- Just a raw (boring) video going over all the apps and settings of the Top Display 13" Headunit for the 2nd gen Tacoma.
I hope this helps if you were curious about the headunit and how the system works. I 100% use this for Apple Carplay only, but It's cool to have the other features as well.
Will be upgrading my door speakers soon with a set of Focal Auditor Series (entry level). Stay tuned for that video!
Full details on the Top Display 13" head unit can be found here:

Use my code MYKOSPRO5 to support and save a few dollars!
I've had mine for a few months now but Im curious on the firmware. For instance, if I upgrade my IOS on my phone, do the changes translate to the headunit or does the firmware have to be updated to work with the changes and/or will it run the default firmware whether I update my IOS or not?
How did you connect the factory backup cam?? Please help!
did you get the Torque app to work? if yes what OBDII adapter did you use, I'm having problems getting mine to talk to the obd2 port using usb cable
Does the screen shake when you are driving on rough bumpy road?
I would say its minimal but you would really have to focus on it to really see it. But its not enough to make the screen unreadable.
what about onx?
Mine take forever to connect to apple carplay.
Also the backup camera is horrible.
Is it slow at connecting all the time? I believe the back up camera resolution doesn’t go well with this size of a screen. Makes it even more pixelated.
@@mykospro sometimes it takes about 1-2 mins to connect other just keeps loading and loading. Sometimes when im lucky it gets connected fast.
@@mykospro by the way i got my new speaker installed including a 10” subwoofer but the store charge me 2k 😭 they used Hertz speakers and Rockford fosgate, they told me it was the best system for the tacoma. They sound great but i think they overcharge me. Oh almost forgot the system cost was $1,400 but i asked them to install a damping on all 4 doors supposed to help with noise and better sound. So yeah total was $2k
@@yojuanjose1oh wow. Maybe the unit needs to be updated or possibly your phone? I haven’t had mine not take that long. Either it does or doesn’t lol.
I’m not sure if that’s pricey but I know hertz is top notch I believe. But how does it sound?
@@mykospro the sound is really loud especially with the 10” subwoofer 🔊
9 months REAL review for me:
Pros: definitely a huge updgrade, looks amazing. Stereo sounds great since I have a huge sound system upgrade already in my truck. When apple CarPlay works, their apps works great. They have UA-cam music app on apple CarPlay.
Cons: cost $600 plus eh. first few months, my apple car play works fast and good. But lately it’s been slow like up to 5 mins or already driving then it suddenly finally connect, for a month now, even after update. My 2013 taco comes with the reverse camera on the rear view mirror (on the left small side on it). Can’t find the wiring for it to match with this upgrade unit one. And somehow can’t get my steering buttons to work (following the instruction confusing). And somehow the default gps on it stop working now too, idk why, everything still attached nicely. Lastly, the unit isn’t a snug fit so any off roadings can make it POP off. They need to put UA-cam and Netflix app on the apple CarPlay too instead just on the home page because signing in to it on the home page won’t allow me because they keep asking for android sign in (I’m a iPhone user).
USTOP if you reading this, please send me another one to upgrade 😅 still love it since it’s a nice upgrade but for $600, need to be more durable. my two scent. ❤
Thank you for this!
I also have a 2015 TRD Pro, were you able to use your stock GPS antenna and USB port with the Top Display?
You can get the stock usb port to work. But not sure on the factory GPS antenna to be honest. It does come with the normal antenna with the unit.
I literally just pulled the trigger on this one. After contemplating for months and chatting with you on IG, I went for it. Can’t wait to get. Pretty much the way you use yours, will be the way I use it.
If you have a chance, if it’s possible…can you do an install video or at least a wiring video.
I have a pioneer right now and I’m curious if the harness that comes with this one is different than the one used to connect the pioneer.
I can’t stand my pioneer. It starts up really slow, it connect slows and I’ve gone long commutes and the phone just disconnect or the screen goes blank.
I haven’t heard many or none of bad reviews on this radio.
Yeah I can do something real quick or it may be easier to message me on IG. I can take some detail of how mine is installed and compare it with your harness.
Bro it’s Daddy_julz
Don’t know if you remember me but I pulled the trigger on the 13” deck! Let’s gooooo!!!! Thank you for exposing this product. Might make it my first UA-cam video. I deleted my fb and insta took to much of my time
Hope all is well.
Let me know how your experience is. It’s been 2 weeks and I still haven’t gotten mine.
Yeah i remember! Hope all is well!
@@mykospro brotha what’s the quality on the camera with the unit.
Selling your rock sliders anytime soon? 👀👀
I dont think ill ever get rid of these lol
@@mykospro ah damn, well let me get first dibs if you ever change your mind lol, your taco looks awesome af, my '12 is also black so your mods are definitely motivating me to mod up, I got the suma performance blue side mirrors, meso customs dual dome and map lights and the auto up and down all windows switches because of you 😂👍🏽
How can you prevent this from theft?
Sadly, there wouldnt be a way without maybe bolting into the a/c vent bezel.
Don’t think people steal radios anymore
Does it accept Android Auto?
Yes it does. I just don’t have one to test lol.
Watch the damn video.
