- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- 12th January 2021, Ex South African Railways 24 Class Steam locomotive 3620, operated by the Bellarine Railway for “The Q Train” dining service, performed an empty cars load test run from Queenscliff to Drysdale and return, with stops at the Queenscliff Yacht Club, Lakers Siding, and Suma Park.
The train departed Queenscliff at 2:50pm, arriving at Drysdale at 4pm. The run was largely a success, and the locomotive should begin revenue services for The Q Train in the near future.

Very cool train
Thank you brother Flynn
Looks like grand canyon railway 4960.
Lovely video. Great seeing the loco running. I remember it when they overhauled it here in New Zealand. Thanks for sharing.
You know this train is special!
Even though that this train was originally built from England and shipped to the South African Railways, No. 3620 is the only operating 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type locomotive in Australia. In America, the 2-8-4 product was a big deal in North America. Not only that, but the train look like it's been Americanized. No. 3620 now features an American headlight positioned at the center of the smokebox, along with number plates on the sides of the headlight and below, a bell mounted on the top front of the smokebox, and ditch lights; which apparently many Australian steam locomotives use too.
It was actually built in Glasgow Scotland, Not England
@Rick James yep
@Rick James that’s okay
Correct
Yep it was turned into a oil burner in New Zealand
This is the greatest thing I have ever seen, fantastic videography
Como mola la americanizacion de la máquina, ha quedado bien
I saw this oil burner down at Drysdale making my ears bleed!! (SO LOUD LOL)
One of the guys at 1:35 filmed the video the the q train Facebook page
Can we borrow these locomotives to run shuttles between Lebrina and Wyena. Picking up and setting down rail trailers camping at Denison Gorge?
Probably not

Nice video. I made a video of it spinning it's wheels on the way back on my channel.
