If you haven't read it already, my reconmindations are James Luceno's "Tarkin" novel and Drew Karpyshyn Darth Bane triology (Path of Destruction, Rule of Two and Dynasty of Evil). Drew Karpyshyn was also one of the writers for the games Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic 1, Jade Empire and Mass Effect.
