Testament to the HW100. It's 20 years old this year and still superior to anything that's in its price point. Its also one of the most if not the most robust and reliable air rifles on the market. Nuff said!
Fortunately Andy does a more subjective comparison. 🙂
Aa S510
And mine will never be sold. 👍
Spot on. Never had a second's trouble with mine.
@@beakyturbot You say that but Andy is an absolute sucker for a BSA, he absolutely loves everything they do and always has.
Had a new R10 MK2 and it leaked, took it back got repaired and it leaked again, junk! Bought a Hw100kt (used) and it's absolutely spot on. The HW is mechanical and basic but that's it's strength. 99% of decent PCPs will put pellet on pellets if the shooter is good enough. They don't need to reinvent the wheel with the HW100 because they got it right the first time!
More of these, please. Comparisons are far more useful than two separate videos, each saying, "This gun's nice."
I agree, individual videos are great because they are more of a deep dive. But comparisons of two or more guns with a similar price point and/or target market prove very useful. Not trying to add to your workload though Andy.
@@lewisstroud4839 And create a war in the comments, which is good for the algorithm.
Thinking about this further, it wouldn't even have to be directly competing models. It could be a shooting style, and then "Here's what £500, £750, £1000+ gets you, and why you might choose each."
I've had two new BSA's (GRT & R10) and they both had to go back to BSA due to major issues. Whilst the R10 was away I bought a new FX Impact MK2 and when the R10 eventually came back I sold it on. I no longer own any BSA's but still have the FX and now two used Weihrauch HW100's all of which have been faultless. It's a personal thing. Personally I don't like being messed about by sub standard products !
Vive la différence! It would be a dull old world if we all liked the same thing and manufacturers wouldn't give us as much choice. Happy Easter folks ✝.
Weihrauch HW100kt is the best rifle i have ever owned, i have had a good many over the last 40 years
only problem with the r12 is that it will spend more time back at bsa being repaired . The HW100 is time proven bomb proof quality
The HW100 is definitely the better looking gun without that big bottle sticking out the front! Great review but lets be honest you did do a limited run with BSA so you must lean that way, but your spot on with the plane analogy!! Also there does seem to more complaints on the BSA then the HW100 on the forums? Have a great easter weekend and stay well.
Adolf Galland was himself a fighter ace , he was also the boss of all fighter wings during the Battle of Britain . Things were not going to plan and when Hitler himself asked " what do you need to gain air superiority over england " he gave a one word reply " Spitfires. "
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one , in as much as both these rifles are so much more than capable and both live or die on the behaviour of just one nut . The one with his finger on the trigger .
Bacon time , nice piece of work Andy..
Dave
well said Dave
Galland's outburst was directed at Goering, not Hitler. Galland was frustrated at Goering's insistence on German fighter pilots flying in close formation with the bombers. The 109 did not handle well at the lower speeds involved in this poor tactic and Galland's pilots were being turned into sitting ducks.
Galland recognised the Spitfire's superior low speed handling compared to the 109; something that would have helped his pilots to escape from an attack and this was the reason for his comment. In reality Galland fully understood the strengths and weaknesses of both aircraft and preferred the 109 if it was used properly.
@@oldfashioned8602 Hi wasn’t the spitfire faster ?more top end speed ?
@@simonnoble7589 Faster at low altitude but slower at high altitudes. The 109 had significantly better armament. The overlooked Hurricane had the same armament as the Spitfire but the guns could be mounted closer together, concentrating the firepower.
@@oldfashioned8602 But like anything! It’s only as good as the person 🧍♂️ using it ?
Happy 😃 Easter 🐣
Thank you for the video Andy.. I love the look of the BSA.. But it has a terrible reputation for having problems . The HW is just much more reliable according to the gunsmiths I asked...
I don't own a gun/rifle but love your video's. Used to own two when I was in my 20s, had a BSA Meteor and a scorpion hand gun I think that was BSA but not sure.
Got married and they had to go. Now I'm nearly 70 and don't have a cat in hells chance of owning one but the rifles of today are what dreams are made of LOL.
Same as with Ham radio these hobby's are in a decline as way back many used the radio and many used the rifles, plus the clubs are also scarce. Pity things got so expensive as the first BSA cost just a few shillings LOL
Still at least it is nice to see an honest review and watching helps keep up with what is out there. Take care and thanks.
The scorpion is bsa, I still have mine after after nearly 50 years.
Get back into the hobby , sounds like you miss it
Would love to but pension does not allow.
You don't have to spent £1000 + to enjoy this hobby . These are the top end of the market. Andy does lots of reviews on much more affordable products. Get something cheep and plink away my friend .
Good morning, everybody and our Host Andy ..... have a fantastic day ! The Suns out here in Yorkshire
Not here in the South West, need a snorkel here!
@@bobster9549 will send you some sun ☀️ lol
I love the analogy of ME 109 and the Spitfire . Your absolutely correct with Your statement about Perfection , perfection is an abstract human concept , and due to humanities inherent flaws simply unattainable , that doesn't mean that manufactures have stopped trying , it simply spurs them to make further improvements which We benefit from when new models are released . Both BSA & Weihrauch have long and illustrious histories and have and continue to produce some ground breaking at the time airguns and no doubt will continue to evolve their latest offering whenever any improvement is optimal . The recent (not really that recent) trend toward PCP's has spurred innovation amongst all Manufacturers and improvements are made and incorporated in their latest updates , rather like those made to the ME 109 which had 4 basic variants , and the Spitfire which actually had no less than 24 different variants throughout it's working (service) life. I'm just glad You hadn't compared the FW190 to the Spitfire MK5 as it took a while before the Spitfire regained it's equilibrium and caught back up . Both rifles are excellent machines made by noteworthy and reputable manufacturers and each is capable of it's intended purpose ( putting pellets on target accurately & reliably) it's simply a matter of Personal taste & preference. Thanks Andy , catch You next time , Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.
Perfect start to the day, thanks Andy. Have a great weekend everyone 😊
Both great guns but that big bulbous bottle on the BSA just doesn’t look great!
It is downright ugly...it is a sodastreambottle mounted on an airrifle. Hidious!😮
Totally agree 🤮
@@tomsvennblad8374 It gives you more shots, the standard gun doesn't come with the carbon fiber bottle.
Some pcp's integrate Buddy bottles nicely like the Reximex accura walnut, But I agree this one looks plopped right on the end of the stock, Not very nice, I love the shot count of bottle tank rifle's, Less filling, more fun.
There are so many things that come down to personal preference, so your comparison is fair as far as I am concerned. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers from Texas.
A person who only buys Mercedes is called a taxi driver.
yes cos they keep going lol
Toyota you mean
@@rogerdodger1790
In western Europe it’s Mercedes.
You say this buy I've had almost every car brand probably bar a daewoo and getting in my Mercedes really is that bit better
What I learned on my MBA was that Toyota is as reliable as Mercedes but they (then, decades ago) achieved the results differently. Toyota build the cars with, say one defect per 1000 cars but Mercedes built cars with , say, four (I think it was more) defects per thousand. Mercedes catches up by spending a lot more money fixing the faults coming off the line. Mercedes have also been notoriously unreliable electrically. My conclusion: a Mercedes buyer is a mug, buying the name under false pretences. Sorry if that offends - it's just my opinion.
Andy, lost your channel for a while, so pleased to have it back. Brilliant comparison video. Many Thanks
I'm a bit of a traditionalist and like a gun to look like a gun .No big paintball bottles hanging off the front and a nice bit of real wood as a stock . Amongst my guns my Hw100 holds the top spot , it's never let me down!
Great comp, Andy. Appreciated.
I for one, trust your opinions. So far I have found your reviews to be accurate and you seem genuine. Thanks for what you do.
Always straight forward fair reviews . Like you I have both brands , love them to bits . Its a pleasure to use both .
I looked at both of them and they are great guns!
Weihrauch is heavy and low shot count - unless you pay one of the upgrade companies to fit a better regulator and lighter, higher fill pressure, cylinder.
I didn't want a buddy bottle so that was the BSA eliminated and seemingly there are more complaints re quality from owners - or maybe just more owners?
Instead I bought the Daystate Huntsman Revere Safari. Absolutely zero regrets - it's brilliant!
The Huntsman is half as expensive again as either the BSA or the HW, is it not? Lovely guns but you've gone up a grade.
@@davidpaylor5666 £1100 for a Revere
@@davidpaylor5666 No it isn't actually. All in Walnut for a fair comparison - Weihrauch HW100 KT lists at £1,135. BSA R12 SLX SL lists at £1,250. Huntsman Revere lists at £1,170. Obviously you can get discounts on all of them but they are all very much in the same price band
Great review and honest as ever Andy 'well done'👍
I had a BSA Airsporter for 40+ years and loved it, but when I went to PCP’s it was Weihrauch for me and I now own the 110 in .22 and a 100 BP in .177. Both have synthetic/rubberised stocks and they stand up well for my pest control work. For me, they are more aesthetically pleasing than many other air rifles. With regards to your comments about not knowing where the pellets are in partially loaded HW magazine, it’s very easy to roll it round, click by click, till the first pellet is in the right place to be loaded for the next shot. Try it Andy.
I have a BSA and a Weihrauch and I love them both. My Weihrauch is a 110 and the only fault is loading and unloading having to fiddle with the catch but they are both great.
Nice comparison Andy
Great merchandise as well
Thank you. 👍
Morning all, Happy Easter
Happy Easter , dont eat 2 much chocolate lol ... nice day for shooting today ? cheers Simon
@@simonnoble7589 down in Tenby for the weekend
I own a Weihrauch but have always fancied a BSA, I am not a fan boy of any brand and enjoy your reviews on different Air Guns etc, excellent presentation Thank you.
Really enjoyed this off the cuff comparison, would love to see more. Great job.
Thanks as always Andy for a HONEST REVIEW. DEFINITELY the spitfire for me 😉.
Take care hope you and yours have a great Easter 🎯🐣🐇🇬🇧👍🏼
Bet you pick the BSA 😁
Hi Andy, Hope your ok?.
I have both these guns and love them both. I actually purchased both due to your reviews. Thanks. Keep up the great work. I love what you do cheers. CNH
I too own both and just like you I would fight before giving either up!
Goodmorning all! Happy Easter weekend to all of you...
Happy Easter to you
Great review Mr Andy❤
I've only owned one BSA airgun, but a number of Weihrauch guns. Both produce excellent guns. You really can't go wrong with either one. It boils down to features you like...👍😺
The best thing about the hw100 is you can't double load it .
Thanks for sharing. I loved my BSA Superten hence the name.
Have shot a friends HW110, nicest trigger I’ve ever shot. Have owned an R10, great for nine months then the reg failed, repaired by BSA, never shot the same again. Would I buy either of these, no. Shot count is a big thing for me so that’s the HW out. The R12, well I had an R10se carbine with the black pepper stock but looks can’t replace accuracy and reliability. These two both have their merits but I will stick to my BRK Ghost.
I like this new side by side comparison format. Maybe do more in the future?
Hi Andy, I’m like you love the BSA as you know how many I have lol looking towards the slx more and more! 👍
The green HW is something else 😍 saw one on the shelf at vector the other day and fell in love
Great review, I’ve always been a springer man myself, but I think I’d have either one of those 👍
Brilliant!
Enjoyed this video. I own a hw100 carbine bullpup and a bsa clx ultra and love them both 👍
I like this comparison video it would be nice to see more comparison videos thank you for all that you do you keep producing videos I'll keep watching them 👍👍👍👍
I have both and I love both
Love the head to head videos, there are always loads of people on Facebook asking for recommendations between two rifles at similar price brackets. If possible, more please.
Got both the Weirauch (with Turish nut stock) is my favorite by far
Great comparison, thanks Andy.
We are all influenced by personal experience. In my case I have had faultless performance from an Air Arms rifle for over twenty years, so when I bought another last year I looked at their range first (and eventually bought a TX 200 as I was after a springer). I would never rule out either BSA or Weihrauch though. They look great and both companies have been around a long time.
In pcp I always went for air arms ,then this time I bought a HW 110 and I love it ,I got the laminate thumb hole one
Great review. The hw100 in the green stock is on my list for this year. Smart looking tool
They do brilliant synthetic stocks, no casting line or sprue left on them. I have the bullpup which has a sort of grippy rubber coated wooden stock and it is fantastic in the field, still really positive in your hand even in the wet with gloves on. Never even been close to having it slip out of my hand.
I absolutely love both, the reason I love both is because I could never afford to own either.
I'm not so keen on the bottle on the BSA though, it does interrupt the styling of it and the curves imo. It's almost like it's jammed on there as an afterthought.
What you can never hope to have a spare 6-700 quid in your life?
@@rogerdodger1790 two kids under 5, cost of living crisis, escalating bills, rent rise..?
I'll let you draw your own conclusion.
My mate has 4 kids, a dog and a wife and has more than enough money to spend on guns. Renting is your problem son, mugs game. Have you ever heard of something called overtime?
Thanks
I have both a BSA Ultra SE and a Weihrauch HW110. Both are excellent guns for the specific purposes I use them for, the SE for pest control and HW110 for the range.
Great video comparison and just what a newbie like me who is considering between these very two needed to know. I think the key here is what you said yourself, Andy, when you shoot a BSA it’s like going home because you have shot them so much. The range I go to uses the HW100 as their standard club gun for visitors. So this is what I’ve been shooting for a while now while I learn. Maybe then my first purchase should be something I’m used to?
Cheers, Andy!
At the end of the day, the best advice is to find a way to try them both and pick your own choice, either is a good gun.
great video thank you
Received my new hw100s last week in walnut, it's got a Minelli quality control label stuck to the inside of the stock.
I did shoot both side by side before buying, and the weihrauch has it for me. So much easier loading in every aspect, and accurate
Unfortunately, the "Spitfire" is hard to find here in Continental Europe, so the Me 109 will probably remain the top dog here. Happy Easter to everyone!!!
Great video as always
For me bsa for range shooting (don’t get it dirty) the 100 out rating in the rain and mud (and it won’t let you down)
My thoughts exactly, the R12 is a range queen and the HW100 is a steadfast hunting tool.
Horses for courses really, depends on what you want to do with your rifle
Do you have issues with shot count while on the hunt?
Very interesting to see your comparison as I too own both a Weihrauch HW100T full length and a BSA R12 CLX Pro full length with the carbon bottle.
Hmm - what a lovely dilemma; to pick between those two beauties. Great review Andy.
You can have both though. 😄
Have both and purchased both from Vector Air. Fantastic rifles but in my own testing the BSA just edged the HW.
Spot on Andy with you all the way ,the 100 needs an update i have a R12 clx and a 100s Its the BSA for me
My favourite would be the BSA but I would also have the HW ,both superior
HW100 for me, accurate, reliable and the magazines are just brilliant. BSA is better looking though.
Hw 100 has proved itself over 20 years thats the test of a good reliably rifle, bsa have a lot of problems
love it! Ive reviewed/tried both. Although I want to love the BSA more the HW just seemed much better quality to me. shot well, nice action. was my preference for sure.
I have got the HW100 it's a wonderful gun i have not got or had a BSA. But I have shot a BSA, and I found it a very nice and practical gun as you said, there's nothing much between them if and when I can I shell definitely be getting one but I will be keeping my Wh100 aswelll
BSA all the way for me. Goos video.
Great video as always but how about a comparison of break barrels like HW99S vs Lightning or Meteor?
Personal choice for me a weihrauch asi don't like the, imo, buddy bottle thing. A great review as always and unbiased to boot.
Finally, we have a YTer that doesn't sit on the fence.....I thought you were going to but you choose BSA..
SICK OF YTERS SAYING OH WELL, THEY ARE BOTH GOOD HAS EACHOTHER.....JUST PICK
aesthetically it's the German as it hasn't got ugly bottle hanging out front
Happy Easter to you and the other half. Yesterday I purchased a BSA R-12 CLX can you recommend a pellet? Thanks in anticipation
good sense of humour there you got me109 and spitfire mar3.
I'm a springer shooter and just bought a HW95. Was considering at BSA lightning. Looking forward to finding out if my money was spent well. Thanks as always for the great videos
Nice video
Hate to say It but, I have a hw110 and the rifle has been nothing but a headache. Worst money I spent on a PCP air rifle. Now that being said, I absolutely love my hw97s. Absolutely amazing spring rifles that shoot more consistently than my TX200 mk3.
youre right its just a personal thing they are both grrreat
Great review and as good as the HW100 is, l wouldn’t hesitate to choose the BSA first, it’s an absolutely fabulous air gun.
Hi Andy,
I own a few different brands of air rifle and like them all but the only one I got so fed up with and got rid of was a BSA, I like the FX Impact I have but that has it's own set of problems.
to tell the truth the most reliable guns I have owned have been air arms and weihrauchs.
I’ve had 2 bsa guns both have been problematic bought the hw100 problems solved. The hw100 is the better looking gun in my opinion don’t like buddy bottle guns but shot count is again only my opinion the only thing better than the hw100 also the hw has been around for over 20 years now with hardly any changes made. So for me the hw100 wins
I bought a R10 and Hw 100 16 years ago because I couldn’t decide between the two. I still have the R10
I have versions of both - it's like trying to say which is your favourite child. A great video about sensible/practical perfection (and not electronic wizz kids at £2000 plus).
I've has my HW100 for 17 years. I would never part with it. MTC Viper connect, 0.177, its a beauty.
Looking handsome today Andy.
I’ve been thinking about getting a sub12 airrifle for the quietness and no real need for power (I don’t live in UK) and I’ve really been getting interested in the hw100s :) the sub12 has a shorter barrel which I like and a larger shotcount obviously and that’s two big plusses
Would be nice to know more about reliability between both rifles, as at the end of the day you can have a lovely rifle but if it’s back at the shop broke, it’s not much use!
Got BSA and a Weirauch....the Weirauch is about the most reliable gun you'll find. You hear a lot more issues with BSA but fingers crossed I haven't had one.
My vote 🗳️ is the BSA hey what . Ty Andy from the USA
Great balanced common sense comparison video. I get so tired of the negativity of those that bash one make or another just because it's not their personal preference. Owning a gun is not a competition. Just enjoy owning and using what you've got, what you like, what you can afford. Very enjoyable Andy - keep up the good work!
People "bash" BSA's for a reason!
The laminate hw looks immense
Morning more comparisons please
Hi Andy, I enjoyed that comparison, the last BSA I owned was an Airsporter S, so I’ll take your word on their PCPs, but Weihrauch, I’ve owned many, not because I’m a Fanboy, but because I’m on a very limited budget and I know they are quality. I recently fell in love with a new HW100 KT in walnut and fully intended to trade my low mileage HW110 in against it, but when it came to the crunch I couldn’t part with the 110. Financial suicide…I now own both (100% agree with you on the 110) and couldn’t part with either, they are superb. I really value your opinion on air rifles, keep up the good work. 👍
Within the first week of owning a BSA CLK Ultra 1.77 it got jammed with a pellet being pulled back into the trigger mechanism.cost me £40 ,they said it was user error so not guaranteed 😢 ,it seems it’s a common fault with BSA rifles ,that they will not own up to 😢 so got rid of it and bought the H100 KT. no worries about the pellets getting stuck and I’m more at ease using it.
I own the HW100, the only thing wrong with it is the weight. It is as heavy as my CF rifle. I did have to send it back to get the seals replaced after a year so I hope it will last now. I can not find who sells the R12 in Australia as I would trade my HW100 in on one. Keep up the reviews, I look forward to them.
To gorgeous guns con from Ireland 🇮🇪
i am the same , i have r10 mk2 in walnut and love it but i do like the look of the 100 to . is there much difference between the 100 and 110 ? what about if you had the 100 with the sporter stock there ?
