont understand too much about music I love your videos. José José has a voice that give me gusponms every time I heard a song of his.
Can you analyze Marc Anthony- Preciosa? He is one of the most famous salsa singer in Puerto Rico.
We can tell you liked someone’s voice because you just laugh . ☺️
Me encanta ésta canción!!!! Es tan profunda y la interpretación de José José es impecable e increíble 💕💕
Out of all the video reacts to Jose Jose yours is top 1 ❤
8:13 I’m almost sure it’s because he’s singing in Spanish and that’s the way amor is pronounced.
@@badideabearcub2747 in mexico there is only one way to pronounce o and it's the way jose jose pronounces it
@@jeremyhernandez8405 For Spanish speakers "bus" and "boss" sound the same, with an "o" sound, yet to American English speakers there´s an evident difference.
@@badideabearcub2747 bus is not pronounced the same as boss in spanish at least not the region of Mexico I originate from. Bus would sound like "boos" in English
@@jeremyhernandez8405 I put that example as a reference for native english speakers. "Boos" is an incorrect pronuciation of Bus.
And thinking that he never received vocal instruction is just pure talent
I love a disclaimer before the intro 🤣
José José is giving me life today. His voice is sooo good. Loved this!
And indeed his father was a tenor and he teched José José such of technics.
EL PRINCIPE DE LA CANCIÓN
My dad loves Jose Jose. This performance is incredible.
Jose Jose was amazing and he will be forever amazing, we will continue to enjoy his music for years to come... This 1970 was just the beginning of a brilliant career.
I love that you are super clear and give us examples with your voice
Dios como me hace llorar está canción en paz descanse, me encantan tus vídeos y los de Areh se nota un montón la escuela que tienen aunque no se mucho de música, podrías reaccionar a "hasta que te conocí" de Juan Gabriel?
As a proud mexican, I thank you for taking notice of José José’s beautiful voice.
It’s just so mesmerizing watching you talk about other singers’ voices so passionately! And you sure as hell are my favorite youtuber! I wish I could take singing lessons with you. You have such an amazing vibe.
Omg I love this song and this performance!!!!
I also really love Il Volo’s version of this as a tribute to him
I felt like I was showing my best friend to my father. AND HE LIKED HIM 😭😭😭💞
Of all the songs you could review, this video of Jose Jose, one of my favorites, it's the last I expected. Thank you!
If I had to choose a video for you to review, I would say: Tonada de Cabestero - Simón Díaz HD
Jose Jose was an icon in Mexico and throughout Latin America, his voice was unique, nobody will ever sing his songs with the passion and love he did. ♥️ R.I.P
And, again, one of the greatest mysteries in music history: how on Earth he didn't get the first place?!!! He was in a contest!
Because it was a SONG contest, not a SINGERS contest.
They say it's bad luck to win first place. Most of those artist never go on to make it. Third place is supposed to be the best spot you can get. Shakira, not saying she has anywhere near as good a voice as Jose Jose, won third place in a competition and look at her now.
Thank you. Jose Jose is the best and it is cool that people from other countries recognize his voice.
Hasta que te conocí Juan Gabriel
Getsemaní Camilo Sesto
Getsemaní 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
YAASS Camilo Sesto
Es José José puños
