I live in London and would chose Egyptair any day over BritishAirways or a European carrier. Egyptair renewed their fleet recently and are trying to improve the service. I appreciate the extra luggage and not having extra charges here and there i.e. luggage, meals. When it comes to flexibility and changes, if you need to change economy tickets dates, it is far cheaper than getting ripped off paying admin charges plus the any additional tickets costs on European carriers.
I love this format, you have even improved the narration of the video with the voice-over, and you seem more confident when you speak. All in all a great comeback !!
Really great to see you back David. You and Felix do a great job. Egypt Air is trying, and the meals looked appetising. Hopefully they can serve meals in re-useable dishes, and make other refinements, as you mentioned. Compared to meals on U.S. airlines, Egypt Air is well ahead. Personally, I would give Egypt Air an 8 out of 10 based on your review.
In the age of Covid-19 I think it was 100% wise for them to use the plastic utensils at least they get thrown away rather than use real utensils that get washed. My concern is...... what if they don't get washed properly.
They only switched to single-use plastics after covid. Never had them before. Based on travelling with them for the past 9 years. I assume they plan to go back to their reusable dishes once there is less concern around the virus.
Love the review! Keep it going…I just have a comment regarding the disposable food trays Egyptair uses, it is actually intentional as a covid-19 precautionary measure to fight the virus spread, not a matter of neglect. Which in turns makes me as a passenger more assured of their overall hygiene. Well done on the review.
Egypt Air has been around since the 1930s.... it had ups and downs for decades . i think they are doing a move now but not planning to hit in the higher niche ...it rather wishes to becomi the good economy option that focuses on tourism especially regular groups> thats a big market that can give a return on investments in a step by step policy. i really apreciated your remarks on the unclean windows and limited media content...i always complain from it too and i think you were trying to give them a waiver with the desert excuse :) emirates and qatar air come from the desert too !! i guess its rather cutting costs and mismanagement however they are very reliable and dependable in their operations and i hardly suffered from delays..lost luggagge.. etc over 40 years of travelling with them. they also offer a wide coverage and have great offers on longhaul flights to East Asia Africa and the US
We flew EgyptAir from Cairo to Luxor, and then from Aswan to Cairo. The only complaint I had is I felt cramped in economy class and the seat was not comfortable. But then I was suffering from a lower back pain and painful leg muscles from riding a camel and walking down into the Red Pyramid. One of our party upgraded to first class and met Zawi Hawas. The best plane experience we had on that trip was the flight with Air France, from Charles de Gaulle to Cairo. That was some seriously good food and wine served in economy class.
I guess that the plastic containers thing is related to Covid restrictions. I flew Egypt Air a lot as an Egyptian myself. I assume it’s a decent airliner. The cabin crew are helpful. The pilots are so professional with a very high safty record. What comes from the cons side from my view are: 1) The cabin crew typically speak Arabic and English, sometimes French also, not a wide variety of languages like the case in Emirates. But, this is something about Emirates that all the crew members are expats from around the world. 2) The lavatory hygiene is not the best. 3) The meals are not changing a lot from a destination to the other considering the different tastes of guests from different countries. 4) This is very important, you won’t find huge difference in QoS between economy and business class despite the huge difference in the price.
I spent three years working seasonally in Egypt during my degree (archaeo). I found that EgyptAir was pretty much the only way to get around the country that wasn't a complete omnishambles. My noble intentions of seeing more of the country and saving the environment by using rail went straight out the window when I realised that EgyptAir Express (as was) was so damn practical and convenient compared to literally everything else on offer. They did the job, and that in itself was a big win.
Thank you for the trial Flight on Egypt Air on of the oldest corporate in the history with a great experience and condider the Safety is the first in its policy
Of all the travel reviewers, Brutally Honest is the only one I looked forward to resuming. I also see that the issue of cleaning up in the EgyptAir lounges has still not been addressed since I last used Cairo Airport a few years ago. The irony is that the public areas are still actually much cleaner than the lounges!
First David let me say I’m so glad you brought back brutally honest! The one comment I will make is you would never get that kind of a meal on a domestic US flight. You should do a brutally honest episode on what American Airlines is serving now. You would be appalled 😱. Thanks for this review and I look forward to many more!❤️👍✈️

After having not flown in such a long time. I didn't think one of the things I miss so much was the roar of the engines. Thank you for the video. Do stay safe in your travels!
Love to see this series back on your channel. And let's all take a moment to appreciate the effort that goes into making this kind of content. Love you guys
I'm happy to hear this report on Egypt Air. I fly the airline frequently, especially domestically. All the remarks you made were ones I also have noticed. I'd like to see if their service has improved on their long haul flights, for example to North America. They were well known to be a 'less desirable' option for many reasons, but not serving alcohol was a noticeable one. Thanks for your review and keeping it real without sponsors. Happy flying!
Quite expensive. I went on Singapore airlines from Singapore to Brisbane via Economy class and costed me a bit over $1000. First class could probably be 10x the price
I really love this channel for they are not boxed in that limited set of 5-6 popular airlines. The wide range of airlines covered is the single most important USP of this channel.
Glad to see Brutally Honest Return, I was waiting for this day to come, the series was an amazing idea on the channel and you review airlines very accurately. You really are the best airlines reviewing channel. Keep up the good work and Kudos to David and Felix :D
The only non middle east airline which we can compare with emirates, etihad or qatar is turkish airlines. Because they have a very young fleet also a brand new airport with a very very good lounge. Also there inflight entertainment system is world class. They have a very good catering partner with turkish do&co. And a very very professionel crew. Which to see a brutally honest review of them. 🙈
That GTF sound when they spool up for takeoff is also made during approach for some reason, I hear it all the time at SEA with DL flying so many of them into here lately. Great video!
I flew then from Cairo to Aswan, and then to Dubai. I didn’t expect too much, but they were ok on the national flights and surprisingly good on the Cairo-Dubai leg. Food was very, the only downside is that they don’t offer alcohol.
Idk why a lot of people go really hard on Egypt Air, they're not bad for a government airline. If only they had the same ambition of their neighboring gulf carriers though and manage their online experience, cabin maintenance and such. Cairo would very easily turn to a global hub.
Nice for Brutally Honest reviews to be back. I also like the new format, most especially the "background" narration style as well as the graphics. Keep it up!
Nice egypt new aircrafts but our cebu pacific nice too we have A321neo and A320neo And soon to arrived our new Airbus A330neo in our cebu pacific new aircraft

Glad to see you back with Brutally Honest! I missed them! I did not realize you hadn't done one since the pandemic started. It was good to see some regular trip reports, though, during this time. I'm sure once things get more normal again, they will do away with the single use plastic. Keep up the good work!
I did, but they said I have to ask at the gate. And then at the gate they said, they only accepted Visa and Mastercard. It was very odd and everyone seemed very confused about me asking to pay for an upgrade.
Nice review. I will fly with them in a month in business - DXB (789)-CAI (777)-LHR. I don't have any high hopes, but at least I will be able to rest. :) After having seen alot of horrible reviews, this gave me some more hope though.
The Cheese they gave you is called La vache qui rit, (the laughing Cow) and it is a morrocan brand of cheese! Was so amazed to see it on an egypltian flight!
Looking forward to flying EgyptAir soon as they are launching direct flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh on their A330-300 which will be a 6 hour flight to Cairro. Have seen horrible reviews on them especially the negative issues as crashing, hijacking, dirty, rude staff and cabin crew and bad food. But over the last couple of years they are the most improved airline.

I've flown with EgyptAir for years in the 90s and 2000s and your meals look different to what I'm used to: they always taste great (salad is not always the freshest cut vegetables but otherwise is excellent). Usually everything on the tray except the cutlery and the hot food container is reusable. The hot food container was some sort of metal which is recyclable. I wonder if this is a feature of the pandemic since these boxes have full lids?

Egypt Air is the 6th oldest airline worldwide established on 1932 ,even older than the state of UAE itself.
UAE economy with 1 million local population is bigger then Egyptian economy with 100 million population. There is no need to compare this way :)

My concern is...... what if they don't get washed properly.
Reusable dishes and cutlery had a history of getting stolen, that's probably why they don't use them much.
Actually EgyptAir has its own plastic factory to serve its own aircraft's and its more safety for covid 19
They only switched to single-use plastics after covid. Never had them before. Based on travelling with them for the past 9 years. I assume they plan to go back to their reusable dishes once there is less concern around the virus.
