I got a 99 ranger its surges constantly it some times idles ok for like 30 secs then it goes back to surging what can that be

Normally thatll be caused by something mechanically wrong that the computer cant compensate for...so like say u got a vacuum leak caused by a unplugged or damaged vacuum hose so its getting too much airflow it cant adjust for..or the idle air control valve being stuck open...what i would check first is just for any hoses that are unplugged or damaged..possibly try cleaning the idle air control valve or throttle body which may be stuck open and not functioning properly..maybe check fuel pressure to verify its not a fuel related problem if those first 2 check out ok

I have 09 Chevy colorado. What might the issue be if when driving at around 45-50 mph my rpm seem to bounce up and down it also gives me like a weird vibration? Thanks !

Does the engine feel strong before that speed? No flashing check engine light or check engine light?

@@backyardchevy328 Yes, engine does feel strong before that soon as it hits 45 starts acting up. And correct no check engine or flashing light.

@@jamaro02 at what rpm is it bouncing up and down? Could be that ur transmission may be having trouble shifting if the rpms are higher when it does this..maybe check the fluid level..could also be that ur driveshaft u-joint may be bad.

@@backyardchevy328 it’s bouncing at 2-2,500 rpm. I actually changed the front driveshaft a few days ago.(it’s a 4x4) could it be the rear driveshaft that may be due for a change ?

@@jamaro02 yea normally thats due to the rear..i would inspect it for any type of play in the joints or any type of damage
