      Trust me, the button being on the back is great but truly an afterthought. If I designed it myself I would have had a power button on the top side that lit up when in use. When training staff to use the machine it is always a shock to them that the button is behind there :P

      The machine is user friendly but definitely someone should give everyone a tour of how to use it. I’m glad this was helpful! I imagine it was a fun break room hangout watching the video and learning that this big black cube that was taking up your counter space could make life better instead of being a huge paperweight :P

    Is the E8 machine capable of frothing milk suitable for free pour latte art?

    • @refinerosevillejeremy1332
      @refinerosevillejeremy1332  4 роки тому

      No, the milk that comes out is just lightly frothed but more just thinly steamed milk. For latte art, usually a thicker steamed milk is used which would allow for greater control and variations on the design.

    Thanks for the instructional video -- really cool!
    We just got the same machine, however, our dial only seems to turn to the right (90 degrees), not to the left. Why would this be?
    Also, the machine doesn't seem to be able to do a good frothy foam, like here, even though the steam is coming out fine. Does some tube have to go from the frother into the cup or putting the cup underneath the frother should be sufficient?
    Thanks for any replies as Jura E8's manual is quite confusing!

    • @refinerosevillejeremy1332
      @refinerosevillejeremy1332  4 роки тому +1

      I assume by dial you're talking about the dial that allows you to choose steamed milk versus frothed milk. The dial should turn left or right by about 45 degrees each way from the 12 o'clock position with turning clockwise being steamed milk and counterclockwise being foamed/frothed milk.
      There are a lot of reasons why your milk isn't coming out frothed, here are a couple of the reasons that come to mind for me:
      1) Your milk could be too thick, aim for 1% milk, you can try by watering your milk down. If that makes the milk froth easier, that means your milk is too thick.
      2) Cleaning! It is REALLY important that each component of the milk system is clean. Take out each piece the milk interacts with and soak it in warm soapy water every now and then to get the deposits removed.
      3) Check that each of the pieces are properly installed. The little rubber nipple (black) that is right above where the milk comes out should be replaced every now and then. Also it is the most finnicky part that goes bad on its own sometimes. Call Jura or wherever you bought your machine from and they probably have a replacement one for you to use to see if that's what's causing your problems.
      4) Take apart the assembly where the frothed milk comes out by unscrewing it and making sure each of the pieces looked perfectly aligned, if any amount of air sneaks in here while you're frothing milk, it'll come out just as steamed milk.

      We’ve only tried it with cow milk (whole, 2%, 1%) and soy milk. I don’t like the combination of coffees with alternative milks but I will say that it does produce drinks just about the same. It did seem a little more watery when using the soy milk.

    Do you have to clean the milk system with the Jura cleaner every day

    • @refinerosevillejeremy1332
      @refinerosevillejeremy1332  2 роки тому

      Not only should you clean it every day at the least. You probably should clean it no more than 30 min from last use as the milk/water sort of just sits in the tube after use in unregulated temperature areas. It really is quite a lot of work 😭 the alternative is swapping out tubes every couple months which is quite cheap. In either case get a narrow pipe cleaner to really clean the tubes and the adapters

    • @gorane87
      @gorane87 2 роки тому

      @@refinerosevillejeremy1332 cant you just rinse milk system and clean tube under the wather? And then at the end of the day just clean milk system? I saw someone when he was done with milk coffee had glas of water and swap tube from milk into the water and then just press hot milk so tube was cleaned by water :) im sure its not the right way but it should do it?

    • @refinerosevillejeremy1332
      @refinerosevillejeremy1332  2 роки тому +1

      @@gorane87 It's really up to you! So of course that isn't the "right" way to do it, but if the machine is being used often enough and the tube is being cleared of milk and water then you're mostly okay. The milk and milk-water will deposit fats, oils, minerals on the tubing and eventually would form sediment and bacteria/fungi... so in your case that once a day cleaning better be a little more thorough and possibly use a very narrow pipe cleaner to get the inside of the tube clean. If doing this, then hot water and soap will be sufficient to perform the cleaning bath. With regards to cleaning the actual milk froth part of the machine, you do probably need to use the milk system cleaner in any case as soap will not work properly at steam temperatures (denatured) and will also foam so much that you'll have a different type of mess on your hands.

    This is as states but NOT in the instructions at all * You MUST unplug the cooler (Fridge on the JURA site) or your milk will be frozen by morning. Nothing states this any ware. If i new this before buying , It would make me rethink the item. Hope this helps. I learned this direct from JURA support. The tech also stated the board goes bad after a wile, in my case 1 year 2 months, then the milk freeze solid hard every morning.

    • @refinerosevillejeremy1332
      @refinerosevillejeremy1332  2 роки тому +1

      We have three milk coolers (not the newest version but the one that was available 2014-2020) and they have NEVER froze the milk. I guess we should count ourselves lucky. That being said we really never leave the milk in there for more than 8 hours at a time. I also wouldn’t trust it to refrigerate the milk for longer than that as every time you use the milk it pulls back milk and water from the tube into the milk cooler and that waters the milk down each draw along with brings contaminants into the milk. Then again if ours had the issue of getting too cold then much of my worries would go away. Not sure how frustrated you are with Jura, but in your shoes I would call and get that milk cooler replaced. Also our coolers are the larger size and not the smaller one.

      Interesting! We'll try that out for a little to see if it makes a difference for the cost. At the moment our two machines are 3 and 5 years old and working properly given our improper milk cleaning usage. The thing we have found most useful is to squeeze the tube and clean it by rubbing once a week. Also placing the entire milk apparatus in warm water with some cleaner diluted for 30 min once a week also has become standard cleaning procedures for us. That being said both machines are used daily for ~45 cups of coffee with about ~30 of them with milk in them.
