It redefines "slow food" 🙂. You can't be in a hurry when you go on the Q Train, I think you could walk the distance quicker, but that's not what it's about. Beautiful countryside, amazing food, great local wines, and a lovely old train. They also do a pickup/dropoff with the ferry from Melbourne so you can make a full day of it if you don't want to drive. Enjoy!
Thanks Deon, are you from South Africa? You're 100% correct! The 3620 is a South African built steam engine that used to pull the scenic railway in Kuranda, far north Queensland, before arriving in Geelong to pull the Q Train. It's a North British 24 Class 2-8-4 No.3620 (NB No.26332) built for South African Railways. Straight to the top of the class for you 🙂
@andyball7270 it's worth seeking out. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, the whole weekend was a great escape 👍. Glad you enjoyed it welcome to the channel.
You've convinced me to put this on our list for our next trip to Oz next year. It looked great.

@@MichaelBTraveller Hi , yes from Cape Town. SA . My dad was an steam engine driver. Travelled every school holiday with him on the foot plate.
Mine too, although I never got to take a ride. He'd changed to suburban electric by the time I came along
Suma Park for the rail enthusiast stop, not Lakers Siding
At least I'm glad that someone was listening! Obviously I wasn't 🙂
@@MichaelBTraveller thoroughly enjoyed everything else! I've wanted to do this experience for a while and it gives a great insight!
