Can anyone tell me how he's getting pressure to get the tap at 2:53 ? Is the pressure on both sides of the neck from the forearm on one side, and his pec on the other that's getting it? Just not sure how he's pulling it off one handed.
@@lukedecker4184 I got you. If you want to look up the move it's called a cow catcher guillotine. The success of the finish depends a lot on the initial grip. The easiest way to learn this move is actually from the front headlock, using one arm to guillotine grip and the other arm as an underhook, and then rotating them over onto their back. Getting your guillotine hand's wrist as high as possible is ideal. So not a chinstrap grip, but more getting the height of your choking wrist above the line of their clavicles. TThe underhooking arm punches across to the far shoulder. Once they're turned onto their back, instead of staying chest to chest, you want to sort of sit through to face their head...very much like a kesa gatame/judo side control position (while maintaining the guillotine and underhook). So now you're in that kesa gatame style sit-through position with a one-arm guillotine and an underhook. The finishing pressure ends up being kind of a mix between a guillotine choke and a chest compression. Also, depending on how much you're crunching their chin towards their chest, there can be a bit of a neck crank (can opener style almost) pressure onto the submission too. Does this help a little bit? There's a ton of footage of Craig doing these on all the B-Team rolls posted this year, and he teaches it on his Power Rides instructional too.
You can tell all these guys he is rolling with are pretty good grapplers, but when you roll with guys like Craig who is one of the best in the world and probably one of the best ever, he just makes everyone look like white belts.
I don't know ... I saw a bunch of puzzled blue/white belts tbh, reminded me of watching the white belts roll against the professor... hes not even really trying and is letting go of sub attempts and giving position and they're waddling around exposing themselves without any real plan of attack.
He does that a lot i've noticed, not sure why people go against it, he has 2 on 1 so if you roll with him instead of against him you're pretty safe, no chokes and hard to time the hooks to get the back, maybe it's just natural instinct to not give up the back.
high elbow guillotine. Popularized by Marcelo Garcia at his ADCC runs, most notably the ones from 2007 through 2011. Craig uses a slightly different grip than Marcelo did. Marcelo used a seatbelt grip and Craig inverts the grip. But it's the same choke. It's stupid strong.
2nd guy going too hard got arm barred hard. Wtf would you not just enjoy a roll with Craig? 😂 flow and have fun watching the crazy shit he catches you with.
What? He wasn't going hard lol. Just because you're rolling with the best doesn't mean you need to flow roll. People can enjoy a roll without smiling constantly.
this is a good grappler rolling with a great one. the difference? the great grappler convinces people to roll how and where he wants and asserts the fact that he is in control at all times. craig was caught in many potentially bad and dangerous positions which even a blue belt could capitalize on, yet in his reactions to these situations he doesnt give a "tell" like a poker player would. the first opponent was obviously a competition level high blue or purple who had many good answers and the thing is when he got in an advantageous situation he stopped chain wrestling and let craig counter, almost surprised he ended up there. craig gives him the mental illusion its a flow roll. but when craig felt the need to use athleticism or muscle, he did. the difference is when craig or black belts in general get in a tough spot and are passed , mounted or countered is the act very casual and mentally screw you into thinking its just some elaborate set up for them to take advantage of some mistake you made. the levels and experience arent the difference. its the mentality. craig is merely letting these people beat themselves. really fascinating.
It takes technique as well. Hes more than just using pure athleticism. Hes improved since meeting John Danaher imo. He's actually just really good and confident in his defense and knows when he can initiate his own attacks off of defense
Correct me if I am wrong but I think Craig was too passive(or lazy for lack of a more proper word) in those rolls to satisfy his fans at the seminar... Usually, people are expecting to see/feel their heros 'in action' at this kind of special seminars as they pay expensive fees and some even come from far away just for the seminar... After all, people can roll with this level of opponents (20-30% of Craig's real Jiujistu level as in the video) in their own gym everyday...
people don't go to a seminar to see the guys train at 100% afterwards? They go to learn a bunch of techniques. Seeing them roll is a bonus and to so easily wreck everyone with minimal effort is just as impressive imo
Yeah I think your wrong bud, I think people that go to seminars are paying to see their hero breaking down techniques...Craig is going with the energy, I guarantee you if you were about to roll with him and you said k bro I want you at 100 he would probably obligate and be wrapped up in twenty seconds.
Seminars are for learning, not spectator sport. You wouldn't learn anything from him smashing everyone in 30 secs and je wouldnt be doing it for an hour either at that pace.
Im pretty sure he tends to match the opponents energy and preferably, these high-level guys don't like to go 100% on seminars cos they can get accidentally hurt. If you pay attention, the guys he rolls against are also going slow and playful. Would be rough to be Craig having 5 guys going slow then 2 in a row at 100% (its a mental with that also has to happen) the 3 slow and last 100%.
He's so fucking good that he rolls 60 mins in half an hour
xD

That first opponent is smooth and directed, clearly an excellent grappler, but Craig has an unexpected answer for everything. Awesome.
pure technique and not trying to smash. good rolling partner.

@@droshi3464 exactly. The way the guy freaked out at around 5:30 is the way white belts that still aren’t 100% comfortable freak out
@@mordorprc1 He just tapped lol
I actually know the fourth guy he rolled with. He's a pretty high level purple belt
you can see the first guy was a lot more calm about his roll the 2nd guy was putting a bit more into it and Craig just wrecked him haha
yo the second guy had a nutty stand off with Jones though, rewatch it. it was magnificent
Craig is so creative and playful
10:27 my dude had to chew up a zenzu bean 😭
Imagine being that first guy and having to roll with him when he’s fresh and full of energy. Cruisin for a bruisin
