Our DVD player hasn't worked in over two years since our oldest put a quarter in the slot. The dealer quoted $1600 to repair. I happened to stumble across this video tonight and in about 15 minutes I was able to remove the stereo, retrieve the quarter, and play a video in DVD player. is this a standard Double DIN size for new unit installation? I would like to purchase an Android Auto unit for my Buick, and think it should fit, but just want to be sure. also, would it be possible to unhook the backup camera from the mirror and connect it to the new unit?
Sometimes the radio code is on a sticker on the radio so you might want to check for that before you disconnect it. It also might be if you contact the dealer and give them your VIN# they might have a record of the security code. I do not know about this Buick in particular so it may not have a code and/or anti-theft at all. if your battery ever went completely dead the radio would need a code if it needed a code
I have this exact radio which I purchased from a friend of mine. He bought a used chevrolet silverado an it had this radio installed, he removed it to buy a new one an i purchased this one from him. I attempted to install this radio into my silverado an i get a theft lock pop up. I was wondering if you know any way to fix this problem. If you put that radio you just removed on a different vehicle, you'd get the same problem. I know it has to do with the VIN number of the vehicle. But I don't know how to unlock this or set it to my vehicle VIN number. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
