Revitalizing my love for the minifreak. Arturia has done that multiple times with multiple pieces I own. Can't wait to get to my studio, update and experiment. Your explanation and demos are always a pleasure to watch, thank you ❤.
Oh man, I pulled the trigger on this one recently, to perform with my band and to keep my Hydrasynth company... and this machine keeps on giving. Thanks for the video, now I know how to play with the new synth engines!
Dude! I bought a Arturia MicroFreak just a couple months ago! I quit video games and decided to pick up synth music, thanks in big part to your influence :)
I just lately bought my MiniFreak stellar and been blast. It’s a great synth and just so much fun to play. More over can be packed in a backpack and take it on the road with you.
excellent upload.......I recently purchased a MicroFreak, so I'm familiar with a lot of these sounds..............even though these are relatively affordable synths, I find them endlessly inspiring..............hats off to Arturia, and you, for doing such masterful presentations for us......................
Loading a sample as an oscillator is my favorite sampler feature. And for those manufacturers that don’t allow freaking chords because of “creative limitations” they can gtfo.
Boy howdy, only just started the video but reverse kalimba got me feeling some kind of way. Might be one of the nicest sounds I can think of. Seems like a great selection!
Also, yes, some kind of panning feature would be so so good! I'm wondering if you could set up some kind of panner with one of the chorus models. have you tried this? I'm gonna see what I can get out of something like that today.
well, somebody just sold me on getting a mini freak synth. I just bought the model 15 synth for that dreamy vintage synth sound. after seeing this I know i need one of these. as a sampler i love this. I wish Akai would add something like this to their MPC software.
Hey man, your reviews are among the best. Just well done, no blabla, no posing and I always understand you know what you are talking about. Hey Arturia, how about a at least 4oct normal size version with 2 independent minis inside...? Hm?
I feel pretty much the same about digital synths in general, especially since VST’s have gotten so good. I made an exception for the Polyend Synth. The three way split touch pads are so unique and useful.
No. You cannot. Supposedly will be able to load user samples in a future update according to Synth Anatomy. They really need to be more transparent about this sort of thing.
It's a good opportunity to say that Arturia's firmware update experience was a nightmare, especially in the early days of MiniFreak. Many people have bricked their synths by simply updating them because apparetly sending a new firmware over USB in a reliable manner is way too hard for our time.
I didn't update to the latest version yet coz honestly 1) I don't think I like the synth (I just don't wanna take it off the shelf) 2) shitty update experience scared me even more so I don't wanna risk bricking again 3) all the knobs and buttons feel too stiff for me, gotta push like crazy with a loud click 4) sequencing is finicky, I wish there was no sequencer at all - can always use external one 5) keys are small, not pleasant, and for whatever reason don't have poly-aftertouch
Also it feels cheaply made - when I hold it, it makes a crackling sound like nothing else (and this is considering the fact that I'm extremely gentle on any kind of tech)
Oh man, goes to my ever growing shopping list with this update for sure... i've been looking for something like this! Was thinking of some modular vector/granular stuff but this came just in time. Do you get anything, if I buy it from thomann thru your link? just asking so I remember to do it so!
I hope there's a flagship mini/micro freak synth at some point! Like a Polybrute 12 with these oscillators. I probably won't be able to afford it, but it would make me happy to know it exists lol
Do I /really/ need to make my mortgage payment today even I could make a minifreak payment instead. I highly doubt my mortgage is gonna get upgraded with samples and synth engines anytime soon…
is there user sample import or am I stuck with the limited samples they added? I'm seeing no way to import user samples here. Microfreak has user samples and user wavetables...this has only presets wavetables and samples I think ?
sooooooo i had this little guy gathering dust in a corner after being replaced by other synths , and after adquiring this capabilities , boy does he just earned a front line position again , i dont have any hardware granular machine so yeah WELLCOME BACK BABY BOY!!!!! TIME TO PLAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS, also the more i hear of the vide the more i realize , its not a gimic...... it seems to be a pretty fucking in depth thing and straight out of pigments
Right? Thank God there are people who show us new things, and considering the range of personality types, it's a good thing there are many creators sharing at the same time
it has has CV outs. now what minifreak? (in fact the minifreak is part of my live setup as a midi/cv controller and I couldn't replace it because of the cv outs. also the form factor).
Jeremy after 3 days with the MiniFreak - this. Me after 3 days with the MiniFreak - Init saw wave with filter cutoff and reverb.
A saw wave through a closed filter with some nice filter envelope always sounds so nice tho 😅
Dude my mind is blown. Arturia is on another level. Thanks for the great video, as always!

not even a miniFreak owner, but you never fail to inspire new art in me, fox. I'm headed back into Max9 to play with granular!
Oh man, I pulled the trigger on this one recently, to perform with my band and to keep my Hydrasynth company... and this machine keeps on giving. Thanks for the video, now I know how to play with the new synth engines!
- Oh Arturia Minifreak™, I'm just feeling real low
- I have samples now
- Oh shit, for real?
Arturia has to be top 3 in terms of updates.
Cool! You can also scroll through samples by holding shift and turning type.
My New Year’s resolution is to spend more time with my minifreak
So happy I bought a MiniFreak. Insanely powerful little box and Arturia just keeps making it better.
I'm hoping this means the update is available to download now!
This machine is magical
Somehow got the Microfreak synth AND the minifreak VST. So. Much. Fun!!!
Dude! I bought a Arturia MicroFreak just a couple months ago! I quit video games and decided to pick up synth music, thanks in big part to your influence :)
My girlfriend literally just ordered me a Minifreak for Christmas, this is amazing news!
Jeremy + MiniFreak 3.0 = Amazing
As always watching you do such a fun way of demonstrating updates to rad af machines is a great way to spend a morning with coffee!
I've been dreaming of this day
good lordt... I just got a deal on a Take 5 (and love it) but the minifreak really is the gift that keeps on giving...
such an amazing synth. these updates are the reason I chose it over the hydra.
Oh! This is really nice! What a cool update!
oh! Minifreak software was one of my favorite synths already, this update makes my desire to get the hardware overwhelming.
I just lately bought my MiniFreak stellar and been blast. It’s a great synth and just so much fun to play. More over can be packed in a backpack and take it on the road with you.
Awesome stuff, really enjoyed the approach and walkthrough of the new engines
I was this || close to buying myself a microfreak for sample/granular but now I can just update my minifreak! 😮
Huzzah! 🎉
Mind blowing!! Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this - a logical succession to the MicroFreak which also introduced samples a while back. So awesome!
excellent upload.......I recently purchased a MicroFreak, so I'm familiar with a lot of these sounds..............even though these are relatively affordable synths, I find them endlessly inspiring..............hats off to Arturia, and you, for doing such masterful presentations for us......................
23:28 holy heavy
I love Arturia so much, I could marry it. Thx RMR.
Tasty beans all right in the hands of a magical chef
Abilitiy to grab audio via input would be game changing for this synth now.
I found out about this through a notification on the Arturia software center. Christmas came early!!
No way, I just googled if this was possible yesterday as I’m considering that synth! Must be a sign from the music gods
Loading a sample as an oscillator is my favorite sampler feature.

Boy howdy, only just started the video but reverse kalimba got me feeling some kind of way. Might be one of the nicest sounds I can think of. Seems like a great selection!
This is so damn exciting! I feel like I was just sent an entirely new synth for free!
Also, yes, some kind of panning feature would be so so good! I'm wondering if you could set up some kind of panner with one of the chorus models. have you tried this? I'm gonna see what I can get out of something like that today.
Now I’m even happier to have purchased V collection last sales! Minifreak V at this point alone justifies all of the investment
14:07 hell yeah I love Autechre
18.00 i hear a great snare!!
I really hope we will see Arturia do a full-size synth based on the MiniFreak architecture.
Jeremy, never apologize for your colorful mush.
Maybe we will get a Superfreak in 2025 with 61 full size keys 👀
Megafreak 😉
@TechM3X I think SUPER freak would be a cooler name and homage to Rick James
well, somebody just sold me on getting a mini freak synth. I just bought the model 15 synth for that dreamy vintage synth sound. after seeing this I know i need one of these. as a sampler i love this. I wish Akai would add something like this to their MPC software.
Minifreak for all!
Ooh yes autopan lfo please!
Ohhhhh nice! Yay
Hey man, your reviews are among the best. Just well done, no blabla, no posing and I always understand you know what you are talking about. Hey Arturia, how about a at least 4oct normal size version with 2 independent minis inside...? Hm?
God darn it! I sold mine a little while back.... regret I feel.
Does this come to the minifreak VST as well? Hope so.
Trying to move as far away from boxed VST synths as possible.
I feel pretty much the same about digital synths in general, especially since VST’s have gotten so good. I made an exception for the Polyend Synth. The three way split touch pads are so unique and useful.
no reason to think it won't; it's made to work 1:1 with the vst.
@@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 love this feature but I suppose you could have a dedicated grid controller to do just that
Can you use the grain engins on all the factory presets?
Not topical, but youtube gave me an unprompted AI summary for one of your videos, confidently calling you Red Beans Recording
so can we load up our own samples? WAV format? length limits? Can you record from the audio in, or do you need to transfer from PC?
Assuming this is similar to what they did on the MicroFreak, the answer is yes, but very limited sample space.
No. You cannot. Supposedly will be able to load user samples in a future update according to Synth Anatomy. They really need to be more transparent about this sort of thing.
@@dreamstaticsounds. Yeah. And nice clickbait by Jeremy on this video 😏
1:40: It seems easier to use SHIFT + Type to change the sample, rather than using the menu.
They could make a 12 voice 61-note super-synth out of this and it would beat everything else out there.
Paraphonic mode with 12 voices actualy sounds really good
Epic!
I think i saw
Lick,
but first?
in an Elden Ring message the other day

I wish it had a touch strip keyboard the same as the predecessor. It was a cool distinctive feature and it had polyphonic aftertouch.
Also it feels cheaply made - when I hold it, it makes a crackling sound like nothing else (and this is considering the fact that I'm extremely gentle on any kind of tech)
Also why is the screen so damn small, couldn't they fit at least 30% bigger screen? corner cutting is everywhere
Oh man, goes to my ever growing shopping list with this update for sure... i've been looking for something like this! Was thinking of some modular vector/granular stuff but this came just in time. Do you get anything, if I buy it from thomann thru your link? just asking so I remember to do it so!

Nice. ...but minikeys. When they go full polyfreak, dammit, I'm in.
Agreed
Yeah I kind of thought the polybrute 12 should have been the freakbrute 12. The
Are these samples vsts that they offer separately? Or is this specific to the minifreak?
Minifreak is king imo..
What other synth(s) can do all this?!
Sounds better when you play than me 😝
I wonder how big the market would be for a keytar converter for this thing
Which would you guys say is better, the Minifreak or the Korg Multi Poly
oh so you get a lot more engine than the micro. rarely use them but still a little jealous. frozen is really cool
Isn't this the exact same feature that was added to the microfreak like 3 or 4 years ago? Why'd it take so long for it's big brother to get it?
Some square pusher there i see :D around 23:40
I love Freaks.
Rowr!
23:28 is giving skinny puppy
Is this on microfreak as well?
doesn't seem so. the microfreak has already 3 samples engines (the first three of the video); but not the others.
Do I /really/ need to make my mortgage payment today even I could make a minifreak payment instead. I highly doubt my mortgage is gonna get upgraded with samples and synth engines anytime soon…
03:54 oh hello jungle
is there user sample import or am I stuck with the limited samples they added? I'm seeing no way to import user samples here. Microfreak has user samples and user wavetables...this has only presets wavetables and samples I think ?
you can import samples on the microfreak so it should be possible there as well.
@ it is not possible to…super lame to make a sample update and only have 48 samples someone else picked
So can you sample into it now ?
fake plants Jeremy? I am shocked, shocked.
also love the video and demos v. cool - no minfreak here but it's nice to see it getting some updates
20:00 reminds me of way too many shrooms..

You can't load your own samples though...
My unit is out for repairs 😢
Great but no user samples🙁
FFS I just bought a hydrasynth over the mini freak for various reasons but after this update I'm getting some serious fomo.
Wish my ex had ever treated me as well as Arturia is treating me.
Did someone say protogens? XD
Wish I didn't sell mine
Same
For what this has in the tank .. its incredible cheap.
I can't defend not getting this machine anymore
Just bought mine lately very spontaneously. It’s a no brainer! Great synth so versatile, practical to take everywhere and just fun to play
:O
Lol, all the synthtuber videos dropping all at once
Lol, all the vapid comments from tubertrolls dropping all at once
Right? Thank God there are people who show us new things, and considering the range of personality types, it's a good thing there are many creators sharing at the same time
@@offbeeptrolls are gonna troll
Usually timed that way because of release NDAs
And 4 hours later, they do not show up even with keyword search. I had to go through RMR main page and browse new videos
Nice clickbait, Jeremy …
oh wow so lame. the samples are fixed presets. You can't load your own. Enjoy industrial techno with kalimba ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's confirmed no user samples?
I'll still make good use of this, plenty of ways to mangle samples. Makes me glad I'm keeping the micro though.
Hope you’ll get your oompa loompa in the next update.
AFAIK you can upload your own samples on the MicroFreak so would be odd if that wasn’t supported here too.
How did you implement sampling in your hardware synth design?
@RikMaxSpeed, Cannot upload your own samples with this update. Arturia says the capability will be in a future update.
Pffffft. Big deal. My microfreak had samples ages ago. And it has a touchplate. (Bafflingly smug about consumer purchases grin goes here)
it has has CV outs. now what minifreak? (in fact the minifreak is part of my live setup as a midi/cv controller and I couldn't replace it because of the cv outs. also the form factor).
