I think you made a great decision not making it wide body. That car looks great just the way it is. As far as color I think you should leave it the same or a darker gun metal grey. I would use actual Toyota paint. Anyway you look at it that car look like it's moving (fast) sitting still. Love it.
I like the direction of this build. Just an idea for the hood would be to repair the damage, then flat black the center section leaving the exposed carbon on the outer portions. The big worry is finding frame rails out of square once you start bolting things back in.
Since you are not painted the inside of the car I think you have to go with silver again so it doesn’t look patchy. Just go with the stock colour but add a pearl to the paint.
AMG Solarbeam Yellow + Carbon would look a cracker on your supra Chris! Love the build, also check out the Ridox kit, i think you have the front bumper and side skirts, now get that rear end!!!
I thought you wanted to do a stock restauration to a "collectors car"? Already wondered last episode when you trashed the Plastic Trims and said its all gonna be Carbon ^^
You should get a attic fan setup where it runs all night to get the building cool but turns off during the day. also get one with filters and baffles to keep the dust out.
Personally, I'd go with that Mercedes silver/gunmetal metallic that looks like liquid metal. Expensive paint but so amazeballs. And would look murder with carbon fiber accents, black chrome, tinted windows and black wheels.
Completely agree with you there mate, I would go as far as to say even Mercedes solarbeam yellow triple layered would look unbelievable on this in the sunshine.
Yeah, silver looks amazing on a Supra, especially with carbon fiber parts. The only other color I'd possibly paint it would be Lamborghini's Nero Nemesis, which is on the complete other end of the spectrum, but it's a wicked color.
Idea for the Carbon Bonnet/Hood... If you really wanted to keep at least some exposed Carbon, could you not add some Stripes or some sort of Decal/Logo to the areas that need repairing?
I actually really respect the B is for Build team for taking the time and the effort to listen to the peanut gallery. I know a couple of channels who would write them off as entitled, but I'm glad this team isn't one of them. And if you're reading this, guys, I hope you have a great, healthy and peaceful week.
Not doing the wide body is a good decision in my book. I don't know whether it's a good idea to do the aftermarket parts, but you already got them and the car has crash history sooo perhaps it's the best idea in this case. For the color... Skyline blue? 😉 Pearlescent white? Some shade of extremely dark brown (no really). Good luck on deciding and on the build in general 👍🏻
paused @ 12:24 so glad you are picking this route. Make something you will love. Don't just crap out for views. I am so glad i never unsubbed. So glad it's back to classic BFB. I can't wait
I liked all of it. Glad to see you noticed sum of us hated change and kept it OG. I look forward to you all building my dream car. I thank you for keeping it mild. I really respect what you doing. Less talk more fab.
If that rear over-fender had fit. He was just going to cover the smashed rear fender with some aftermarket fiberglass but he's worried about the resale value.... 😂
That's what I thought too, before I ended the video. I was almost shouting "what a half ass job, damn" But I'm glad the rear fender didn't fit and he decided to repair it as stock. That was a close call. Lol
Just killing it with content…the frikkin R69, the resurrected Mustang, and a Supra build now?! This is going to look sick, and DEF paint not wrap this time. White is my go to, but anything from the full Toyota lineup would look killer, the modern 4Runner TRD Concrete (very Nardo gray-ish) or any limited TRD colors…
I would love to see you paint the Supra imperial jade mica. I think the color code is 6q7 from Toyota. If I’m not mistaken, that color is the rarest on supras and was only used on turbo models in 1998.
Sins I was young I saw a paint job on a Moto Cross helmet... Plumb Crazy Purple to start then it bubbles nicely into Candy Apple red and same bubble effect into Pearl white on the rear.. It look's great, tad expensive. Plan was to do a truck that way but a head injury stopped me from driving altogether.. Stay Safe Guy's, glad everything is going good so far health wise.. :)
Hey man, like where you're going with this one. I think you should definitely do a Pearl white with carbon fiber bits, especially if you can get that hood back right. But definitely like it so far, can't wait to see what Wheels you're thinking. I already know they're going to be Konigs. Keep doing what you're doing man
Because we've seen B is for Build do crazy stuff and I know they can build crazy stuff, it would be nice to see you guys build a really clean, pro level restomod.
Irish green pearl, for a paint color idea, I personally fell in love with the color once I bought my 2003 Audi A6 basically a 2 tone color, at times it's a nice dark metallic Green or a metallic black depending on lighting ect, you should definitely give it a chance, I also think it would go good with a exposed carbon fiber hood
That hood is sick! That should not be too difficult to repair and easily looks good enough to leave as a carbon finish. If that were my car, I would paint it the stock silver, but get it wrapped in red. Others were suggesting a deep metallic red and I agree.
Glad to see your going to replace the Qtr. panel and that was not molding it's weather stripping, you should remove it completely during repair as weld spatter can damage it and it should be removed for paint work also, I had my own body shop for over 20 years and did a lot of restorations and that car deserves factory replicated repairs with no shortcuts and no wrap which will de-value that car, set it on tall jack stands and hang some frame gauges in the proper locations to make sure it is structurally correct, you can even make simple gauges with cheap flat link chain, flat bar, S hooks and a 4 inch machine screw mounted in the center of the bar, if done right it's just as accurate as a set of $1500 gauges, it's time well spent for the kind of money these cars are commanding.
Please leave it stock color with a pearl or mettalic in it and if you want to change the color you can Wrap it afterwards. That way it stays kinda oem with door jams and hatch silver.
You should do Deep Jewel Green Metallic. It’s a factory Supra color but I think it was only on the 1997 model and is pretty rare. Would look great with some CF and maybe Bronze wheels!
For the colour i would take blue pearl metallic. Its a stock Supra mk4 colour (later models 1997/1998) and it looks awsome! The paint code is: 8L5 Good luck with the build and i hope you make it this colour 😁
MotionAutoTV did a rear quarter replacement on a supra and a full restoration. I would totally get with him and get some pointers and tips for most knowledge going into it
I’d personally go fully original, including bonnet! check the uk for parts! These weren’t and aren’t rare, well twin turbo less so. But supras in general
That's funny as hell. During the last episode, I was tempted to leave a comment about possibly powerwashing the car before you started work but I figured you wanted that "dramatic improved change" look from start to finish, so I shut my mouth!
I can't believe you waited so long to was the engine bay. When rebuilding/restoring a car, giving it a complete clean is the first thing you're supposed to do. And for the color... the factory silver is absolutely the right color for that car, and the contrast of the carbon looks amazing.
I know that you have 3D printed small body parts before, but have you considered getting an oversized 3D printer like a Voron 2.4 and 3D printing entire fenders in 1 or 2 pieces? You can get Voron printer kits in half meter cubed print volume, and I'm fairly sure people have built them even bigger. And the Voron is monsterously fast for a 3D printer without being ridiculously expensive.
You said that the carbon fiber looks good on a darker color. Go with a dark grey. Take a look at the Hyundai Thunder Grey (Color Code YG7). Super nice grey with LOADS of metal flake. I run a Seibon CF Hood on my 2020 Veloster Turbo in the Thunder Grey and I always get compliments on it.
I don't know How Find Such good Looking parts the Bonnet Bumper and side Skirts are Awesome I love them This Car is Yet Another one that's Going to look so Good Thanks Great Vlog
For the color, use the new dark green that toyota has for the 4 runner I think. Maybe add a little metallic flake. Then do carbon accents and dark bronze wheels
Mercedes has a colour that’s selenite grey metallic. With black accents, it’s aggressive as hell and would look amazing on this Supra build. Especially with an exposed carbon hood.
Keep here to that Snow White look. I don't why... But with Supra's of that Generation... They look good in White. Can't wait to see this JDaM beauty come back to life.
In the early-mid 90s, before I got my license, Trust/Greddy had a Supra in a dark green, similar to RE Amemiya green slash British Racing green. Can’t find the magazine nor pics anymore. It was #1 awesome imo tho! ✨✨
Chris are you going to try and change it to left hand drive or leave it right hand drive? I think black or a dark blue like midnight blue would look awsome on the supra!
B judging by the ridox kit you have. The white pieces with orange insides are from g.r.a.m.s.. I do not recommend using g.r.a.m.s since their quality is super terrible, but all the black pieces are from shine auto. Closest, affordable, clean almost perfect fitment as the authentic ridox aero. I had an accident with my mk4 a few years back and I had to replace the entire driver quarter panel. I’m sure they are still available since I also had another buddy of mines who has ordered one very recent. They still make them so if you are planning on stay stock rears you can just order one from Toyota.
I think a toyota 2000gt twilight turquoise or atlantis green would look dope on this build. That or surfside green mica from a tacoma, which is actually a metallic paint.
I know it would be a bit ironic, but I have always liked British Racing Green as a really nice car color that I think gets overlooked a lot simply because of its name. I think it would be a great color for the Supra!
You could use flat black paint or vinyl or air brush artist to stencil out a geometric design that covers the bad spots/ body work and leave the rest exposed carbon fibre. Or do a B is for Build graphic or Japanese writing.
Nardo Gray with exposed carbon fiber. Maybe do a pearl or metallic Nardo? Not sure I’ve seen that. For the interior, add blue highlights to accent the gray exterior.
You have a rear gem here... I think the quality of a restoration determines the price. You have a rear opportunity to show how to do a proper OEM restore on B is for build and you, Oscar and Kyle have the quality craftsmanship to do it... To me putting on aftermarket parts is like filling in the crossword in your action comic 1
Agreed. He needs to stop buying parts of eBay and just pull out the cash to get oem parts. Oem to the best of his ability. I'm sure they are a little scarce
I saw a darkish blue with turquoise in it locally the other day. Looked amazing. Unfortunately idk what the color code was but I think it could look really good with some carbon accents and hood.

I have always said that if I ever owned a Supra, I'd paint it or wrap it a deep candy apple red with mid-tone gunmetal grey accents for vents/venting and have at least 2-3" deep dish rims.
Download the FREE Upside App at upside.app.link/bisforbuild to get $5 or more cash back on your first purchase of $10 or more.
Yo Chris if you want some help on the quarter replacement I’m local and a journeyman Autobody technician
If you have to paint the hood you could put a stripe or sticker logo or something on it by leaving the carbon as an accent.
I would suggest dozer orange py5,ky5 for the paint the color or a gunmetal grey
Literally nobody gives two shits and wont be buying into this.
100% stock would never look like a B is for Build car. Good to see you've found a way to make both sides happy.
Both
Never widebody a Mk.4 supra, you just can’t. One of the best body shapes/lines ever for a production car

@@austinh1028 ok, but I disagree... there is no holly car that you can't do whatever you want with it. Supras are nice, and that's all.

I actually agree on this, I feel like wide bodies are played out and the Supra has such elegant body lines to begin with.

It's a great decision to keep it stock. Colour-wise, a triple layer blue (see Ferrari) or a triple layer purple (see Koenigsegg) would look stunning.
stock is boring
Just needs a little *PRIMER! :)*
And then we can drive it!
I think a dark metallic red would really suit this car and make it stand out from your other builds.

Red

Love the progress and explanation of your decisions, thanks Chris! For color, I would love to keep it a Toyota color, so how about the Hakone Green?!?
You received my *like* as soon as you declared it would not be widebody. Thank you. Made my day better.
