Real-time PCR (#RT-PCR), or quantitative PCR (#qPCR), is a highly sensitive molecular biology technique used to amplify and simultaneously quantify DNA or RNA in real-time as the amplification occurs. Unlike traditional PCR, which provides an endpoint measurement of amplified DNA after the reaction is completed, real-time PCR allows for continuous monitoring of the amplification process. This real-time monitoring is achieved through the use of fluorescent dyes or probes that emit fluorescence as DNA or RNA is replicated.
